Elevated Shorts Outfit

Wow, I had to do a double take when I checked the date. How is it Thursday already? This week is really flying by. Today I’ve got an elevated shorts outfit to share with you.

Evereve Luna Dot Snap Trim Tank c/o (S) // Sanctuary Switchback Rolled Short c/o (28) // Marc Fisher LTD Paxton (8) // Hat Attack straw tote // Kendra Scott earrings // Evereve necklace // Yurman bracelet // YSL sunnies (option)

I get a lot of requests for non-denim shorts, so I was really excited when I found this Sanctuary pair at Evereve. I love how they aren’t super dressy, but they look more polished than denim.

These shorts have a rolled cuff with a button tab and a 4 1/2″ inseam, which is about as short as I like to go these days.

Style Tip: Fingertip length is generally a flattering length of short for most women.

I love how they don’t flare out from the thigh, but they aren’t too tight either. They have a flat front waist with a button and zip closure and elastic in the back for extra comfort. Such a smart design!

These shorts run true to size, or size down if in between. I am very comfortable in the size 28, and I even considered sizing down, but I’m probably going to keep this pair. I don’t like it when my shorts are snug.

I topped them off with this Luna Dot Snap Trim Tank, also from Evereve. I had this top last year in the black, and I loved it, so I was thrilled to see they brought it back this year and added a few more color ways.

This tank is made of a buttery soft jersey fabric, and it has wide bra-friendly straps and a modest v-neckline. It runs true to size; I have it in the small.

I accessorized with silver tone jewelry since the snaps on the top are silver.

These split hoop earrings are a nice twist on a classic, and the layered coin necklace is right on trend. I wish it wasn’t sold out. This one is pretty, but a little pricey.

Here’s a close-up of these sandals. I like how the silver studs coordinate with the other metals in the outfit. This is actually the third year Marc Fisher has made a variation on this shoe, and it’s one of my favorites for adding an edgy touch to my summer outfits. I still have the originals, but I wanted to see how these compare.

It’s hard to see, but they actually have both suede and leather straps. Otherwise, the fit is the same. They don’t have any support, but otherwise they’re very comfortable. Both the footbed and the leather straps are soft and smooth and don’t require any breaking in.

I carried a straw tote to add some warmth to the look, and it’s in keeping with the summery vibe. And of course, you know how I love my oversized sunglasses!

I lost the pair I’d been wearing for a few years, which was disappointing, but they had a good run. I recently replaced them with this YSL pair. They’re a splurge, for sure, but I wear them almost every day. This DIFF pair is a good option for less.

When I need an elevated summer look that is cool and comfortable, and I don’t feel like wearing a dress, this is the one I’m going to be going for. It’s also perfect for warm weather vacations.

  1. Super cute outfit! I already have the original sandals so may need to invest in the shorts and tank. 😜 Do the shorts unroll, for a longer length, or are they sewn in the seam?

FYI – still not getting the daily emails. 🤷🏼‍♀️ There are a couple of other bloggers that I subscribe to and those emails are coming in daily. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  2. I love this outfit all the way down to the sandals. I could see being comfortable and stylish in this summer outfit. Just wish the price points were better. $70 is a lot to pay for shots.

  3. What a great outfit and pictures! If only shoe manufacturers would make jazzy sandals like the ones you are wearing with arch support. Have a great day!

    1. I agree with you, Ginger. In my youth, I would have snapped up all of these cute, flat sandals, but now I have to have arch support. You just have to find the brands that DO have arch support, and start a collection of sandals/shoes that you can wear. And admire all the cute sandals on others 😊.

  4. I primarily wear denim shorts, but I have 2 pairs of these Sanctuary shorts from last year and love them. I might have to order the tank!

  5. I have several pairs of shorts from kohls from a couple of years ago that look just like these. They are comfortable. Button and zipper and flat pockets in front with elastic in back. Even have the button tabs at the cuff. They are Sonoma brand. Kohls usually offers these every year at a very reasonable price.

  6. Love the shorts on you……well the whole outfit is spot on. I’m like you, I can’t believe its Thursday already. I’m all mixed up, as we’ve been out of town at two of my kids houses since last Friday and so getting home last night on a Wed. night threw me off some. We had a great trip celebrating my granddaughters 1st b’day and of course Easter.

  7. Cute outfit. I just wish the shorts came in a longer length. 4.5” is way to short for my comfort level. Maybe I’ll order the tank and see what bottoms I can find in my closet to make it work for me. 🙂

  8. I love this outfit!! Since I am 2 inches taller than you and 15 years older, I prefer my shorts a few inches longer and I would’ve added a thin leather belt. The v-neck tank is lovely and pairs well with the shorts. I just yesterday brought down my boxes of spring/summer clothes! Can’t wait to unpack and work through my “new” wardrobe!! 80 degrees on Sunday….maybe I’ll wear shorts!
