As the kids get older and are more adults than children, filling their Christmas stockings becomes more of a challenge. I still want to surprise them with fun and thoughtful gifts, but the days of tiny toys and candy-only stockings are behind us.
This year, I found some great options for almost-adult boys and girls at QVC that strike the perfect balance between practical and enjoyable! Maybe they will help you too. Plus, new customers can use code HOLIDAY20 for $20 off $40+ orders!

Let’s start with the TSV (Today’s Special Value) — these Limitless Set of 2 TotalBoost Mini Pro 6,000mAh Power Banks. Evidently, these little gizmos have taken TikTok by storm, and I can see why. They’re so clever! By the way, the video on the QVC website is hilarious — well worth the watch, and also informative. It shows exactly how these work and everything they include.

This power-packed, yet small & portable power bank features a rechargeable lithium ion battery, built-in kickstand, flashlight, and digital battery level indicator display. They come in a set of 2, so you can give as a set or divide them up.
Each set includes the power bank, a faux leather case, carrying strap, 3 standard charging adapters, 3 long charging adapters, and a charging cable. Basically, it will charge any device you have, and it comes in a nifty little case with carry strap.

I have the black set, but there are lots of options, with a bunch of fun colors and prints. These are perfect for travel, or keeping in a purse or backpack while on the go. And for TODAY ONLY, you can get the set for the unbeatable price of $59.98.
I also love this Pristine Screen XL All-in-One Spray & Wipe Screen Cleaner 4 Pack to split up for stocking stuffers. The really cool thing about this screen cleaner is, the case is designed to use as the “cloth” to wipe it dry, so you just spray, swipe, and go! I actually have one of these from a different brand, and I use it on my laptop screen, smartphone, and even on my eyeglasses.

The cleaning spray is a light micro-mist, so it doesn’t douse your screen, and it comes with a case so it doesn’t accidentally spray into your purse. It also has a beveled edge, so you can even use it on your glasses or makeup mirror. These sets also come in a bunch of fun color choices, and they’re a QVC Big Deal right now. The set of 4 is just $24.98, which brings them down to less than $7 each!
Then there is this Tenikle Pro S/2 Universal Bendable Suction Cup Phone Mount for $29.98. This clever gizmo was introduced on Shark Tank, and it’s been gaining ground ever since. The octopus-like “tentacles” make it super flexible, so you can contort it in all different ways to suit your needs. Use it as a phone holder for your car windshield, a camera mount for your travels, or even a phone tripod for your desk.

I’ve actually been needing something like this for when I want to talk on my Instagram Story or record myself applying makeup or opening a package… basically anything I want to do hands-free without breaking out my big tripod. I’m pretty sure my kids will find many uses for one of these too.
And as usual, QVC also has a bunch of nice beauty gifts. This tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Vinyl 5-Piece Set is a Black Friday Deal. I love the tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump, which is also a Black Friday Deal, but I wanted to try something new, and Maracuja Juicy Lip Vinyl is touted as tarte’s glossiest, shiniest, juiciest formula yet. Sign me up!

It has what they call flexi-plump technology to smooth, plump, and nourish your lips without settling into fine lines. This gift set comes with five gorgeous shades ranging from petal pink to cinnamon, so once again, you can give it as a set or split it up for stocking stuffers or gift basket fillers.

I also grabbed this Sigma Beauty Obsessed Brush Set, but mine hasn’t come in yet, so I’ll share a photo from the website. Sigma makes The Best makeup brushes; the ones I have, I’ve had for years, and this set comes with five gold brushes inside a matching beauty bag.
It includes the F80 Flat Kabuki Brush for applying foundation, the F36 Tapered Cheek Brush for blush and bronzer, and three eye shadow brushes — the E35 Tapered Blending Brush, E57 Firm Shader Brush, and E15 Flat Definer Brush. Any beauty-obsessed girlie in your life will love this gift.

Finally, the Bobbi Brown Eyes All Aglow Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick Set makes another nice option to give together or separately. I have the Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Shadow Sticks, which I like, so I was curious to try the Bobbi Brown. Again, mine haven’t arrived yet, so I’ll have to report back on how they work out for me, but I wanted to give them a shout-out since they’re a Beauty IQ Steal.
This set comes with five Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks in a variety of colors, as well as a 0.2-oz Smokey Eye Mascara in Black. I’ve never tried a Bobbi Brown product that I don’t like, so I can recommend this without reservation.

Great ideas! Stocking stuffers are a must in our house along with our traditional Xmas breakfast! Both deemed the best part of my adult children’s Xmas traditions!
We still do stockings for our two adult boys. I put gift cards of favorite eating places in their stockings. My husband adds car wash coupons. I may find something small to also add. One year I added small spatulas since they had moved. Another year it was ornaments of their favorite sports team. My kids will even add things to our stockings. Now that everyone is an adult, the stockings are more fun than the gifts.
Love these ideas!
My son is 17YO and opening stocking gifts is easily his favorite part of Christmas morning! I find it kind of fun to shop for these little gifts for both of us. Last year I included one of your ideas, a portable phone charger. 🙂
Funny that you should bring up stockings for adult children. I decided just this year to stop and my children are a bit older than yours, already out of college and moved out. One son bought his own place and the other recently moved in with his girlfriend. So I think it’s time, don’t you think lol!
I have one child who is 33 and lives out of state. I still do the stockings! In fact, I send one for him and one for his partner as well. I also individually wrap each item (just in wrapping paper scraps, nothing fancy) to make it fun. Some stocking stuffers I do/have done: cold medicine, Tylenol, band-aids (fun ones like SpongeBob), travel-size things (like toothpaste), candy, and socks. His partner likes to bake, so last year, I included yeast packets in his stocking!
Those are great ideas! I’m going to refer back to these comments.
I just last year quit doing stockings for my adult children. I realized they were getting two stockings, one at their homes and one at my house. They are in their 30s by the way. Stuffing a stocking for an adult is much more expensive than when they were kids. They were actually sad about it, but all understood.
It’s definitely expensive! I try to do a mix of drugstore candy and toiletries and a few more “fun” gifts like the ones in this post.
My girls, in their 40’s, still want their stockings. I tried to get them to give them up 10 years ago but no way. “That’s the best part of Christmas “ they said.
I now do stockings for 2 girls, 2 grandkids and 3 dogs!!
Haha! And the dogs.
I remember my MIL doing this for years after her son and I were married. I have to say that it was always fun to see what she came up with…..usually small stuff from shampoo and other small personal items (she had a great memory and took note of what people used and liked). I don’t buy scratch offs for myself; she would put them in there and all us would have fun doing them and seeing if anyone won anything. Great memories of the holidays.
That’s awesome. I wish I were better about noticing the small things they like.
I do all the stocking stuffers for our kids, but my husband always gets lottery tickets/scratch offs that he adds to their stockings. They love it!
Great ideas! I have a similar power bank that I just used all over Europe. It was a lifesaver! My three kids agree with yours. They all agree that stockings are the best part of Christmas! lol My parents stopped doing stockings for us when I got married (I guess my brother just had to suffer?). Only one of my kids is married but I haven’t stopped because they love them so much. And now I do a stocking for my daughter-in-law and my other son’s fiance as well!
Haha! Same for my brother. He’s 4 years younger.
We still do stockings and now four granddaughters. But somewhere along the way, when the kids were teens, they started adding small things to the stockings. Fun for everyone.
Stockings…. We still hang kids and grandkids over the fireplace (their stocking, not them, lol!) because they’re all handmade & unique to them, and they love to see them when they come for our family Christmas party. We don’t fill them anymore. We stopped once they weren’t here on Christmas morning- which was when the grandkids realized Santa came to their own homes. Now, we go to each home on Christmas Day to participate in each family’s traditions that they’ve created. Scott and I STILL do stockings for each other! Thankfully they’re knitted, so there is stretch and lots of fun things fit in them!! Trip itineraries, candy, jewelry, books, candles, lottery tickets, lots and lots of stuff! My husband has had his stocking, hand knit of wool by grandma, for 66 years! It’s a treasure♥️
That’s so cool. Paul and I never did them for each other. Maybe we should start. I don’t have a whole lot of people that I buy for so It wouldn’t be that much work too do a few extra little things for him. He’s actually a really good gift giver, far more thoughtful and good at noticing things that I like and than I am in return. 🤪
I do stockings for everyone who wakes up at my house on Christmas morning, so my husband and the adult boys/dil IF they spend Christmas Eve night at my house. And I make a special Christmas morning breakfast. I would agree that it’s our favorite part. This is the first Christmas that my single son has had his own home, so I may do one for him regardless of where he sleeps! (He lives within a couple of miles and will come over early, I’m sure.)
Hello – our kids are grown and married. When the first one got married, I suggested no Christmas stockings once you’re married and was met with same resistance as you were! Now I do one stocking per family. I purchased Pottery Barn stockings and had each family’s last name embroidered on them. I fill them with their favorite candy and one surprise for each family – maybe a new card game, or small tools, or kitchen gadgets and a gift card to a fav restaurant. Our oldest granddaughter was married in June so I will start a family stocking this year for her and her husband. They all love this tradition!
We still do stockings and stockings for their spouses. They are my favorite thing to buy for and the adult kids love them. I tend to buy packages of things and break them up. We have 2 of each.
My parents (well, my mom does the buying!) still do our original childhood stockings for my brother, sister and me! It’s one of my favorite things about Christmas. Most of the things she adds are just practical items for me and my husband but always a few fun things too. My sister lives out of the area so my mom sends hers to her and then gets the stocking back later from her.
My kids are all in college or college grads but I plan to follow my mother’s lead and will always do stockings for my kids. My oldest is now married and lives across the country. This year will be the third time she isn’t “home” with us – I don’t send her childhood stocking for fear it will get lost in mail, so I buy a cheap one, fill it and send to her.
My mistake was buying those huge Pottery Barn stockings popular back in the early 2000s – takes a lot to fill them four four kids!
I stopped doing stockings when my children moved out of the house. My youngest moved out earlier this year so my husband and I thought we were going to have our first Christmas morning alone – and that made us a little sad. Well, lo and behold, my middle daughter (age 25) needs some help and has moved back home. So, we will have a stocking to fill after all…and I’m not sad about that. Our daughters (we have 3) have always said they couldn’t wait to get into the stocking on Christmas morning! We always added something fun, something personal, something practical, and something edible! lol
Great ideas! My adult kids love stocking stuffers too. They have always said it is their favorite part because it is a lot of little surprises they wouldn’t thing to buy themselves.
Our family, which includes us (parents), kids (4), grandkids (3) and their SO’s, in-laws and kid’s in-laws, draw names on Thanksgiving and whomever you draw is who you stuff and stocking for. It’s a fun challenge to get to know that individual and surprise them on Christmas Eve with their stockings. The challenge is the accumulation of stockings, but that’s a small price to pay, and some stockings get snagged to use over and over again.
I don’t even do Christmas stockings for my grandkids anymore. My grown kids are married and in their 40’s. Christmas is now celebrated at one of my kid’s house so I quit doing stockings. My daughter has a stocking for me 😊. I buy small stocking stuffers and put them in a bag. My grandkids want money or Amazon gift cards so I don’t have any stress during the holidays. Thanks for all the gift ideas.
great ideas! We still do stockings with our 3 boys youngest in college, one on his own, and middle one just finished grad school. Typically I might add favorite candy or two, socks(buy a bundle at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc) and divide among the 3, chapstick, gum, scratch off lotto tickets, fidgets, Tide stain pen (I think they didn’t care for lol). multi-tool gadget thing (bought at Walmart). I am looking for new ideas this year while keeping it reasonably priced 🙂
We still do stocking for our two adult sons-one 26 and one will be 24 on Christmas Eve and the dog. I do one for girlfriends if joining us for Christmas. Always socks, candy, gum, lottery tickets, hand warmers back when they played baseball in college, and other small items. And a toy and bone for the dog. My 24 year old just asked me if he should hold off buying himself socks and underwear until Christmas. I replied socks will be in the stockings but he can buy himself underwear now. Hahaha
I don’t even do stockings for my grandkids anymore. My grown kids are married and I celebrate Christmas at one of their houses. I can’t remember when I quit stockings. My daughter will have a stocking for me though. I still buy stocking stuffers for the grandkids but just put them in a gift bag. They want money or gift cards for their big present. It makes it a lot easier for me. Thanks for the gift ideas. If this comment is twice my first comment didn’t appear or I didn’t finish it 😔
Great ideas! I picked up the screen cleaners . My kids are 20 and 16 and I still do stockings but struggle with getting g useful items .
My girls (in their mid 20s) still want their stockings too! Always an orange in the toe, a pair of new socks, something chocolate and then some other small items. Last year, for the first time I didn’t have to do my own stocking-my girls did mine and it was so fun!
Your question about stockings made me smile, Jo-Lynne. And I love hearing about other readers’ traditions. I keep thinking I’ll stop doing stockings with my 4 children, ages 31-42, but I haven’t. The two married are local. My son with the 4 youngest grandchildren, comes for Christmas brunch sometime in December, but not on Christmas- he goes to his inlaws’ as his wife is an only child. They all get stockings that “live” at my house. My son’s is his original from Lands End and his wife and children have coordinating ones from there. I live on a family farm with my oldest son and his family of 4 children. (Separate houses!) When I moved here, I stopped doing those grandchildren’s stockings and let their parents take that duty. But I still put a few items in my son and his wife’s stockings because otherwise, they are empty and sad, hanging on the mantle. My daughter joins us every Christmas and I fill her stocking every year. My son, who lives across the country, only gets a stocking if he comes for Christmas, but I always send him a box of his favorite homemade cookies.
Thank you so much for the great ideas! I purchased a few items. We still do stockings for all our children and the oldest is 28. They love the stockings and I can’t imagine not doing it.
Kids are all adults now, and we still do stocking stuffers. They each participate in getting stocking stuffers for the family so it isn’t just my responsibility! Their stockings are all handmade which I did when they were little, and I’ve made stockings for their spouses and my one grandchild. Each stocking is unique to them and they love seeing them hung over the fireplace.
I still do stockings for my adult children. One of them lives out of town, so her stocking stuffers get wrapped. I haven’t broached the subject of giving them up yet, but they are 42, 39, and 37, so that conversation could be in the near future! I do think they still appreciate it, too, like your kids.
I will do stockings for my children and grandchildren as long as I am able. For the adults it’s not the content or cost but the tradition and thoughtfulness. It is challenging as my kids ,in their forties, and grandkids get older, but it’s fun for me too!
I still do stockings for the whole family – self included. I think it’s good to share joy & a bit of whimsy!
My mom has tried to get rid of stocking and matching pjs for awhile but we aren’t having. Even my brother who is most carefree and laid back person, had something to say about no stocking. We put things like travel size hygiene products and new tooth brush, scratch off tickets. my mom and I collect these things all year. so it’s not as expensive. these are some great ideas
My kids are 44 and 39 and they were not at all happy that I wanted to discontinue Xmas stockings! I don’t mind it, and I usually find some unique ideas, but as you said it’s just one more thing. Now I have the grandchildren too! I tried to get everyone to pull a name and then only gift items that spell out the name. For example: Paul – p for pretzels, a for ankle socks, u for unsalted nuts, and t for truffles. We would set a certain amount of money maybe $15 each. I thought it was a fabulous idea, but they said they didn’t have time for it!
We still do stockings but everyone contributes to them. Each person gets everyone else two stocking stuffers. That way Mom isn’t on the hook for the whole thing.
Nope- no stockings at my house anymore. I think I stopped doing them when my youngest was in high school. It felt like more of a chore for me. Christmas Gift shopping in general has greatly reduced for me over the years as my kids have grown into adults. They buy whatever they want or need now which makes it harder to pick out unique gifts. Even my extended family doesn’t really exchange gifts anymore (except for my parents who we always get a special experience for them like tickets to a theater show or something like that). I asked my older son if there was a special event or experience he’d like as a Christmas gift this year and he said, “help with a down payment on my own house would be awesome” 🤩😆
Oh my gosh reading these comments made me cry. So many special traditions shared here. Lots of memories created.
I recently suggested to my 25 year old daughter that I stop doing Christmas stockings & she was not for that idea at all!! 😂🤷♀️
So the tradition continues… 😃
Thanks for the helpful post!
We have always done stockings for adult children and we now have grandchildren, so the tradition will continue, I suspect, for a very long time. My son once declared it was one of his favorite parts of Christmas because he never knows what I will come up with to put in their stockings. (In our case, they have bags, not stockings, full of goodies from Santa) Under the tree, each adult gets one gift from us and the grandkids get four, something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. The stocking/bag is my opportunity to give them all the fun stuff I have found for them.
I have 4 children with the oldest being 24 and the youngest 17. About 5 years ago we decided to draw family names (my husband and I included) and fill the stocking of the person we picked. We set a $ limit and as they were young at the time I gave the money to purchase items for the person they picked. They have loved this! It is fun to see what everyone comes up with and eases my burden to do all the stocking gifts. We do an online drawing of names on Thanksgiving and it is top secret who gets who until Christmas morning.
Many great ideas! I have had the same wondering about stockings. I discussed with my kids-same response! lol One of my daughters suggested we all buy one of our own favorite things from the past year to place in each other’s stockings. It was a hit with all! I consider it a step towards sharing stocking stuffers. I do think they would almost rather have stockings than larger gifts. It’s the fun and excitement it brings-a little memory of childhood Christmas.
Funny you should bring up the Christmas stocking’s! This is the first year I won’t be filling a stocking for our children. Our daughter is 30 married with two small girls ages 1.5 and 3. Our son is 28 and just got married this past spring. They decided they would prefer the money which in our case each stocking started to cost $150-$200.00 to go towards a gift instead! They would be filling stockings for their spouses so it just became a lot. The grand children will have their stockings and that’s it. Even my husband and I aren’t filling stockings this year. It’s certainly a change from our tradition but as the family grows and things change I’ll go with the flow! I will say it will be nice to not have all those small things to buy and I can just focus on the big gifts!
What a topic today! When I was growing up, we traveled to see family before Christmas and I never had a stocking. Fast forward to young adulthood, my MIL got us a combined stocking and it was filled with practical and fun stuff – book of stamps, roll of quarters (imagine!), and kitchen items. I loved it so we did stockings every year for the kids. Now the kids are in their 20’s and it is still going strong. My son’s girlfriend is a stocking recipient too.
Our family with adult children only do stockings!
My adult children think the stockings are the most fun part. Their spouses were somewhat confused but have since joined in the fun. Great post!
Well my kids love the stockings the best as well. Since my one daughter just got married I now need to make her husband a stocking. That means ordering one of those Bucilla kits and stitching appliqués and sequins. Hope it’s done in time lol.
Thanks for the suggestions Jo-Lynne. I purchased some of those Pristine things. great idea!
Jo-Lynne, thanks for the nice variety of gifts. My kids are in their early 30’s and we still do stockings for them ( and the spouses of the married ones). They seem to enjoy it still!
My adult kids insist on the stockings, but I don’t stuff them with gift items, I put their favorite candy and snacks in it and lottery scratch offs but nothing else. This works for them, they rather get the bigger gift they really wish for than “little things” in their stockings.
I have done a stocking for my daughter’s whole life and she’s 50 YO. We now have 11 grandchildren and they each get a stocking, too. It does get harder as they get older.
Great Ideas Jo-Lynne………I stopped doing stockings after high school. They too loved them and it was hard to let them go, but they also understood it was getting harder to fill them with good usable things. They all agreed it was okay to be done. Plus, I was thinking ahead when grandkids came and I knew I could not do all 3 of my adult kids and spouses and all the grandkids too. Just seemed like too much and by then it was up to them to do their kids stockings anyway. I was wondering why people would choose this bigger power pack over the thin smaller ones that fit so nice in purses etc.? I don’t have either, but need to get one and for my husband that is forever messing with his cord collection when we go somewhere. Yikes. I have over the years simplified Christmas and try to focus on the real meaning of Christmas. For all the years my kids were home, I did 3 gifts each and stockings, as I always said the wise men brought Jesus 3 gifts…. 🙂 Then once they got married and all 3 had spouses and the grandkids started coming, I just had to cut down, so now I do 2 gifts each, but I always seem to add another in for the grandkids. LOL It helps me stick to a limit and not over due, as my kids don’t like their kids to get too much either, as they receive from their parents and their other set of grandparents too. I shop ahead early and I find it so hard to not keep buying more, so try to just stick to my 2 gifts each and it really does make shopping easier and cut down on stress. I’m all for cutting down the stress and enjoying the holidays. I’m not Martha Stewart and so its best not to try to keep up with her. LOL
Yes, we still do Christmas stockings too! Glad to see I’m not alone. 😉
Thanks for the ideas!
Snagged the chargers and received an extra $20; thank you for sharing these great stocking stuffers, gift ideas! Love putting stockings together even though it’s just my hubby, myself and our oldest son who still enjoys a stocking on Christmas morning. He’s 31!! I think it’s fun to find things to fill it that everyone will use. Our younger son a d his family live out of state and I don’t make them one unless they’re coming home for the holidays. Gift cards, lottery tickets, work gloves, favorite snacks/protein bars/nuts, cheeses (keep in fridge til opening tho), toiletries, small tools, even scissors and duct tape are great and much needed. I always search for items that are practical, like others commented.
I love Bobbie Brown cream eyeshadow sticks. They’re one of my favorites. Long lasting and easy to apply. I’ll be looking forward to hearing your review.
Our only child, now age 46, insists on having stockings for Christmas. She wants one for her dog and our two cats also. But in our house, you take care of Mom’s stocking or you get a lump of coal next year!
We do not do stockings. Great ideas though!
Stockings are a must at our house. I do them for my husband and he does mine. I do them for my adult son, daughter in law and 3 year old grandson. I like to put small toys or gadgets, Lotto tickets and everyone’s favorite candy. Comfy socks and new toothbrushes occasionally 😂
I appreciate the stocking stuffer ideas! I always have money or gift cards, candy, and small gifts in the stocking. I miss getting a stocking at my parents’ house every year. Everyone (and everyone’s pets) who came had a designated stocking even if it was just for some cash. My 22 and 24 year old sons like to cook, so last year I added some quality kitchen utensils to the stocking. I think they could use the power banks you featured.
I have been using the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow sticks and the Smokey Eye mascara, and they are my favorites that I have reordered a few times. The eyeshadow is so easy to blend, and it travels better than a powder set. I love that the mascara does not flake or smudge even in the rain, yet is easy to remove. It adds a little color and definition, nothing dramatic, but perfect for me. I have sensitive eyes, and I have no issues with those products.
How heavy is the Vince crewneck cashmere you pictured?
Hi Jo-Lynne! We looooove Christmas stockings at our house. I do stockings for anyone home on Christmas Eve (including my husband)….and my husband does one for me. We enjoy coming up with gifts that are edible or usable or funny. No wasteful stuff. We “open” them one item at a time and it’s so good! This might al change if grandchildren are ever on the scene 🙂
