When we talk about taking a look from day to night, it usually involves switching handbags, which can be a bit of a pain. You know how it goes. Invariably, you forget to move something over that you need, and you end up with a handbag in every room of the house.
Kate spade has recently come out with a brilliant solution — convertible handbags! I was thrilled when they asked me to take one for a test drive. Take a look.
This is the make it mine bare candace satchel. It’s a great bag on its own, and this tusk color is a gorgeous neutral that will go with practically anything. (It also comes in black.)
But take a look at it now.
With the simple addition of this leopard candace reversible wrap, my handbag and I are ready for a night on the town!
It’s super simple to add the wrap. The straps of the candace satchel are removable, and you just put the wrap on, replace the straps, and you’re good to go! The reverse side is the tusk color, so if you have the candace satchel in black, you basically get 3 different bags out of this one wrap.
I just think that’s the coolest idea since sliced gluten-free bread. They only have one other style convertible handbag at the moment, the byrdie convertible crossbody, but I’m hoping they’ll add more. Both come with a variety of options for wraps to change up the look.
You can also visit the personalization shop for stickers or tassels and straps to make your bag your own. It’s like jewelry for your handbag.
I picked out gold J and S stickers so I could put my initials on my bag, and I was planning to add this pretty flower key chain as a bag charm, but it didn’t really work on this bag, so now I have a new key chain, which I needed anyway.
These would all make great Mother’s Day gifts, or graduation gifts if you know of someone graduating this spring. Or maybe you have a birthday coming up… #justsayin’
Speaking of Mother’s Day gifts, the bracelets I’m wearing are both mom-inspired. This mom engraved idiom bangle cracks me up every time I look at it, and the mom knows best mama bear bracelet is sweet and understated. They make a nice pairing, or of course you can wear them each alone or with some of your other bangles.
Now let’s talk for a second about these shoes. I love how these strappy sandals with the chunky heel instantly elevate my classic LBD into an edgy evening-out look.
If you were to wear this outfit to the office, you’d probably want to wear a more conservative shoe, perhaps a pump, and switch shoes before going out, but you may have a daytime occasion that these shoes would be appropriate for. I would totally throw these on with jeans and a cute top to go to lunch with friends.
I love how the simple switch of a handbag can completely change an outfit, and now it’s easier than ever with the new convertible handbags from kate spade new york. You don’t even have to swap out the contents, just add a wrap, and you’re good to go!

This kind of purse reminds me of the one I used to have (but I can’t remember the name) where they had many different covers you could put on!! It definitely makes changing your purses easy!!

It’s an 8. Thank you! 🙂
That is such a great bag. I am always wanting to switch my purses, but I HATE the hassle of moving everything over. This would be such a lifesaver!

Love your hair, you always look so put together.
Thank you! I promise, that is not always the case, lol.
I love this idea for handbags! I am not a handbag gal, so this is really great for someone like me who may only buy one a year. Jo-Lynne, you look gorgeous in that black dress!

That bag is seriously cool! I kept looking back and forth between pics, because they honestly look like two separate bags.

Great look. Love the sandals. There use to be parties out there and like the gal above, I can’t remember the name, but there were 3 different size purses and you just bought different outside shells in different colors and they were magnetic and held on and you never had to change out the inside contents of your purse. They weren’t cheap, but people were having parties and selling them like hot cakes. 🙂 I don’t like to change out my purse, so therefore, usually have a neutral purse for each season and call it good. I do however love all the handbags and clutches you and Cyndi post and it makes me what to go buy more. 🙂 BUT……….what color? 🙂 LOL
It was a Miche!!! I loved mine!
I am with you Maureen. I still have a Miche and 12 different covers! 🙂 Best invention since gluten free bread for sure! LOL!
They now actually make 4 sizes with a mini size that is new. It is so hard not to keep buying covers, but I have had mine now for 8 years and the only time I swap it out is when we travel, when a cross body bag is easier.
Great post Jo-Lynne.
