Winter Outfit: Moto Jacket + Leopard Scarf

Welcome back to 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Cyndi of Grace+Beauty and I have teamed up to bring you 25 winter outfits, and today is Day 22!

Would you believe that I’ve had these pictures since our fall fashion series!?! I just never got a chance to post them, and I keep waiting for a day that I’m behind, but I’m actually doing pretty well keeping up with the daily outfits.

So after sharing two outfits in a row that I wasn’t 100% sure of, I wanted to post one that feels just right.

I love how adding a moto jacket and a scarf can update a boring basic outfit. A sweater and jeans is a typical winter outfit for me. It’s perfect for working from home and driving the kids to their various activities, but if I want to take it up a notch and wear it to church or to meet my husband for lunch, all I have to do is throw on a scarf and a trendy jacket and I feel chic and ready for almost any occasion.

This sweater is several years old. I got it at Banana Republic, and it’s a wool blend so it holds up well. It is hard to find this classic style of sweater these days. Everything tends to be more oversized, but I did manage to find a couple that I linked to below. I’m enjoying the new styles, but at the end of the day, the structure this outfit provides is definitely more flattering to those of us with, ahem, fuller figures.

The ankle boots I’m wearing with this outfit were gifted from Marmi Shoes. They are so super comfortable, I can’t even tell you. Yes, they’re a bit spendy, but they are worth it if you have it in the budget. (And they’re currently on sale for $180, down from $225.) A similar and cheaper option is the TOMS Desert Wedge High, which is on sale for $78, down from $98.

I wore these Silpada Half Moon Earrings because I wanted something substantial enough to balance the scarf and jacket, and I didn’t want them to get lost in my hair. Then I just added my favorite silver link bracelet.

I cuffed my skinny jeans into a wide single cuff. You could also do a narrower double cuff. It’s up to you!

Also, if you work in a professional environment, you could easily swap out the jeans for black ponte pants, and you’d have an office-friendly outfit.

I carried my moto hobo, which is currently on sale for $227 at Amazon.com with code BAGSNMORE. I really love this bag, and I have found myself carrying it so much more than I thought I would. It has a way of elevating the most basic of outfits and keeps them current. I know that’s still pricey for some budgets, so I tried to find a similar knockoff to link you to, but I haven’t had much luck. If you find something, let me know!

  1. Speaking of budget…how does one determine a proper clothing budget for self and family? Any tips in this area?

    1. I am pretty sure that I’m the wrong person to ask. Haha! I would be curious to hear how people determine this – if it’s a percentage of take home pay, or a percentage of funds left after the major bills are paid each month, or what. I just watch my credit card, and if I can’t pay it off, I stop spending. It isn’t a highly scientific approach and probably not the wisest strategy. 😉

  2. This is definitely your ‘goldilocks’ look! You are simply stunning, and the confidence shines through in the pictures. What a blessing you are to me and my fashion-learning sisters.
