I’ll admit, my heart isn’t in this post this week, but I do have a slew of photos so here we go.
Day 1
This was the day I traveled to NYC for the Kate Young for Target launch party. You’ve heard all about this outfit so I won’t beat a dead horse.
Day 2
Back to life, back to reality . . . I came home to beautiful warm, sunny weather and broke out my jean shorts and a casual yellow V-neck tee from Old Navy last year.
Day 3
The weather got suddenly cold again. Bah humbug. Did I mention lately how much I hate spring? It’s such a tease!
I wore this outfit to the mall and out to lunch with the NPMA to discuss my new book. I wanted to look professional so I wore my darkest jeans, wedge pumps, a fitted khaki jacket over a magenta top and a bold necklace that I picked up a few years ago at Target.
Day 4
Just an easy Saturday outfit — striped tank, hooded cardi, jeans and ballet flats. I wore this to shuttle my girls around to gymnastics and later on to the mall.
For jewelry, I threw on this long mixed metal necklace and copper hoop earrings, both from Studio Jewel. The necklace I’ve had for a while, but Lisa recently sent me these earrings and I’m really loving them! You can actually see them with my current hairstyle, which is quite a feat! Okay, well, barely! But they’re there!
Day 5
I wore this to church on Sunday. I picked up this maxidress on a whim at LOFT last week, and I wasn’t too sure about it. I have never had a maxidress, and the dressier ones always look kind of much to me, but this I really loved because of the casual vibe. It was too cold to wear it alone so I threw a denim jacket on over it.
I was running really late so I didn’t even bother with jewelry except the copper hoop earrings. I’d love to get a lightweight yellow scarf to wear with it, but the yellow ballet flats have to suffice for a pop of color until I find one.
Day 6
And finally, just a cool spring day, working from home — red jeans, black tank, gray hooded sweater and silver ballet flats.
The necklace is from Studio Jewel. It’s new, and I ADORE IT!!

I love your style updates. I’m 37 and have been struggling with finding a style for myself lately. I don’t want to look frumpy but I don’t want to dress like I’m 23. You inspire me! 🙂
My “uniform” for the past two springs has been dark jeans, t-shirt, and casual jacket with fun jewelry, which is an idea I got from you. The jacket is my secret weapon – always makes me feel put together.
PS – I have been blogging for years now and your blog was one of the first I found when I started. It’s been fun watching your success!
The jacket is really key, and one I need to incorporate more! I was just telling someone the other day that my typical cardi-over-tank is getting old, and I am getting old too! LOL. I think the jacket looks more put together and it offers more structure, making it more flattering. Thanks for the reminder! (and the kind words.) 🙂
oh, oh, oh, love that maxi!! Stripes!! (I really do think I have a problem!) I love the denim jacket and the yellow flats! Totally make the look! 🙂
Ha. I’m loving stripes too!!!
Love your maxi dress! I have two and I would wear them everyday. I love how they are so comfortable.
Wow. You must be having some nice weather. We’ve had rain for nearly two weeks (until today, thank God). I can’t wait to wear some more spring-like clothes.

Our weather has been back and forth. It is getting cold and rainy again this weekend. Boo.
Love your maxi–I have almost just like it I got from TJMaxx.
Love your casual outfits too, especially the pink–that’s a great color on you!
I LOVE Day one’s outfit!!!!
Thanks! ME too. 🙂
Where’s the Day 3 and Day 5 teal purse from? LOVE!
I got it on Zappos on clearance. 🙂 It’s a Rebecca Minkoff, and I absolutely love it. 🙂
I like your style!
Reading the comments it looks like I’m the only one, but I don’t like the dress. It isn’t so bad with the denim jacket, but without it makes you look heavier than you are. I don’t like maxi dresses in general though so feel free to ignore me, obviously! 🙂
Yeah, I was surprised that there were so many positive comments! LOL. I am afraid that I won’t like it as much without the jacket, but I’m hoping a scarf and some jewelry will help. It would be more flattering if I could get the straps taken up about an inch. I’m short-waisted so dresses are hard.
Day 1 outfit is fantastic! I wish I could have gone to that launch, but two kids not in school, I always have to miss those events! I love the first comment. It is so true and a reason I always come back for more. I wore my red jeans (inspired by you!) this week too and posted them!
Can’t find the maxi dress on their website…and I have a Friends and Family 40% off…help!
Where were you in the pic from your book luncheon? The Saturday outfit is super-cute, very coordinated! And I love the maxi dress outfit, but I think you’re right — a yellow scarf would take an already cute outfit to the top!
LOL, that was the dressing room at Nordstrom. I made a pitstop on the way to lunch. 😉
love your style and thanks for sharing… your site is so helpful.
Love that maxi lady!
