Greetings, and cheers to Friday! I woke up this morning and realized I hadn’t prepped today’s post. Ooops! I had uploaded the pictures, but that’s as far as I got, so I’m going to whip this together real quick before I have to run out for an appointment.
This is a casual outfit that should transition nicely from winter to spring. You can wear it now and throw a coat on top, and you can continue to wear it for a few months if you tend to have chilly temperatures well into springtime, as we do. In fact, I’d even pair this top with shorts on a cool summer night. Best of all, the hero piece — this space dye hooded tunic — is 40% off this weekend!
How cute is this top, you guys!?! I love the textured space dye knit, and the drawstring hood is such a fun touch.
It has deep side slits that are another fun detail, but they aren’t so high that you have to worry about exposing your midsection.
That said, you can definitely wear a tank or cami under this for added modesty and warmth. This time of year, I’m more comfortable with a tank underneath — not because the material is so thin, but because it’s so flowy and open and allows a lot of air flow as you move around.
The solid color drawstring adds a nice contrast against the pattern in the top, and I also like the rounded v-neckline.
Most hooded tops have a higher neck, and then they tend to slide back and feel choky. This way, even if it does slide back some as you wear it, it never feels constricting.
Plus an open neckline is always more flattering because it elongates your neck and makes you look taller and thinner. #yesplease
I had this necklace on from a previous outfit, but I wouldn’t necessarily wear it with this look. It’s a little dressier than what I would have chosen had I thought about it. I would wear either a small pendant or nothing at all. This look is so casual, it doesn’t really need a necklace, but I’d definitely wear silver earrings of some sort — silver to coordinate with the hardware on the bag.
The leather on this bag is like butter, and the silver-tone hardware and studs on the sides are great details. Such a good bag!
I love how the Putty color pairs with my sneakers. It’s not a stark white, so they don’t match exactly, which is fine because I don’t really want them to. I think they coordinate well though.
(FYI, the bag I’m linking to is called Optic White, so I think it’s a little lighter than the Putty color of my bag, which was discontinued, but it looks very similar. Also, if you like the Mink color, it’s on sale at Shopbop.)
You know how I love my AGs, but these are no longer on sale. (They were for the past few days.) However, I did find a few good premium denim options that are on sale. Bloomingdale’s is taking an extra 20% off sale and clearance styles, and there are some really good deals to be had!
This pair of Rag & Bones is an inch shorter, which I like better for spring and summer, and they come down to $109 when you add to cart. They’re the same style as the pair of Rag & Bones in my try-on sesh last week. I have since ordered the next size down, hoping that will solve the issue of them sliding down.
All that to say, this pair looks really good, and it’s a great price for this brand. In fact, I may order them and return the others, lol!
Another similar pair worth looking at is this DL1961 Margaux, and they’re stocked in most sizes.
Also, these AG legging ankle jeans from the #NSale have been restocked in a size 28 at Nordstrom Rack, and they’re $89! Someone needs to snap these up pronto.
I’m still loving my new Veja sneakers, and they’re breaking in nicely. I’m still not lacing them into that last hole, but I think I will try it and see how it goes next time I wear them.
I’m so glad I read that advice and tried it because it has definitely made breaking these in so much easier. (For anyone who hasn’t been following along, they are rather stiff out of the box, but they do break in fairly quickly.)
Well, I sure did find a lot to say about a rather basic outfit! And now I’m running late for my appointment so I better press Publish and get this post up!
I love this casual mom-about-town look for late winter/early spring! The top has such a great texture, and the space dye fabric is so fun. Plus the side slits, the hood and contrasting drawstring, the flattering neckline… it has so many great features. AND 40% off!
