One of my outfits that made the cut during my recent closet purge was this one, and I’m THRILLED to tell you that this fringe scarf has been restocked in FOUR colors, including this oxblood color. WOOT!
Funny thing, I wouldn’t typically think of this sweater as one of my go-to wardrobe pieces, and it may not even be familiar to my regular readers, but I’ve had it for almost a year. It was from the J.Jill early spring collection last year. At the time, I loved the modern cut — relaxed without being oversized — and the high-low hemline. It skims my upper body nicely without clinging, and it holds its shape through multiple wears without bagging out.
The color, also, is highly versatile, which is the main reason I kept it in my new minimized closet. I knew I’d be able to wear it with a variety of scarves and other accessories, plus I can layer it under a quilted vest or leather jacket.
This fringe trim infinity scarf in port is the perfect pop of color in this otherwise neutral outfit.
This time, I kept it casual by pairing it with cropped skinny jeans and Converse sneakers.
The red perforated tote coordinates with the scarf, and I also like how it pulls out the red stripe in my Converse. I often find myself wearing red when I wear these shoes. This bag is no longer available, but I linked to a similar one below. Sole Society and Poverty Flats make a ton of cute bags at a moderate price point.
Shop all bags under $100 at Nordstrom.
This is the perfect casual outfit for a day working from home and running errands.

Gorgeous look! I’m impressed you are going through your closet! I’m such a clothes hoarder :-)))) But I don’t think I can give it up!! :-)))
I love the idea of purging, it is the execution that eludes me. Haha! I wore a sweater the other day that was 30 years old, I tend to hold on to my clothing.
I just saw that! I’m impressed because it is gorgeous. I wouldn’t want to get rid of that either. 🙂
Such a cute, casual look!
Finally getting emails again. Found one in spam so hopefully it is fixed. 🙂 you & Cyndi together. A great combo. Love this outfit.
So glad! Yes, sometimes they get caught in spam. I hate that.
JoLynne, this is such a perfect every day outfit! Love the red. 🙂
I would love to see you do a post about what you keep in your bag. I find switching out my bag every day to be a huge pain. But I like the idea of using bags that go really well with my outfit.
Definitely! I’ve done that before, but I can do a new one that is more current. 🙂
I can totally hear you girl – I also did some closet shopping for my 1st 2016 post hope you could let me know what you think! Happy New Year!

Straight A Style
I recently purchased an oatmeal top and wasn’t too sure what I would do with it but knew it would look cute with a vest. I simply love yours with that red fringe scarf…unfortunately Nordstrom must have sold out of the red. So guess I will be on the search for something similar. Thanks for the post!
Cute, cute, outfit with pops of red! Excited, but jealous about your trip. Do you two need a chaperone, lol! Hope you feel better quickly.
First of all, this may be one of my favorite outfit of yours! Second, I have a DUMB question! I’m 48 and just got my first pair of Converse tennis shoes (thanks to you and Cyndi.) I notice that yours aren’t tied. I like the way it looks, but I’m wondering if you do something special to keep the shoes from falling off and from looking like you’ve been walking around and your shoes just came untied unintentionally! (See…I told you it was a dumb question!)
Not dumb! This Shoreline style is made this way. 🙂 I typically tie my shoes.
The oxblood looks so good against the oatmeal. It’s the perfect canvas for the colour to shine and I love how you’ve managed to find the exact same shade in the bag! A great casual outfit.
Happy New Year to you, Jo-Lynne

It was a complete coincidence! I guess I just love that color. Haha!
Cute outfit!
What kind of socks do you recommend with those Converse that don’t show or slip? Do you have a go-to brand/style for that purpose?
I don’t wear socks. 🙂
Your whole outfit looks great and easy to wear, but that bag in that colour is just awesome!
Hello, gorgeous! You are like a fine wine…just get better with time. This is truly a simple outfit, one I could probably almost think of myself, almost…and yet with your personal Jo-Lynne stamp, it becomes something a notch above. Love that scarf. You wear whatever color you call that so well. And that bag? Yes, please!!! It is less an accessory and more like an essential element of the whole look. Heading over to Nordstrom via your link to get the Chucky Taylors. Enjoy your weekend. I will be emailing you the questions for The Blended Blog interview. Keep an eye out!
LOL! You crack me up. Thanks, lady!! xo
Loving this cute laid back look! That scarf is fabulous and I am loving the converses!
