I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!! I’ve been compiling this post for the past few days so it was pretty much ready to post this morning. I’ve really enjoyed being online less and making memories with my family like the gingerbread house that wasn’t . . . but that’s a post for another day! Meanwhile, here’s what I’ve been wearing this week. It hasn’t been hard to motivate myself to get dressed because this time of year I’m always going somewhere. It still ends up being a lot of skinny jeans, but I like the variety of color and styles I’ve come up with. Take a look!
Daily Mom Style
DAY 1
It was cold earlier in the week so I dug out my favorite gray cashmere turtleneck and paired it with red jeans for a festive flair. A long pendant necklace breaks up the expanse of gray, and knee-high black leather boots complete the simple outfit. I wore this to my daughter’s Christmas program at the elementary school.
The black leather jacket adds some style to an otherwise plain outfit, and it also offers some much needed structure. Otherwise, the turtleneck looks rather boxy. I keep it in my closet because it is sooooo warm and soft.

DAY 2
I wore this outfit around town running Christmas errands.
It’s just another sweater and jeans, but it’s all about the details in this outfit. The two colors in the sweater play nicely off each other, and I love the contrasting elbow patches. The moto-inspired jeans give the outfit a modern, edgy flair. These ankle boots are super comfortable, and the style works well with the moto jeans.

DAY 3
I’m trying to figure out how to style my camo jeans for winter. I prefer them with my denim jacket, but this time of year I need to be able to wear a winter coat. I found a similar outfit on Pinterest and thought I’d give it a try. I never would have thought to pair a black striped top with my camo pants but it sorta works. Are you following my Fashion I Want To Try pinboard? This is where I get my fashion inspiration!
Later in the day I decided to try the camo pants with my chambray shirt and a coral infinity scarf. I admit, I didn’t wear this anywhere but I think I would if I had the right occasion. My husband, the photographer was home, so I took the opportunity to try out a few different looks. Whaddya think!?

DAY 4
I wore this sweatshirt with leggings again. So sue me. It’s too comfy! I found these old UGGs in the back of my closet, and I love how the detail on the boots matches the sweatshirt. I wore the top and boots again the next day with jeans. Seriously, this top is so soft and deliciously cozy. You must have one!!

DAY 5
Christmas Eve with really bad lighting. I was hosting dinner before church so I didn’t feel up to wearing a skirt, but I wanted to be dressier than normal so I threw on my black suede pumps for the fun of it. I decided to go for green jeans rather than red. They’re equally festive but not quite as expected. The suede pumps were probably a bit much for our casual worship center, but it’s the holidays after all!!

DAY 6
And finally . . . Christmas Day! I can’t decide if this top is comfy chic or just a cop-out. Honestly, I wasn’t in the mood to feel like I had to suck my tummy in all day long so this seemed like just the ticket. I wore it with my gray cords and black suede moccasins to open presents with the family and then later on I changed into these black velvet jeans before going to dinner at my brother-in-law’s house.
I wore my leopard pumps just for the fun of it. I didn’t think my feet would last all night, but they did! I tend to under-dress and opt for comfort over style, but this week I decided to live it up and I wore high heels twice just because. It was really so much fun, and I’ve decided that I’m 41. If I’m going to wear heels for the heck of it, I better do it now. So expect to see more of them in the future!! I wish I got a close-up. They’re really super cute and you can hardly see the leopard pattern in these photos.
And then there’s The Bag. YOU GUYS . . . I scored this when Kate Spade had their annual Thanksgiving weekend 75% off sale. When it came in the mail, I didn’t even open it. I just wrapped it and put it under the tree. It was fun opening this morning because while I ordered it and knew what it was, I had never seen this one in the stores before. It is bigger than I was expecting, and it is VERY bright, but after carrying it today I decided it’s a keeper.
And the watch . . . a Christmas gift from my husband. I’ve been wanting this ever since I saw it over at Get Your Pretty On. The orange bracelet was another item that I’ve had on my watch list for some time . . . a Christmas gift from my mom!

I have been reading your blog for a while but I don’t think I have ever commented. I am also over 40 and I have a little blog. I started it to help me get out of my yoga pants rut! I am loving your style – I especially like the camo pants with the chambray top. I have never splurged on a handbag but am considering saving up for a Kate or Dooney. I am wondering if the splurge is worth it. I love the bags but I hate to spend that much if I wont notice a big difference from my less expensive handbags. Thanks for the great tips! Susan
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I think with some brands, you are paying more for the name than the quality. Definitely look in department stores, hold them, take out the stuffing and put your stuff inside and make sure it is comfortable to carry, easy to navigate, all that. If you will truly carry it for years, I think a designer handbag is worth the investment, and you can get a good sale if you wait and watch. Also, you can also recoup at least half your investment on eBay if you do change your mind or get tired of it. I take good care of my bags and I do well with resale on eBay. Have fun shopping!
Really like the chambray shirt with the camo pants – the scarf makes the look. I didn’t care for the stipes with the camo. Sorry you liked the bag, I would have taken it off your hands if I could afford it! Love the watch!
I love your look! Pretty, stylish and age-appropriate, you get it just right.
I love the camo pants with the chambray shirt! I’ve been wanting to get a pair but haven’t yet. 🙂

Love you outfits on Days 1, 3, and 6. Love the reddish jeans. Have a similar pair (brighter red) that I may wear tonight to a family get-together. The outfit is cute and looks comfy too! I usually pair red with black. But I like how the gray looks!
LOVE the Banana Republic sweater and the tunic sweatshirt. Sad they are both sold out on their sites, but will keep checking back. Love this post – so good to see your face! xoxo
It’s so nice to hear from you!!! Miss you! xo
Great looks! I think my favourite is day 1, but they all look fantastic. Love the colour of your Halogen sweater in the last look. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too!!
