Here we are again! I went on a little shopping excursion this week, which has breathed some new life into What I Wore Wednesday. WOO!!!! Or at least it will over the next couple of weeks. I finally decided on my BlogHer outfits so stay tuned for next week’s edition of 40-Something Mom Style!
There’s nothing new about this outfit — just my well-loved cuffed Joe’s jean shorts from 6pm.com with a basic black tank (I LOVE this Timeless Tank from Banana Republic. The fit is just so perfect.) I accessorized with a Silpada bracelet and a silver circle necklace from Studio Jewel, and I wore my super comfy black Born flip flops.
A certain little someone wanted to get in on the fun. She likes her cuffed jean shorts almost as much as I like mine!
This is a new top. I picked it up at the LOFT on sale. I love the detailing around the neckline, and the material of the top is a bit nicer than a typical tee. I wish I had a close-up, and of course it’s no longer available online. It came in several colors but I really liked it in the black. And I live by the philosophy that a girl can never have too many black tops . . .
I wore my Silpada multi-stone bracelet and pink sandals and carried my black and white striped tote, which has barely left my side since I got it for my birthday. I absolutely love it. I can throw all kinds of stuff in there! (I wore this to our church picnic.)
Finally, I wore this outfit to run some errands yesterday. White ankle-length DL skinny jeans with a red, white and blue tank from Old Navy and my encircled necklace again. I pulled out a silver beaded bracelet and my silver sandals.

I got some white CK jeans from 6pm.com but it is too darn hot to wear them. And a girl can never have too many black tops.
I always wonder how you can hide the bra straps when wearing a tank top. Any suggestions?
That is so funny. I get this question almost every week. I don’t know — I’m sure they do show sometimes. I try to buy tanks with wider straps so they have room for a bra strap under them. But there are times when they peek out. It’s the nature of the beast, I guess!
I started wearing the tank tops with the built in bra, from Express, under everything. Then it looks cute using different colors. I have them in about every color. I truly haven’t worn a real bra all summer.
I love that all of these looks are really casual but still look chic. Perfect for summer! 🙂
