The Jeans I Can’t Stop Wearing

When it comes to denim, I am usually wearing MOTHER or PAIGE. Of all the jeans I’ve tried over the years, these two brands fit me the best and align most closely to my personal style goals.

In my opinion you just can’t beat the fit and feel, the overall quality of materials and workmanship, and the attention to detail that comes with these two brands. Yes, they’re spendy, but because I pretty much live in jeans, the cost per wear averages out over time.

I have two go-to pairs of MOTHER jeans that have been getting the most airtime recently.

The MOTHER Dazzler is my favorite pair of straight ankle jeans, and the most-worn pair of jeans currently in my closet.

MOTHER The Mid Rise Dazzler Ankle Fray in Riding the Cliffside (also at Bloomingdale’s and Shopbop) (size 29) // SUNDRY sweater (1) // P448 Monza (39) (budget option) // YSL sunnies (budget option) // Jenny Bird earrings // YSL camera bag (budget option)

These jeans have a 9 3/4″ mid rise with a 27 1/2″ ankle-length inseam and a 13″ leg opening, and they’re made of an incredibly soft and stretchy 78% Cotton 16% Modal 4% Polyester 2% Elastane. I love this vintage-inspired light mid-indigo wash for casual everyday wear.

FIT TIP: If you have more athletic legs, they may fit more like a skinny, and I recommend trying The Tomcat. The Tomcat also has a higher rise, for those who prefer that.

The MOTHER Dazzler pairs perfectly with sneakers, as I’m wearing them here. While longer and more relaxed denim styles are coming back into vogue, I still like this body-hugging look with a sliver of ankle showing.

The wider leg opening is what keeps them looking too much like the legging skinny jeans we were all wearing in the twenty-tens.

I wore these jeans recently with my new LØCI sneakers and Rails wool jacket over a cashmere sweater. I love this color combination, and as you can see, these jeans work with lots of sneaker styles.

This denim style also looks great with the popular UGG Ultra Mini Boots.

And I like to wear them with ballet flats and loafers when I want to level up my look.

I usually wear the MOTHER Dazzler with flats, but sometimes I wear them with a low heeled bootie. As long as the shaft is narrow enough to slide underneath, I’m good.

My other favorite pair of MOTHER jeans right now is the The Weekender Fray, which is a high rise full-length flare with a frayed hem.

MOTHER The Weekender Fray Jeans (also at Bloomingdale’s, Saks & Nordstrom) (size 29) // Treasure & Bond jacket (S) // Nordstrom cashmere – on sale (S) // similar boots // similar belt // DIFF sunnies // Coach Dakota handbag

These jeans have a higher 10 3/4″ rise and a 31″ inseam with a 20″ leg opening, making them a subtle flare.

For me, this is the perfect length to wear with a bit of a heel, and the medium indigo wash is so versatile.

MOTHER The Weekender Fray Jeans (also at Bloomingdale’s, Saks & Nordstrom) (size 29) // J.Crew vest (S) // Jenni Kayne cashmere sweater (S) // Paul Green boots (sold out)

They pair perfectly with all of the neutrals and colors in my closet, and I find myself reaching for them over and over again.

MOTHER The Weekender Fray Jeans (also at Bloomingdale’s, Saks & Nordstrom) (size 29) // Splendid cardigan (S) // Dolce Vita boots (8) // Jenny Bird earrings // similar pendant

Both of these jeans run true to size for me. I’m almost always a 29 in jeans, and that is what I wear in both of these styles.

  1. Wow thank you! So much denim goodness to be found on sale here! Question: Can you remove the tassel on the YSL bag? I’m shopping for a designer black crossbody and I’ve admired your YSL style for awhile. The only thing holding me back is the large tassel.

    1. No, you can’t, and I thought it would bother me before I got it, but it doesn’t at all. It doesn’t look as awkward in person as it does in pictures online. (In my opinion, lol. I actually really like it.)

I love, love, LOVE the black with black hardware. I don’t like to have 2 of the same bag, but that one has been calling to me for ages. It’s so edgy and chic, and you don’t have to worry about gold or silver conflicting with the other hardware in the outfit.

      1. I appreciate your input. The special points deal is almost too good to pass up (considering I’ve been shopping for a bag for awhile 😉). Happy Thanksgiving!
