April Favorites 2021

Greetings and happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my April Favorites — a roundup of new finds and old favorites that I’m particularly loving right now.

April Favorites 2021

one // Mules are one of my favorite styles of shoe for transition season, and this pair by Steve Madden is a great price point. The chain detail and pointy toe are nice details.

I love the ivory, but I’m also kind of crushing on that raffia pair for summer. These run true to size, or you may want to size down if in between.

two // These Good American Good Legs are my go-to white skinnies for spring/summer. They’re thick and soft with excellent shape retention, so they never bag out, and they have a gap-proof waistband.

They run true to size; I have the 28. You can find them at Nordstrom and GoodAmerican.com. (You might get a pop-up with an offer for $30 off your first order with Good American.)

three // My favorite nail color for spring/summer — CND Studio White is a milky white that really pops against a summer tan. I get the gel when I go to the salon, but the Vinylux formula is perfect for at-home manicures.

four // I’m loving the R Minkoff hobo for an everyday bag. It also comes in a versatile caramel color, but I do find myself carrying black quite a bit in spring/summer. It’s a soft pebbled leather with a contrasting interior, with a slouchy hobo style that is right on trend. You can find it at Nordstrom and the R Minkoff website.

five // This twist detail t-shirt is a nice alternative to a plain v-neck or scoop neck tee. It’s extremely soft and comfortable, and it washes up well.

It also comes in black and white, and it’s only $20 at Nordstrom. It has a relaxed fit, but I wouldn’t say it runs big. I have my usual size small.

six // I’ve been wearing these studded slides every chance I get. I love the “cafe” color because it’s such a nice rosy shade of beige that elongates the leg, and the shiny silver studs give off that rock-and-roll glam vibe that I like so much.

seven // I’m bummed that this St. Tropez set is on backorder — it’s such a good deal! If you can’t wait, Nordstrom has 15% off the full-size tanning mousse and the mitt, but they’re sold separately. If you want to try the smaller size set, it’s 15% off at Nordstrom as well.

eight // Another QVC find, I’ve been using this duo at night, and I wake up with smooth, moisturized, vibrant skin every morning. The Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream Oil is a night cream, and the Plumping Pillow Facial works like an overnight mask. Each one is sold separately, but this is a great price for the pair.

nine // I’m loving the Victoria Emerson smartwatch bands — it’s such a fun way to bling up your Apple Watch. My exact one sold out, but the Sasha Apple Watch Strap has similar colors.

ten // This elevated hoodie gives a sleek and sophisticated off-duty vibe to your favorite jeans and sneakers. It runs true to size, and it’s currently 40% off + Extra 10% off with code BRTHX.

eleven // File these under “spendy but worth it” — I am mildly obsessed with these jeans. They’re pretty much all I want to wear right now, partly because they are soooo soft and comfy, but also because I love the laidback vibe.

I realize they aren’t for everyone, but if they fit your personal style and your budget, definitely grab yourself a pair the next time they go on sale. You won’t regret it. (They are not on sale anywhere at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye on them.) Saks has the best inventory, but you can also find them at Nordstrom, Shopbop, Bloomingdale’s, and Revolve. They’re TTS or size down if in between.

My parents are arriving shortly for a visit, so I’ll be taking the rest of the weekend off. See you Monday!

  1. I may try the Elemis products. I have always had dry skin and it seems as if this winter it caught up with me. I have a good routine that scientifically should be battling dryness, but late in the day, my makeup looks dry and flakey. Blargh. I love the Mother jeans. I’m trying to resist them. On another topic, Jo-Lynne, should we be getting emails when you or someone responds to a post we’ve written? I’m not sure I’ve gotten one since your new website went up.

    1. Yes, you should. When I tested it, they were working. Ugh. I hate technology. Maybe check spam?

If you’re dry, I would recommend the other Elemis night cream – the heavier one. This is more lightweight for summer.

  2. I am inching towards purchasing the mother jeans, however I don’t care for all the distressing. Seems like somewhere you referenced the same jeans without distressing. Please advise! Thank you

  3. Good morning. I giggled yesterday when you mentioned putting away your winter clothes as I thought the weather is just too up and down during this season. I have a good friend that holds herself at bay yearly to wait till after Mother’s Day to buy & plant flowers. I’ve adopted that rule as well since I’ve moved to the Texas Panhandle.

I always enjoy your “favorites” posts. I actually bought those mules last summer during a sale – but then had knee replacement surgery so I didn’t wear them much. Can’t wait to wear them when it warms up.

Have a great visit with your parents!

  4. Love the recap! Have a wonderful visit with your parents . Hope you get some nice weather to enjoy outdoor activities. Ours is supposed to turn warm again tomorrow fingers crossed 🤞

  5. Just an FYI Replies are not coming through in an email.

How exciting that your parents are able to come for a visit! It’s been too long. Enjoy!

  6. I purchased the mules in both ivory and black and love them as well as the twist detail t-shirt in both gray and black.
Question-did you purchase the Isabel stud slide sandal in your true size 8 or did you have to size up or down? I broke my ankle last year and don’t want to walk out of the slides.

  7. Always a fun post! I love those sandals, but I need an arch. Rats! I’ll just keep admiring them when you post pictures. Also, I’m echoing the others….I’m not receiving emails that you replied on a comment, either.

  8. Just a note: Not receiving replys either. I hope you have a great relaxing weekend visiting your parents.

  9. Have a great time in Lancaster and Philly with your parents! We love going into Lititz when in the Lancaster area. I see you went to Wilbur’s. We ate lunch near there, I think it was called “Tomato Pie” or something like that! Such cute little stores and restaurants. Enjoy! The weather is perfection!!
