How to Shop the Sale Like a Pro

I’ve been shopping and covering this sale for over 10 years, and these are my best tips to making the most out of this sale.

Build your Wish List now.
Go ahead and add everything you’re interested in to your Nordstrom Wish List before your access opens. When it’s time to shop, you can move much faster instead of trying to browse the entire sale.

Shop online first—even if you’re planning to visit the store.
Online shopping opens at 12:01 a.m. ET (9:01 p.m. PT), hours before stores open. If there’s something you really have your heart set on, don’t wait until morning. You can always choose Store Pickup if you want to get your items quickly.

Check out in stages.
Items can sell out while they’re sitting in your cart. If there’s something you know you want, check out with it first, then go back and keep shopping.

Order two sizes if you’re unsure.
Popular items often sell out quickly, and it’s much easier to return the extra size than hope yours comes back in stock later.

Consider expedited shipping.
In my experience, expedited orders tend to be processed sooner, which can reduce the chance of items being canceled before they ship. As a bonus, you’ll get your order faster.

Download the Nordstrom app and turn on notifications.
The app is the easiest way to keep an eye on your Wish List. Turn on back-in-stock and price notifications so you’ll know if something you wanted reappears.

Early Favorites from the #NSale Preview

Alright, let’s get this party started! I’ve spent hours combing through the Nordstrom website to find the best picks in every category, and these are my early favorites!

My Top Denim Picks | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Let’s start with my favorite wardrobe category—denim! There are almost 200 pairs of jeans included in this year’s sale, and yes, I scrolled through every single one.

You’ll often see people say, “If I were building a wardrobe from scratch…” Well, I’m doing exactly that right now. After losing some weight, most of my denim is too big, so I’ve been rebuilding my collection. If I were starting fresh today, these are the three pairs I’d buy first.

My Top Picks:

• A wide-leg jean – MOTHER Hustler Roller Sneak or PAIGE Anessa (I have both on my Wish List!)
• A straight-leg jean – MOTHER Kick It High Waist Straight (This is such a good everyday straight-leg silhouette.)
• A black jean – Madewell The Longline Straight or PAIGE Stevie (Love the subtle fading on the PAIGE pair.)

On My Wish List:

• MOTHER Bookie Sneak Mid Waist Bootcut – If you’re a bootcut fan, don’t overlook this one. It has a more modern, relaxed silhouette, and I’m absolutely loving the faded blue wash.
• Madewell Ultimate Wide Leg Drawstring Airy Denim in Faded Ivy – I already own this style in a blue wash (also included in the sale) and absolutely love it. It’s such a great neutral for fall and a fun alternative to blue denim.

Bonus pick: Brown denim. If you already have your basics covered, this is a fun addition for fall. It has all the versatility of black but feels a little softer and pairs beautifully with all the chocolate, burgundy, olive, and cream we’re seeing this season. I’ve got my eye on these, these, and these.

The Best Shoes & Boots | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

After denim, shoes and boots are my highest-priority category in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Shoes can completely change the look of an outfit, and they’re one of the easiest ways to keep your wardrobe feeling current. This year’s sale has a great mix of timeless fall and winter staples, along with plenty of wear-now styles you’ll be able to enjoy right away.

A few trends that stood out to me: suede loafers are definitely making a comeback, especially in rich shades of brown. I’m also seeing lots of modern takes on the Mary Jane with updated silhouettes and interesting details. Boots and booties don’t feel dramatically different this year, but that’s not a bad thing. There are lots of really solid wardrobe staples in the sale.

My Top Picks:

• Vince Hailey Bootie –I have a very similar pair from the #NSale two years ago and wear them constantly all fall and winter. They’re versatile and easy to dress up or down.
• Blondo Cammie Waterproof Bootie – I wore last year’s version all over Scotland and England. They’re comfortable, weather-friendly, and a classic style I’d absolutely recommend.
• Aquatalia Romeo Waterproof Bootie – Waterproof suede that’s comfortable enough to walk for miles. I have a very similar pair from last year’s sale and can’t wait to wear them again this fall.
• Margaux The Cap-Toe Pointe – A modern classic from a brand that rarely goes on sale.
• Dolce Vita Merit Perforated Sneaker – A great everyday sneaker with subtle contrast trim and floral perforations that are right on trend for the season.

On My Wish List:

• Vince Camuto Kebrah Bootie in Brown Multi – I love the rich texture and deep brown color. The walkable heel and pointed toe will pair beautifully with every style of denim, and the price point is excellent.
• Marc Fisher LTD Sasha Pointed Toe Bootie in Black Suede– I love the streamlined silhouette, sleek pointed toe, and 2½-inch heel. Dressy, but still very wearable.
• Rag & Bone Spire Perforated Mary Jane Flat in Dark Brown Suede– Rag & Bone always nails that subtle edgy vibe, and I think these would look especially chic with wide-leg denim.
• Veronica Beard Gaela Slingback Sandal (Espresso or Chestnut?) – Such a classy heeled sandal. They’ll be perfect with my longer jeans, and the suede will help carry them right into fall.
• Sam Edelman Brandy Mesh Pointed Toe Mule in Brandy – These are the kinds of unique pieces I always hope to find during the Anniversary Sale. A fun statement shoe that still feels easy to wear.

Tops & Sweaters | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of my favorite places to stock up on fall/winter wardrobe basics. There are always great cashmere sweaters and elevated layering pieces, along with a few trendier styles to add some personality to your wardrobe. If you’re still building your basics, this is a category I’d definitely prioritize.

My Top Picks:

• Nordstrom Cashmere Crewneck Sweater – This classic crewneck is back again, and I’m happy to see it still has a traditional fit with on-shoulder seams. It’s perfect for layering under jackets, tossing over your shoulders, or wearing on its own with your favorite jewelry. I usually pick up one or two every year. It’s also available in a flattering v-neck version.
• Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Hoodie – Another great wardrobe basic with a subtle sporty-luxe vibe. It looks just as good on its own as it does layered under a jacket.
• Vince Classic Crewneck Cashmere Sweater – I love the slightly shorter length on this classic sweater. I have it in black and wore it a ton last year. Vince cashmere is especially luxurious if you’re looking to splurge. They also have a beautiful crewneck cardigan and shell set in this year’s sale.
• Caslon Long Sleeve Slub Crewneck T-Shirt – A great everyday layering piece with lots of color choices. I especially like the more open neckline.
• AllSaints Stevie Cotton T-Shirt – I’m happy to see this one included. It has a great shorter length (don’t worry, it’s not cropped!) that’s perfect for layering. Fit tip: Size up for a more relaxed fit; I wear the large. more relaxed fit; I wear the large.

A Trend I’m Loving: Short-sleeve sweaters are still going strong, and there are some really good options in this year’s sale. I especially like this cashmere one and this dolman-sleeve version.

On My Wish List:

• Nordstrom Cashmere V-Neck Cardigan in Beige Beach – I love the relaxed feel of this one. The deep V-neck and raglan sleeves make it perfect worn buttoned up with jeans or open over a cami.
• AllSaints Cruz Ribbed Cardigan in Forest Green – A modern take on the classic cardigan. I love the collar, fine-gauge rib knit, and fitted silhouette.
• PAIGE Meara Sleeveless Organic Cotton & Silk Blend Knit Top in Oxblood – This immediately reminded me of the chocolate brown PAIGE Syrie Top I bought in last year’s sale and wore constantly. I have a feeling this one will be just as versatile.
• Rag & Bone The Stripe Organic Pima Cotton Slub T-Shirt – An elevated striped tee is always a good addition to a fall wardrobe. I love the contrast neckline and the center back seam—they add just enough interest.
• Madewell Button Front Cotton Crewneck Cardigan in Light Umber – This looks like a fun piece at a great price!

Coats & Jackets | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Coats are one of the best places to get the biggest bang for your buck during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. They’re a bigger investment, which also means some of the best savings. I always have a hard time getting excited about buying a winter coat in July, but I’m never sorry once the cold weather rolls around. If you’re in the market for a new coat, this is one of the smartest categories to shop.

My Top Picks:

• SPLENDID | x CJ Crop Icon Coat – I expect this one to sell out quickly! The shawl collar and wool-and-cashmere inset cuffs make it such a fun statement piece. It was one of the first items I added to my Wish List.
• Barbour Hebrides Longline Waterproof Jacket – I actually ordered this last year but ended up returning it because I didn’t need another long raincoat. It’s a beautiful classic, though, and well worth considering if you’re looking for a longer waterproof option.
• Rails Blake Jacket – A lightweight layer that is right on trend with the stand collar and drawcord hem, but still classic enough to wear for years.
• Caslon Bubble Hem Cotton Twill Jacket – A similar look at a much lower price point. The Olive Sarma color is definitely on my Wish List.
• Madewell Shrunken Leather Zip Jacket – I’ll never be without a black leather jacket, and this one has such clean, classic lines. It reminds me of one I bought during an Anniversary Sale several years ago and wore constantly.

Also worth a look: The Rails Collins is another longtime favorite. It’s a timeless style they’ve carried for years, and this season’s Espresso Brown is a beautiful update. The AllSaints Orten Leather Bomber is back again this year, too. It’s another classic that tends to sell out quickly.

Handbags & Luggage | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you’re in the market for a new handbag or suitcase, this is a great year to shop. AWAY is back with some of my favorite luggage in beautiful new colors, and I found some really good handbag options, too. Shoulder bags are the style I’m seeing most, with structured bottoms and a little slouch through the top. I’m also seeing lots of suede, a few fun prints, and plenty of practical everyday styles.

My Top Luggage Picks:

• AWAY The Bigger Flex Carry-On Suitcase – My favorite carry-on for carry-on-only travel. It fits in most overhead bins but holds more than a typical carry-on. The expandable zipper is a lifesaver when you need a little extra room (or end up checking it on the way home).
• AWAY Large Featherlight Backpack – My most streamlined personal item and perfect for carry-on-only travel when I’m packing light. It slips over your suitcase handle or can be worn as a backpack when you need to move quickly through airports or train stations.
• AWAY The Medium Flex Suitcase – Perfect for longer trips when you don’t mind checking a bag, or as a companion to your carry-on when you want plenty of packing space for everything you’ll need.

My Top Handbag Picks:

• Tory Burch Limited Edition Convertible Crossbody Bag – Tory Burch is back, you guys! After a pretty underwhelming showing the past few years, this is such a gorgeous classic. I kind of want all three colors.
• Tory Burch Classic Tote – Another timeless option, if you prefer a larger everyday bag.
• Madewell Shopper Tote – I bought this in navy during last year’s sale, but I think the neutral color options this year are much more versatile. It’s a great carry-all for work, travel, or those days when you just need a bigger bag.
• Madewell Mylie Suede Shoulder Bag – Another favorite from last year’s sale. It’s the perfect everyday size with just the right amount of slouch, and suede is especially on trend this fall.
• Reiss Large Mia Suede Frame Clutch – If you have your basics covered, this is such a fun option for fall. I love the rich chocolate brown suede and the on-trend frame silhouette, and it has a detachable chain for hands-free carry.

On My Wish List:

• AllSaints Alba Shine Leather Shoulder Bag in Garnet Red – I love the shiny deep red leather, oversized slouchy silhouette, and edgy zipper details.
• rag & bone Uptown Convertible Shoulder Bag (Black Leather or Chocolate Suede?) – Such a great everyday bag with an understated design and just enough detail at the adjustable buckle strap.
• Vince Medium Vivian Raffia Hobo Bag – The perfect wear-now-and-later bag. The raffia feels summery now, while the deep latte color and black trim will transition beautifully into fall. (And it also comes in a smaller version.)

Also worth mentioning: The STAUD Tommy Beaded Shoulder Bag is such a fun statement piece if you’re looking for something a little different.

Accessories & Jewelry | 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

For some reason, I’m especially excited about the jewelry and accessories this year. Jewelry trends are definitely shifting, and I’ve been working on building a better collection of statement pieces to mix in with my everyday favorites. There are some really good options in this year’s sale.

A few pieces on my Wish List are this chunky resin bangle set, this brown and black beaded necklace, and this layered coin necklace.

I also found some great belts, sunglasses, and a beautiful lightweight cashmere scarf. It’s the kind of piece every wardrobe should have—perfect as a wrap with a dress on a cool evening, cozy on a plane, or simply draped around your neck to add a polished finishing touch.
