Holiday Party Dress Roundup

Who has dressy holiday events on the horizon? I’ve rounded up a bunch of gorgeous holiday party dresses for your shopping inspiration, along with shoes and accessories to complete your look!

In years past, I would need cocktail attire for my husband’s office holiday party, but this year the party is at the Philadelphia Zoo. (I know… it’s a little unconventional, but evidently they have a cool LumiNature exhibit for the holidays.)

I have to admit, I was bummed I wouldn’t have an excuse to dress up this year, but at least I don’t have to stress over finding the right dress and all the accouterments.

If you, however, have a fancy event coming up and still need something to wear, I hope this post is helpful. (I included a few jumpsuits as well.)

These suggestions also work if you have a black tie optional wedding this winter.

As usual, I tried to find a good variety of price points. The images in the graphic above are only a sampling of all the dresses I found.

In the interest of time, I’m not going to discuss each one, but hopefully this gives you some ideas if you’re still on the hunt for a great dress. At the end, I’ve got some accessories for you as well!

Once you have your dress, don’t forget jewelry, shoes, a bag, and proper outerwear. Your dress is only 50% of the package. If you neglect to plan out the rest of your holiday party look, you won’t feel complete and put-together at your event.

Here are some suggestions.

  1. Just had to comment to say that I would LOVE to see Shrek, the Musical! I’ll have to check to see if it’s in or around Chicago. I love some of the music so much I have it on a couple of my playlists. Loved the snippets on your Instastory.

  2. Well, I sure hope that your day improves!  The schools here are out all week.  The location for a Paul’s office Christmas party sounds cool and I bet it will be very pretty.  Great post for those that need to dress up!

  3. Quick question….we received an invitation for a dinner….invite says ‘formal attire preferred’. Does this mean a long dress?  I’m a total jeans girl, and dressing up is not on my radar.

Your party at the zoo sounds like fun!

  4. Perfect!,,
Was just looking at Eliza J dress yesterday!
Wondering if the length was ok for 5’8
My issue is don’t like too short of dress.
    Love all of the accessories!
Will be picking one to wear to movie
    Premier party!
    Also think jumpsuits really cute!

  5. Thanks for posting this today Jo-Lynne. I’m going to a wedding this Saturday night and haven’t been able to find anything I like. I ordered one of the jumpsuits to pick up at the store today! Hope it fits!

  6. I haven’t been commenting for awhile.  Been behind on reading yours and Cyndi’s post and trying to catch up.  🙂  Just a lot going on in life right now. I do however look forward to them in my inbox.  You always put so much work into your post and I appreciate them.  I heard you are going back to Facebook Lives.  Could you remember to post it the next day for those of us who don’t have facebook, like you use to?  I really enjoy the Lives.  Enjoy your day.
