A Fun Way to Wear White Jeans for Winter

Nordstrom disclosure

Hey there, I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and scored a few good deals! Today I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to style a white jeans outfit for winter.

This look was inspired by this gorgeous plaid scarf; I love the combination of grey, white, blush, and beige. It’s super thick and soft and cozy, and it was begging to be styled with white jeans.

I started out by putting it over this grey cashmere blend sweater by Reformation. I ordered this sweater in a medium for a slouchier fit, and it’s a really nice quality. The cashmere is lightweight but luxe, and it feels buttery soft against the skin. It’s 24″ long, so you can front tuck it, and I sometimes do, but I left it out here for a more relaxed look.

My white jeans are the Mother Insider crop style, but the Mother Hustler is the ankle length version, and I think the outfit would look more balanced with a longer inseam. I also found this pair for less, and they’re very well stocked.

I wore ankle boots in a light grey suede, but unfortunately, they’re low inventory. This pair would work, though, and some of you might prefer the lower heel.

I threw a denim jacket on top to keep the look light, but if you’re in a very cold climate, you might prefer a wool coat. This is a fun look for a mild winter day, and you can always wrap up in the scarf if it gets chilly.

A pair of chic sunglasses and classic leather tote complete the look! I also added pearl earrings and a silver link bracelet.

What do you think of this look? Do you wear your white jeans in the winter?

  1. Hi Jo-Lynne,
Thanks for this post, I love the thought of wearing white jeans in autumn/winter but when I try at home something doesn’t quite work & I end up wearing something else! I love the different colours & textures you’ve put together & they all work really well. Hope your feeling better & thanks so much (following from the UK)! X

  2. What a pretty scarf! I like white jeans in winter. But I always seem to get them dirty, maybe from rubbing against my car, which is hard to keep clean in the winter. I also like the way you wore a gray top instead of camel or blush to match the scarf. Great outfit!

  3. Love white jeans all year long 🙂 does the Mother Hustler or Insider come with a rise of about 10-inches ? I was searching on Nordstrom website and everything seems to be 11-inch rise, which I find way too high for me….I really want to get a pair of medium wash but just cannot find the right rise. Thanks !

  4. I really like this and think most of us could recreate this outfit with similar items. This could be worn now and in the spring.

  5. I love this outfit. The scarf is beautiful. I still haven’t embraced the cropped jean with higher shaft booties yet, because I don’t know how. So, thanks for the inspiration. It is also nice to see the lighter colors for winter. For some reason I tend to gravitate towards grays and blacks. Thanks for sharing this outfit.

  6. What a beautiful scarf! I really like this outfit and you look very nice! I do not own a pair of white jeans because the rear view makes me cringe. I hope your workout appointment went well!

  7. Hi Jo-Lynne,
How do you deal with the crop jeans and sitting? I find I don’t like the look for that reason. Love the outfit colors!

    1. I don’t know – it doesn’t bother me I guess. If I’m wearing darker colors, I wear socks so I don’t have a flash of pale skin. With this outfit, though, I don’t really mind if skin shows. Or I would wear a light oatmeal color socks.

  8. Many times I have chosen a scarf to wear, then create my whole outfit around those colors! So fun! And I also love wearing my white (natural/winter white actually), jeans in the winter. Love your choice of boots and bag. Also love the denim jacket but would probably wear a black leather jacket instead.

  9. Cute outfit! I like wearing my white Jean’s in late winter with sweaters and jackets. They feel like a good transition piece. I like them in early fall for the same reason.

  10. I like the colors of the outfit and the scarf is gorgeous. To my eye, there is something off with the proportions on those cropped jeans. Not for me. The bulk of the scarf and the shortness of the jeans, just throw it off. I am having a lot of difficulty with this trend. Call me stuck in a rut?

    1. I know what you mean. That’s why I said I thought I would like this outfit better with the Hustler style, which is an inch or so longer. Also, if I had front tucked the sweater, it would make for better balance of vertical proportions. I should try it again and share a mirror selfie comparing the options. Maybe in this weekend’s try-on haul.

  11. Love the white straight jeans & boots combo! I would love to see them with a light colored chunky lug boot & a long coat just to balance out proportions a bit! I think the Jean jacket might pair better with loafers in the Spring! You look gorgeous in everything though!

  12. What a beautiful scarf! That outfit is so fun. I love the idea of white jeans in the winter, but living in the NW, the constant rain and splatters are not a good combo for white. I usually have to save mine for drier Spring days or Summer. But, it’s fun to see posts that I can dream of!

  13. Love the scarf colors and it’s not a bad price. So glad you got on the steriods for your tooth, sometimes you just got to hit it hard with the meds; anyhoo hopefully you’ll progressively improve now. We actually have sunshine today here in eastern NC!

  14. I had to chuckle at the “always starting over” comment. I completely get that! So me, too… But you are absolutely correct: where would we be if we didn’t start over?? That’s a great perspective. Keep on!
And good luck with the tooth. That’s no fun at all.

  15. I love this look with the neutral colors. You look great. I just can’t get past the no white pants after Labor Day. I’ve never worn mine after that and don’t bring them out again until maybe March at the earliest. Depends on the weather. We have some rainy Springs here. I need to try a Winter look with them. Especially on the sunny days. Love the scarf. I bought a new one too, from GAP, but it’s longer than I thought, so feels bulky when wrapped up. I wore it during our snow, but haven’t since. I’m much shorter than you. It kind of over powers me. I just love scarves and wish they were back in like they were before when everyone wore them all the time. They just add sooo much. I went through mine over a year ago and got rid of so many. All the infinity ones went first. Yours looks great.

  16. PS. Thanks for being real and sharing about your work out/ walk times. Helps to hear it happens to others. I’ve been beating myself up about not being able to be consistent. I’ve been trying to do 30-35 min walk a day but since I got covid in November, the weather and my migraines it hasn’t been happening like I wish. You are right, we have to keep getting back out there. It’s sooo good for us mentally too.
