Hi friends! I’ve got so many pictures from my trip that I decided to go ahead and post today. This is a black jumpsuit outfit I wore out to dinner with friends when we were in Miami.
I love a black jumpsuit outfit for a dressy night out because it has the easy one-and-done benefits of a dress with the comfort of pants!
It’s always nice to come back from a trip like this with a good store of pictures, but sometimes the featured items start selling out before I can get them all out to you, so I’m always eager to start sharing.
This jumpsuit is currently fully stocked, but you never know with LOFT! It’s also 30% off today and it comes in both petite and regular sizes.
It’s made of a super soft and comfortable jersey knit, and it’s great for travel because it packs easily and doesn’t wrinkle too badly. I gave it a good steam before I left and then carefully folded it flat in one of my packing cubes. I hung it up in the hotel closet when I arrived, and it was ready to wear when I wanted it!
It has a flattering v-neck and cap sleeves, and the wide legged silhouette is flowy and flattering.
I also like the way it ties at the waist, and you can place the knot wherever you want it; I tied it off to the side.
There’s an easy button closure at the back of the neck, so it’s easy to get off and on, even when you need to… ahem… use the facilities.
I’m wearing these Wacoal shaping shorts to keep everything smooth underneath. They’re fully stocked at Macy’s but on sale at Bloomingdale’s. I also wear these under all my white jeans and pants, so I have several pairs.
I kept the look simple with strappy beige sandals. I absolutely love these! We had to do a fair bit of walking that night to get to the restaurant, and my feet felt fine. The flared heel is only 2 3/4″ high, and the tubular straps are soft and comfortable against the foot.
I accessorized with a delicate silvertone layered necklace (similar here) and dangly silvertone orbital earrings.
My silver multi-strand bracelet and two-tone watch are on the spendier side, as they were both Christmas gifts from my husband. I linked up similar styles under the picture below, as well as for my YSL wallet on chain.
jumpsuit (S) (petite sizes) // heels (7.5) // bag (similar for less) // earrings // similar necklace // bracelet (similar for less) // watch (similar for less)

Curious about your thoughts on packing cubes. I have been thinking of trying them as many people swear by them when traveling.
I have a love/hate relationship with them. Haha! I think they’re good for organization but I’m not sure they help me fit more in a suitcase.
I’ve been looking for something to wear under the J Crew slip skirt I just got so I ordered the Wacoal shorts you suggested. Bloomingdales stock is slim but Macy’s is fully stocked. Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers
Do you wear the Wacoal shaping shorts under all jeans? I’m looking for comfortable underwear that don’t show panty lines.
No, just white. But you can.
I really like the carefree and funky vibes of that (and: love the way the shoes elevate the look so, that, it doesn’t feel tooo much like a slouchy pair of “cargo overalls” lol)! The other way of pulling-off that look, though albeit more “bodycon” for what the average person’s modesty level may be, is: to take a black yoga tank unitard and, pair it with a cardigan or big shirt as well a sash belt. I remember it that way in the ’90s.
I am wanting some shaping shorts. I was curious what size you wear?
Medium in the Wacoal.
What great pictures and perfect jumpsuit.
Regarding the packing cubes: I have some that we’ve had for 20+ years that I use for my undergarments and any other items that will be put in a drawer. I just don’t trust the cleanliness of drawers/shelves in rental spaces, so keeping my items in the cubes gives me a piece of mind. And the cubes keep those smaller items organized.
Good idea, Ginger–thanks! I always wipe out the drawers with a disinfectant wipe, too!
I love this jumpsuit, and my husband thinks it is very flattering, also. I haven’t worn it anywhere yet, but thought I could provide some addtl sizing info, which I always find helpful. I am barely 5’2″ and 128 lbs, small boned/shoulders & 32G. I ordered Petite small & Petite med. Both fit, but small felt slightly short-waisted and was shorter length. The medium felt more comfortable & correct length with a med heel, so keeping. So cute, travel friendly & versatile, even for a 68 yr old! Thanks for introducing us to it, Jo-Lynne. Can’t wait to wear!
Hi again, Jo-Lynne & all: For years I have been looking for shaping shorts that don’t dig into my thighs & are not so long that they are visible on a short gal if you wear under a pencil skirt or sheath dress and sit down. Spent so much money trying to get ones that work for me! From the reviews & your recommendation, it looks like these might be it! Surprised, tho, that wearing an 8P in everything, including pants, Wacoal’s size chart says I need XL (they call sz 12-14). Will probably try that sz & see. Macy’s also has these 2 for $54 currently.
Thank you!
You look great in the jumpsuit. The shoes are so cute. I could definitely wear them if I didn’t have an ugly bunion on my left foot. I always have to look for bunion friendly shoes. I’m going to have to look for a similar style.
Curious if you wear the Walcoal shorts under Vuori Performance Joggers? I love the joggers and they are so soft, but on the thin side that I worry about the rear view 🙂
Thank you!
No but you totally could. I usually wear the soma vanishing edge undies under those.
