Two Stylish Athleisure Looks with Sweaty Betty High Shine Leggings

nordstrom disclosure

Hey, friends! I’m back today with two casual athleisure looks I’ve been loving lately. Both feature these Sweaty Betty high shine leggings.

I love how the sleek finish gives them the look of faux leather leggings with all the comfort of your favorite workout gear.

The 11 1/2″ front rise keeps everything nice and smooth through the midsection, and the 24″ inseam is slightly cropped, or ankle-length, depending on your height.

They stay in place and don’t slide down, and they have plenty of stretch for the ultimate comfort and freedom of movement. For size reference, I’m in the medium.

The key to making leggings look intentional is to have the right tops. Tunics tend to be be shapeless and unflattering, but these days, there are tons of options to choose from, and some are actually really cute!

I wanted to keep these looks ultra casual and sporty, so I chose two sweatshirts from Nordstrom’s activewear department.

First, this After Class Sweatshirt is pretty much the epitome of the studio-to-street vibe that is Sweaty Betty’s claim to fame.

It comes in a bunch of solids and prints, and of course I was drawn to this pink tie dye. I love the oversized fit, and the way it’s cut longer in the back with deep side slits. It also has a lot of interesting seaming details, as well as extra long sleeves with thumbholes.

This sweatshirt is perfect for throwing on over your tank top after your latest sweat sesh to meet a friend for coffee, or you can just wear it with your favorite leggings for a casual day at home or running errands.

It runs true to size, with an oversize fit. I have the small.

I wore my Brooks running shoes with this look because I like how the subtle blush tones complement the pink sweatshirt. This is the ombre/black/primrose colorway.

My sporty backpack is also by Sweaty Betty. The one I have with the rose gold hardware sold out, but I actually really like the black hardware on this year’s version. This bag has a lot of organizational compartments, including a padded laptop sleeve, should you want to bring your work along.

For another option to wear with my new high shine leggings, I picked up this buttery soft Alo Soho Pullover.

This sweatshirt is so, so soft, ohmygoodness… The second I touched it, I knew it was coming home with me.

I was drawn to the simple styling, and I like the banded hem, for something different.

Because it’s so plain, it will also look really good with patterned leggings. In fact, I wish I’d thought to photograph it with my Vuori camo leggings for this post, but I like the simplicity of this look with the black high shine leggings as well.

This top comes in several colors, and it runs true to size. I have the small.

I wore my On Cloud X training sneakers with this outfit, in keeping with the monochromatic palette. Even my water bottle and iPhone match! #itsthelittlethings

I also recently added this practical Longchamp tote to my closet. It’s a great little weekender bag, or it would work for the gym, or as a casual laptop bag/tote for your day to day life.

  1. Yay! Good southern choice and good proximity to day trips to experience the beaches, parks, trails (and shopping! Miramar Outlets are close by!)
We are about 30-40 minutes south on Marco and we ride up to visit friends in Cape Coral when we are here.
Relax, and enjoy looking forward to your getaway. Warmth and sunshine are what you all need 💗🌴

  2. If you love a great view and awesome caprese salad i sugguest you try: Lighthouse 14301 Port Comfort, Sanibel and of course in cape coral you MUST go to Ford’s Garage for lunch or dinner!

  3. So happy to hear your vacation is planned. It is stressful to do all the planning but definitely something to look forward to. I’m hoping we can take a vacation this year but need to wait until we have our vaccines.
Love those high shine leggings, they look so good on you!

  4. So glad you’ve got everything settled for a trip away! With the borders still closed and the many self isolation restrictions we have no idea when we will be able to travel to Florida or anywhere other than our Atlantic bubble!! For now we are excited for a family get away to a cottage at the beach this summer! Fingers crossed 🤞… I love both of these outfits and just received the crackled black leggings which I’ve been debating on keeping or returning but seeing how you’ve styled these I’m going to keep!! Love the grey sweatshirt I’ll be taking a look at Nordstrom Canada 😉. Have a great day:)

  5. I have those same Brooks shoes–love them! I only bought Saucony for years and decided to see what all the hype was on the Brooks. Kicking myself for not getting their shoes years ago. Great for people with high arches. Love these looks, you always seem so put together.

  6. Hi Jo-Lynne, so glad that you have a vacation booked! My province is in lockdown with additional stay-at-home orders so I will be going nowhere for a long time. I look forward to travelling vicariously through you.

  7. I LOVE those leggings and the tie dye sweatshirt as well. Those On Cloud shoes are so fun. They brought a pair out for my husband to try when he was getting new running shoes this weekend, but he found “the pair” before trying them on. That’s the first time I’d heard of them. Yay for getting vacation planned. I need to do the same. Have a great day! XO

  8. Love the high shine leggings!  I would have never looked at them twice but with your post, will take a look.  I tried posting on yesterday’s post on the AG jeans but  the comment didn’t go up. Not sure if it was me or tech snaffoos: those jeans are super flattering, a nice alternative to skinny jeans and will take a look for myself. So glad you booked your trip.  Vacation planning can feel like a part time job especially when you haven’t visited a region before and have to do a ton of research.  Did you choose a rental house or hotel resort in the end?  The break away will do you all good: fresh sea air, sunshine, time at the beach,  a break away from the monotony.  Good for you!  It plunged into deep freeze temps here -6F (insert eye roll).  Will warm up to the 20s by Friday: yay!  So your trip to Florida has got me dreaming.

    1. Hm, that’s odd. I do remember approving one of yours that got stuck in the moderation queue. We chose a rental house. We don’t want to be sharing a pool or other public areas, so we decided to find something where we can just hunker down and stay put if we want. It has a pool. 🙂

  9. Hey Jolynne,

Been eyeing that sweaty Betty tie dye for a while! Interesting, your price is different than on the Nordstrom website. Did you find it on sale somewhere else and do you think they’ll price match?

    Have a great vacay!!♥️

    1. I can’t control the price that shows in the widget. Sometimes a few colors are on sale, so that is the price that shows. I can choose not to have prices showing at all… would that be better? This is the 2nd time this has happened, and I hate that it looks like bait and switch.

  10. Congratulations on getting your family vacation destination locked and loaded!  I know all of you are really looking forward to a change of scenery.  Great outfits in this post!  Because pink is one of my signature colors, I really like that top.  I ordered a similar looking one from Amazon yesterday, that Cyndi shared on her blog.  I hope y’all get some of the snow that’s out there!

  11. Sweaty Betty is my favorite. I have been wearing their workout clothes for years. I love the high shine leggings and may have to add them to my closet!

  12. Can you compare your Brooks to the ON shoes? I have the Brooks but was debating on trying the ON pair. Is one better for walking or running or just for running errands?

    1. The On Cloud pair I have are trainers, but they do make running shoes. They don’t look like they would have the support and stability of the Brooks, but everyone’s feet are different and some people don’t need as much stability as others.

  13. Glad you got your vacation planned. We haven’t had one for years due to my chronic migraines and can’t really plan as good chance we can’t go. Now with covid on top of that I feel so antsy to get away on vacation. Too chicken to catch the virus and with my husband in health care he knows all that’s going on so doesn’t want us out and about yet either. Getting a house where you aren’t sharing pool etc is good idea. Don’t let your guard off while eating out etc. stay safe and have fun. I like your outfits today…..What I wear a lot of these days. I haven’t tried Sweaty Betty before.

  14. I live in Cape Coral! Moved here from Atlanta in 2003. I hope you love it! You will need to drive to Ft Myers Beach / Lovers Key or Sanibel or Nokomis to get beach time. (Long time reader, might be my first time posting). 🙂

  15. You MUST try Loveboat Icecream…… best icecream EVER! It’s located on San Carlos Blvd in Ft Myers…..made on site and so many yummy flavors! Be prepared to wait in line but it’s totally worth it! It gets crazy during Springbreak of course preCovid when you can be in line for 30-45 mins but it’s so GOOD! There’s also a location on Sanibel I believe. Enjoy!

  16. Jolynne, YAY!!!  This is a great decision.  My husband and I were there for six weeks and we loved it!  You will be close enough to Ft. Myers, Sanibel Island, Naples, and Marco Island to expand your experience if you’d like.  I would suggest checking out Lobster Lady Restaurant/Fish Market, , Ford’s Garage, and Mia Iguana for food.  There are also some good restaurants on Sanibel Island.  I hope you and your family have a great time!  If it weren’t for hurricanes I would live in that area year round. 😊

  17. I just bought those exact Brooks shoes yesterday at a local shoe store. They feel so good!
I’m really glad you planned a vacation. I hesitated to comment earlier because I didn’t want to seem insensitive. My husband have taken 2 trips since last March and were very impressed with the safety of the airlines & resorts & and felt totally safe every time we dined out. We wore our masks when we weren’t eating/drinking and even visited a few wineries. We felt like we’d rather wear our masks & hand sanitize & go on vacation than sit home & be more depressed. My sweet dad passed away in May and to sit on a beach in the sun (not closer than 10ft from others!) did wonders for my broken heart. We got tested when we got home & quarantined. I completely understand that my comfort level is not everyone’s & we all have to do what’s best for each of us.
Thanks for your hard work & welcoming this community of awesome women to your blog!

  18. So excited for you to getaway to Florida!  Definitely need to spend some time at Sanibel and Captiva Island, they are gorgeous. I am sure you will see dolphins swimming in the ocean, we always have while visiting there. Make sure you stay for the sunsets…also gorgeous!!  Another place that is fun is Matlacha…that is on your way to Pine Island. Enjoy!!!
