Welcome back to my weekly Fashion Over 40 post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fabulous fashion bloggers around the web! It’s slim pickin’s this week, y’all. I’ve had a lot of yoga pants days, and the days I have gotten dressed up, it seems like it never works out to get a picture so I’m going to cheat a little bit.
I wore this outfit at least twice this week. It is just soooooo comfy. The boots are basically glorified slippers. I bought them specifically to wear with leggings around the house, but I even wore this outfit to a baby shower on Saturday. The tunic sweater and leggings were both purchased last year at Nordstrom. I love these leggings, and they’re only $36. They have a nice, wide waistband that doesn’t create any awkward lines.
The necklace and earrings are Stella & Dot, as is the bag. The bag is called The Switch because you can unzip the sides and make it much larger. I love the snakeskin; it goes with everything and is particularly cute for fall. This bag has been around for quite a while, and I’ve always admired it when I see other women carrying it, so I finally went ahead and added it to my last Stella & Dot order.

I wore this next outfit to church on Sunday. CAbi sent me this sweater and skirt from their fall collection a few months ago. I envisioned the outfit with ankle boots (I ordered these Kyra ankle boots on sale from The Walking Co. but they didn’t work AT ALL with the skirt) so I had to drop back and punt, so to speak. I resorted to my black riding boots. Normally I’d wear pumps, but I’m still babying a broken foot. I think a bit of a heel would have helped the overall look of the outfit.
I’m not sure why, but this outfit just doesn’t quite work for me. I tried the sweater buttoned and unbuttoned, and it seemed to work better unbuttoned, although I’m second guessing that now that I look at these pictures. Usually a pencil skirt is my best friend, but this one isn’t feeling as flattering as most. I think, even though it’s a size smaller than I normally wear, that it’s still a bit large on me? That’s all I can figure.

Here’s where I cheat. I wore this basic outfit last night to an event at my son’s high school, although I wore it with my new Kyra ankle boots.

And I have pretty much lived in this the rest of the week. (Minus the earrings… and the freshly washed and styled hair…)

So, after finding your blog recently and getting your feedback on skinny jeans for my body type, I wore my first ever pair today. Cuffed the ankle and wore ankle boots. My 15 yr old daughter kept looking at me. She couldn’t figure out what was different at first. But she knew it wasn’t my usual look. 🙂 Thanks for getting me up to date!
That is so awesome! Did she approve??
Definitely! She said, “See? You CAN wear skinny jeans!”
That’s awesome!!!
All are amazing looks- even the one you didn’t like! My fav is the first look! Great as always.

I think the problem with the skirt may be that it’s too long for you. Loving the leggings and sweater outfit.
I love that you say straight out that you don’t know why the skirt outfit doesn’t work for you. Your honesty is so refreshing! I also love that you spent most of the week in athletic gear ( I did too, lol)
Haha! Yeah, I’m still trying to figure this fashion thing out. 🙂 I’ll share my successes and failures, it might help someone somewhere! ANd OMG I live in athleticwear these days. Ever since my plantar fasciitis started up, i feel like I should be in sneakers anyway… and it’s so much more comfy than jeans when I’m just here at home.
