What I Wore Lately Vol. 93

It’s been such a whirlwind of a few weeks, I had to look at the calendar to verify what day it is. Apparently it’s Wednesday, and that means time for What I Wore Lately!

This is where I share the outfits I’ve worn over the past two weeks and a little bit about where I wore them and how they came together.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 28 or 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

This first outfit harkens back to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I spent the day working from home and prepping for Thanksgiving dinner, and this is what I threw on to walk the dog. (Yes, I can easily walk a mile in those P448 sneakers!)

I spent the rest of the day wearing the performance top and joggers without the jacket.

We hosted a small group of Paul’s family for Thanksgiving, and I wore this casual outfit. I wore my P448s (and covered my clothes with an apron, of course!) while I was prepping food, and I changed into the boots before our guests arrived.

By the way, these boots are 40% off at Nordstrom and fully stocked in this Dune Nubuck!

I spent most of the next day at home working on the Black Friday post and social shares, but I took a break that afternoon to go get our live Christmas tree with Paul and Becca. No one wanted to wait for me to make myself look presentable, so I just threw on this cozy sweatshirt, jeans, and boots and ran out the door without a lick of makeup on.

I rarely go anywhere looking like this, but some days it’s just the way it is. These boots are so old, but it had been raining, and I knew it would be muddy, so I didn’t want to wear my good Sorels or my new UGGs.

Skinny jeans definitely look more polished with boots like this, but I don’t even have any at the moment, and I really don’t care that my jeans don’t tuck neatly inside.

I wear this outfit a lot for my daily walks, now that it’s really cold here. I snapped a quick picture to share on Instagram since it was all on sale that weekend. These pants are actually still on sale! They’re marked down to $99 from $119, and then you can save an extra 30% with code SALE30.

Athleta Inlet Jacket (S) // Athleta Flurry Seamless Turtleneck (S) // Athleta Altitude Pant (S) // Brooks Ghost 14 (9) // Apple AirPods ($65!)

We had tickets to see Tina: The Tina Turner Musical in Philly that Saturday, so I figured coated denim was in order! I started to grab my black coated bootcut jeans, but I decided to go with these chocolate brown and an oatmeal sweater combo — it seemed more appropriate for Thanksgiving weekend.

I debated pumps or boots, but I eventually went with the boots. They seemed more weather appropriate (it was cold!) and because they have a little more visual weight to them, they help balance out the slightly oversized sweater.

And speaking of the sweater, I purchased it last summer on an amazing sale at Saks OFF 5TH, but it has since sold out. The Vince Weekend V-Neck also comes in this White Sand color, but some of the other colors are 30% off at Nordstrom right now.

I topped it all off with this plaid coat, but it’s from last year so I can’t link it. I found some similar plaid coat options here, here & here.

I threw on this easy outfit to take Caroline to the airport that Sunday morning, and I wore it the rest of the day.

Then I had a photo shoot on Cyber Monday morning, and I worked from home the rest of the day in this comfy outfit.

I’m missing pictures from Tuesday, but I think I wore this Sedona set.

Vuori Sedona Half Zip c/o (S) // Vuori Sedona Wideleg Sweatpants c/o (M) // J.Crew cashmere socks

And this is what I wore last Wednesday. This sweatshirt is so soft and cozy, I wish it was still linkable! I tried to find something similar.

And this is what I wore last Thursday to go to the nail salon and run some errands afterwards.

I chose one of the new OPI holiday colors; it’s called Bring out the Big Gems. And if you’re thinking looks just like the color I had last time, Got the Blues for Red, you would be right. They’re very similar, but I love this new one. It has such a pretty shimmer to it.

This is another one of my walk the dog outfits. It’s about all the exercise I’m getting these days…

Vuori Restore Hoodie c/o (S) // Athleta Flurry Seamless Turtleneck (S) // Athleta Altitude Pant (S) // Brooks Ghost 14 (9) // nail polish

Saturday was our ladies’ Christmas Tea at church, and I wanted to wear one of these two LOFT sweater dresses that I shared in my last Try-On Haul.

green dress (S) // black dress (S) // tights (B) // boots c/o (8)

I like to see what I look like from behind, especially in dresses. I have rather wide hips, and the rear view can make or break an outfit. In this case, they both look okay, but I feel like the green is more slimming through the waist area.

Here’s the black fair isle sweater dress outfit, complete with the earrings I was planning to wear. I feel like the color palette is striking, and I like how it’s festive without being too literal.

But I ended up going with this green dress. I like how it downplays my broad shoulders, whereas the fair isle design almsot exaggerates them. And the green with metallic threads and the jeweled buttons at the collar just seemed more appropriate for a Christmas Tea.

Monday was a crazy day, with a new contractor picking up where the former one left off on our guest bathroom, and fielding phone calls with my daughter’s doctors and school staff to figure out how to get her through this semester while sorting out the medical issues she’s dealing with. I managed to get dressed before my morning started to unravel, but I never made it to hair and makeup. Oh, well!

Equipment Madalene (S) // AGOLDE Riley Long Jean (29) // Veja Esplar (39) // similar pearl earrings

Later in the day, I was scrolling Instagram and saw this picture of Amy Jackson wearing a similar style jean with black lug sole boots, so I thought I’d give it a try with my Blondo boots from last year. (These are almost exactly the same, and on a really good sale.)

Of course, a cool coat like she’s wearing would go a long way towards completing the look… along with hair and makeup, haha! But I do kind of like this boot + denim combo.

Then yesterday, I put myself together to take Becca to a doctor appointment. It was cold and rainy so I pulled on my new LOFT fair isle turtleneck sweater and another pair of bluejeans.

I wanted to wear the Dolce Vita Volli boots in Dune Nubuck… these colors are perfect together!

LOFT fair isle sweater (S) // Mother Dazzler (29) // Dolce Vita Volli (8.5) // similar pearl earrings

But, it was raining, so I decided I better wear the Aquatalia weather proof boots, and this darker tan suede looks pretty good as well.

Alrighty then! I need to hop off here and get ready for a photo shoot. Alison will be here shortly. Have a great day!

  1. I have the green dress from Loft and I’m thinking about wearing it to a wedding shower in February but I’m concerned about the weight. I normally run cold so a warm dress is a plus but when I tried this on I was hot. Maybe my bedroom was just too warm. How are you finding it, Jo-Lynne?

  2. I absolutely LOVE the grey Equipment sweater and keep checking it out every time you post it, Jo-Lynne. How heavy is it? I struggle with heavier sweaters except in the coldest temps. Everyone keeps their heat higher in the house/building than we do and I’m always hot. I can say I was not hot last year when we went to Alaska for Thanksgiving and it was below zero. I wore a silk cami under cashmere all week. Love the OPI nail color. I may try it tomorrow when I get a mani,

  3. Absolutely love that black/white fair isle sweater dress, I’d love to order but unfortunately it would just sit in my closet, it looks really good on you!

  4. I love all the outfits on you, the Loft fair isle turtleneck is so pretty. Love the Vouri long hoodie and black workout pants, the hoodie in pine was sold out when I checked; love a longer jacket to cover the bum when its cold outside. I just purchased a Free People oversized denim jacket for that reason and can wear over a sweatshirt too. The outfit I can relate to most is your Christmas tree hunting one, love it! That’s how I wear my jeans with similar old boots and I think they look cool bunched up like that. Looking forward to wearing my DV Volli boots, have tried in the house and think they will be comfortable. Glad Becca felt like tree hunting!

  5. In my opinion there’s a lot of skin benefits if you don’t wear makeup every day and you look just fine without it. I ordered a pair of the Kut coated jeans with the zipper on the legs, just tried them on yesterday, and I really like them. Larry loves them on me because he said they show my backside. I look forward to styling them after I get them laundered. 🙏 for Becca!

  6. I love your daily outfits post so much. I wouldn’t worry about the days with no hair/makeup done. It’s real life, and you’re beautiful without it! I hope Becca begins to feel better soon – mono takes such a long time to get over, and her school is accommodating. Just be sure she rests. Mono is not to be taken lightly. I am praying for her and you!

  7. I liked this post and see you wear a lot of rough edge jeans. I think I am a bit older than you, but I feel like this look is too young for me. I only wear jeans to work on Fridays and try to look professional and put together, so these don’t work of me. I don’t wear frayed or deconstructed jeans either. I did just order the dolce vida booties. I sure hope they fit and are comfy. Love the looks with these shoes.
Thanks, I’m new to your blog and look forward to learning a lot from you.

    1. I don’t believe destructed jeans are an age thing; it’s more about personal style. If they don’t feel authentic to you, then definitely pass on them, but if you like the look, you might try a subtle pair for casual weekend wear and see how you feel in them. I’ve always loved the look, but I felt a little funny wearing them at first. I also think quality is important, especially when wearing trendier styles as we get older. Hope that helps! 🙂
