Greetings on this steamy Saturday morning in August! I woke up to condensation on my bedroom windows, and when I let the dog out, the air outside felt stifling. It’s definitely a treadmill kinda day. Meanwhile, I’ve got a new try-on haul to share with you, with a bunch of late summer styles from Evereve!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops, a 8/29 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe.
New-In from Evereve
As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.
Oakley Mesh Top
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Rider High Waist Ankle Slim Straight Leg Jeans (29) – on sale // Vince Pia Wedge Sandal (8) – on sale

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 23″
- Material: Self: 96% Polyester, 4% Spandex Lining 100%polyester
- Care: Machine Wash, Tumble Dry Low
This mesh top with the camo print and black under layer is a great little transition piece for fall. It seems to run a little big, so I went into the store yesterday, hoping to try the XS, but they didn’t have it in stock. All that to say, you may want to try a size down if in between.

VERDICT: Keeping! I actually wore this outfit on Sunday.
FYI, these jeans and the wedge sandals are really good too; both are part of the #NSale that ends tomorrow.
Caroline Seamed Muscle Top in Washed Black
at Evereve (M) // MOTHER The Hustler Roller Skimp Flare Jeans (29) // rag & bone Walker Chelsea Boot (39) – on sale!

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 5/8″
- Material: 100% Cotton Knit; Contrast: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex Rib Knit
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
This is another nice little transitional top, with the faded black sweatshirt fabric and exposed seams. I love the shape of the sleeves and the banded waist that isn’t too form-fitting. I also tried the small, but I prefer the fit of the medium that I’m wearing here, so I would recommend sizing up if in between.

VERDICT: Keeping!
Also, these rag & bone boots are one of the hidden gems of this year’s #NSale. They’re such nice quality, the low heel is very walkable, and the tapered toe is flattering but also casual. The black leather is low inventory, but the Tobacco suede is a nice option too. Prices go back up on Sunday, so this your last chance to grab them on sale!
And I’m calling it now, the MOTHER The Hustler Roller Skimp Flare Jeans I’m wearing above are going to be on serious repeat this fall. I love the silhouette, the wash, the fit, everything!
KUT from the Kloth Zinnia Crop Jacket in Blush
at Evereve (S) (fully stocked at Nordstrom, and also in Gray) // Splendid Faye (M) // MOTHER Rider (29) – on sale // Seychelles sandals (7.5) – on sale

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- Material: 100% Lyocell Weave
- Care: Hand Wash, Hang To Dry
You all know how I love a jacket to complete an outfit, and KUT from the Kloth does the best in a mid-price range. This one is super lightweight, so nice for wearing now and transitioning to a warm fall. (Pardon the wrinkles; it will look much nicer once it’s steamed.)

The light rose/pink color is feminine and pretty; and the boxy, cropped fit is right on trend. I would say this jacket runs true to size; it’s a tad snug on me through the back and shoulders, but I’m afraid it would look dumpy if I sized up, so I’m keeping the small.

Also, these silver sandals are on sale. I don’t really love them with this look; the high contrast against the dark wash jeans is distracting to me, but they’re really cute with white and light wash denim bottoms.
VERDICT: Keeping! I subscribe to the theory that you can’t have too many jackets for leveling up simple outfits. They make casual look so chic.
RAILS Alma Jacket in Black
at Evereve (S) (also at Nordstrom, and also in Ecru and Washed Camel // Halogen sweater (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (darker wash on sale) // rag & bone boots (39) – on sale

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- Material: 53% Cotton, 47% Tencel Twill
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low, Do Not Bleach, Iron Low
Speaking of cool jackets, oh my goodness, Rails does it again. I am trying to convince myself I don’t need this, but then I refer back to my statement above.
Can you really have too many outfit-completing jackets???
Okay, now I sound like a meme. But seriously. This one is so good. From the mandarin collar to the unique drawstring hem (love how it has more of a banded hem as well as the drawstring) and the subtle utility pockets that are just enough to add interest but not overwhelm the lightweight jacket.

This will look so good over printed tops, graphic tees, and short sleeve sweaters this fall.
VERDICT: I am so tempted to keep this, and I totally would if I didn’t have the Evereve Camp Jacket in black from last spring. I like this Rails one a little better, but they pretty much serve the same purpose of a lightweight black utility-inspired cropped jacket. It does, however, come in a Washed Camel… and I do not have a tan utility jacket. You can also see the details better on the pictures of the camel.
Stateside Pima Slub Tank
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (darker wash on sale) // beek Sunbeam flip flops (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22 1/2″
- Material: 100% Pima Cotton Slub Jersey
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low, Do Not Bleach
This is a great little beyond-basic tank, to coin a phrase from Jen at Everyday Style School. (If you aren’t familiar, her podcasts are a must-listen, and I’m not just saying that because I was a guest on one. I binge-listened to every one until I caught up to live, so it was such an honor to be her guest, and she’s just as warm and fun in person as she is on the air.) But I digress…
Back to this tank. It’s made of a soft and lightweight 100% Pima Cotton Slub Jersey, and it has a nice length for leaving untucked or tucking, but what I really love are the details with the raw edges along the armholes and the contrasting trim at the v-neckline.

I love the black so much, but I already have two black tanks that serve a similar purpose in my closet, ironically both also from Evereve — the Mika Smocked Tank and the Sarina V-Neck Tank.
Fortunately, this Stateside Pima Slub Tank also comes in a pretty berry color. (It comes in white too, by the way.)

VERDICT: I bought the berry color, even though my heart is with the black one. I don’t have anything this color, and it will carry over into fall, if our weather stays warm. It will look great with those deep inky blue Mother Rider straight ankle jeans.
LNA Maren Sweater in Bright Red
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (darker wash on sale) // Schutz Dethalia Sandal (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 20 3/4″
- Material: 77% Acrylic, 20% Nylon, 3% Spandex Knit
- Care: Hand Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
With red trending this season, I thought I should add some to my closet, and I love the cut and drape of this fuzzy knit pullover, but it’s soooo thin. You can see from the rear view how the tag and the jeans show through. It also feels like it will snag really easily.
I do like the color and the fit, though, so I’m conflicted on whether to keep or return it.

When I was in the store yesterday, I tried on the animal print version, which had caught my eye online when I was working on my fall fashion forecast (stay tuned!)
The sales associate saw me holding it, and she asked what size I had. When I told her it was the small, she immediately went back and grabbed the XS and handed it to me and said it runs really big. Well, she sure was right! Even the XS seems too big.

VERDICT: I did not purchase the animal print, but I still have the red one in my room. I’m not sure yet what I’m going to do with that… I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Schutz Dethalia Sandal in Croco
at Evereve (8) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (darker wash on sale)

Details:
- Heel Height: 2 1/2″
- Material: Leather Upper and Sole
- Made in Brazil
I’m so happy to see lower heels coming back in style! Also, chocolate brown in footwear is going to be huge this fall, and these croc-embossed leather slides with the chic square toe and 2 1/2″ stiletto heel will be a nice transition shoe for dressier looks. Definitely keeping!
Velvet Ciara Pullover in Red/Ivory
at Evereve (S) (also in Black/Ivory) // MOTHER Weekender (darker wash) (29) // Franco Sarto Alexandria (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 23″
- Material: 100% Pima Cotton Knit
- Care: Machine Wash, Dry Flat, Do Not Bleach, Iron Low
I was drawn to this chunky knit and the raglan sleeves, but it’s much longer and more oversized than I prefer. I know it’s supposed to have a relaxed fit, but I feel like I could try a size down.

VERDICT: The wide red and ivory stripes are giving me Where’s Waldo vibes, and I just don’t love this sweater enough to try the XS, so I returned it.
RAILS Alise Pullover in Sky Navy Stripe
at Evereve (S) (also at Nordstrom) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (darker wash on sale) // Franco Sarto Alexandria (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 1/4″
- Material: 100% Cotton Knit
- Care: Dry Clean Only, Do Not Bleach, Iron Low
Now this is a stripe sweater I can get excited about. And of course it’s from Rails… They can do no wrong lately!
I absolutely love the fit of this one, and the wide ribbed trim, the generous sleeve length, and the Breton stripes look more sophisticated than the wide, evenly spaced stripes of the red/ivory sweater above.
The quality is so nice, and I appreciate the on-shoulder seaming. Plus, the unexpected shades of blue are so pretty and like nothing I have in my closet! This will look great with darker wash jeans, too.

VERDICT: It’s pricey for a cotton sweater, but the quality there, and it’s such a pretty piece. I don’t think I’ll have the heart to return it.
Also, these Franco Sarto boots are one of my favorite #NSale purchases, and they’re still fully stocked. So comfortable and chic, with a walkable 2″ heel.
Saige Wide Leg Crop in Plume
at Evereve (29) (also at Nordstrom) // Rails Alise (S) // Veronica Beard Lada (8.5) – on sale

Details:
- Measurements: 27″ inseam, 21″ leg opening, 10 1/4″ front rise
- Material: 72% Cotton, 26% Lyocell, 2% Spandex/Elastane Denim
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
I ordered these AG wide leg crop jeans at a reader request, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to compare them to my PAIGE Anessa with the 27″ inseam, 22 1/2″ leg opening, 11 1/2″ front rise. Here’s a side-by-side pic, as a reminder.

AG Saige (29) // PAIGE Anessa (29)
They have a similar silhouette, but I’m not loving the back pockets on the AG pair. They kind of flatten out the rear view, and the signature AG embroidery seems to cheapen the look of the pricey denim.
They wash is really nice, though, and a lot of ladies will probably prefer the lower rise.

VERDICT: These aren’t really doing anything for me, and I don’t need them, so I sent them back.
Michael Stars Jen Gathered Top in Carmine
at Evereve (S) (also in Black) // AG Saige Wide Leg Crop (29) // Veronica Beard Lada in Espresso (8.5)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21″
- Material: 63% Polyester, 33% Rayon, 4% Spandex Knit
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
- Made in United States
I wanted to love this top; the soft slub knit fabric is so nice. It has just a hint of texture that adds interest, and the gathered neck and the way the sleeves are cut is very flattering, but I don’t love that banded elastic hem. It makes it balloon out in a funny way, no matter where I placed it.
I think that’s partially due to how short-waisted I am. I was shopping in-store with a friend yesterday, and she tried it on, and it looked great on her. The quality is quite lovely, so it’s worth a try if you like the styling.

VERDICT: Sadly, I’ll be returning this one.
Evereve Ever Vintage Mini Skirt
at Evereve (30) // Evereve sweater ?? // beek Sunbeam flip flops in Silver/Beech (8)

I don’t really need another short denim skirt, as I have the KUT from the Kloth Bristol Utility Skirt that I like a lot, but I was drawn to this, and it doesn’t cost anything to try it on! I had to size up to the 30, so it seems to run a tad small, and it is quite short. Otherwise, it has a nice wash and a nice fit. Definitely worth a try, if you like it. (I did not bring it home with me.)
KUT from the Kloth Brea Long Skirt
at Evereve (6) // Michael Stars Amara Stripe Rib Top (S) // beek Sunbeam flip flops (8)

Details:
- Skirt Length: 34 3/4″
- Material: 59% Cotton, 21% Hemp, 20% Ecovero Denim
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Hang To Dry
Long denim skirts like this will be trending big time this fall, and Evereve has quite a few of them at the moment. I’d love to go back and try the Pistola Alice Skirt, but I ran out of time.
I like this one a lot. The light wash is summery and pretty, and it’s lightweight and comfortable. I tried it on with a few tops, and struggled a bit to find the right one, but I think I have some here at home that will work.
Fit Tip: I sized down to the 6, which I sometimes need to do in KUT from the Kloth pants, but not usually their skirts, so keep that in mind. It seems to run big.

Verdict: I did not bring this home with me, but I might end up ordering it.
Michael Stars Amara Stripe Rib Top in White/Black
at Evereve (S) (more colors at Nordstrom) // KUT from the Kloth Brea (6) // beek Sunbeam flip flops (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 20 3/4″
- Material: 41% Polyester, 28% Cotton, 27% Modal, 4% Spandex Rib Knit
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
- Made in the USA
This is a fun top, but it doesn’t fit me anything like it does the model online, so I wonder if I should have sized up. The mock neckline and ruched sides are kind of fun and different, and I like the fine black stripes grounded on white, but I don’t know that it really flatters me. I didn’t buy it.
Sanctuary Diana Surplus Dress in Eucalyptus
at Evereve (S) (also at Nordstrom) // beek Sunbeam flip flops (8)

Details:
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 35″
- Material: 100% Lyocell Tencel
- Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
I was surprised how much I liked this utility-inspired dress with the tie waist; I almost never like how tie waist dresses look on me, but the soft Lyocell fabric has a nice drape, and I love the contrasting buttons and the soft blue hue.

VERDICT: I didn’t bring this one home with me, but I’m having second thoughts about that.
Sneak Peek: Coming Soon at Evereve
I don’t have links or names for these items because I tried them on in-store and I can’t find them online, but I expect they’ll be available soon.
I love this little ribbed sweater. It’s the perfect length, with boxy silhouette, and the knit details around the arms and shoulder add interest, plus they’re quite flattering. I brought this home with me.

And this blue short sleeve sweatshirt is a nice transitional piece, casual but more interesting than a plain t-shirt, with the banded hem and cuffed raglan sleeves. I did not buy this, for some reason it just doesn’t excite me, but now that I’m looking back at it, it could be because I don’t care for how it looks with these jeans. It would probably be really cute with white shorts or jeans.

I have one more top to show you that I did purchase, but I guess I didn’t take any pictures in the store. I realized I was running late for my nail appointment, and I rushed out before I had a chance to try on everything I brought into the dressing room. I’ll try it on after I get ready today and add it to the end of this post.

Thanks for posting. Love the blue Rails sweater, white ribbed sweater too. Don’t care for any of the reds, I think red is best as a pop if color accent, it can be a little too much on a large piece. Glad you left that white striped sleeveless top at store. I was worried for you, looked like it was strangling you.
Haha! That’s exactly how I felt it looked.
Great try on haul. Love these. You put soooo much time and energy into them.
Thank you for answering my Q&A today on comfortable walking/running shoes. I plan to try the Brooks. I figured you are the expert on foot issues. I went to the doctor yesterday and now I have to wear a boot for 5-6 weeks. I have metatarsalgia…..Long for pain and swelling in the joints of the ball of the foot….the metatarsals. Very disappointed as I love to walk and need to for mental and physical health and now I can’t. I can really feel for you now when you had to wear a boot. I’m only on Day 2 and tired of it. lol Need to pick my outfit out for the day to wear to Nordstrom to go with my big ol’ boot. lol Going there today for returns. Have a great day.
Oh no! How did you do that? I will just Try to encourage you that it isn’t as long as it seems when you initially have the injury and you look ahead to five or six weeks out. I felt like I was gonna be in a boot forever, but I look back and it seems like a blip.
I feel for you! I very badly broke my leg in April, and I am on week 15 in a BIG boot with no end in sight. It won’t be fun, but it will be over relatively quickly for you! ❤️
I’m a jackets girl too. I would send back the red sweater. I think they look cheap when sweaters are too thin. It wasn’t flattering either. Is camo coming back? I know leopard is which I am glad.
I feel like camo is kind of around in the background and I keep seeing pieces here and there, but I haven’t heard any buzz about it being a big trend this fall, where is Leopard and animal prints are on all of the trend lists I’m seeing. And they are much more prolific in stores.
PS I learned about buying completer jackets from you. All mine are bought from your links. 🙂 I’m trying to hold back on this post, as I’m like you, I have some, but they keep coming out with cute ones. 🙂 I also can’t wear tie waisted dresses or anything as they just don’t look right. I really don’t understand if I’m short or long waisted. How do you figure it? I just received a really cute linen jumpsuit in the mail I have to return, because of the tie waist with belt loops is wayyyy too high and it throws off the look. I’m 5’3″, so much shorter than you, but the dress you are styling here would look the same on me with the tie waist.
Just look at yourself in the mirror when you’re wearing something very body con – like leggings and A tight tank – and look at where your natural waist Is on your body. Mine is almost as high as my bra strap.
Loved this post Jo-Lynne! I had a little chuckle to myself after reading your comments about the jackets – good to know I’m not the only one making excuses like that! 😉I actually preferred the berry tank to the black so look forward to seeing how you style it. X
Great post per usual! Lots of fun pieces to get excited about!
Always cute stuff at Evereve!
I’m pretty sure I listed to the podcast episode when you were on Everyday Style School with Jen. Did you talk about what your 3 style guidepost words are? If not, what do you think they would be?
Modern, Polished & Understated 🤗
Great post. I loved the rails jacket and pale blue striped jersey. I also loved the red top that was see through, the colour was so stunning against your dark hair
Just looking at jackets on Nordstrom site before sale over.. did you like sage sporty jacket?
I didn’t care for the red looks little to thin.
London yay my favorite place to visit!!
Easy to get around on the train..we stayed in covenant gardens beautiful!
You will love tea time at hotels and the theater!
I can’t wait! Which sage sporty jacket? I can’t remember that one.
Looking forward to your fall trends post since I have been in full Fall mode with the Nordy’s Anniversary Sale. Noticed that most tees and sweaters are crew neck which isn’t my favorite neckline as I feel like the top is choking me. Loved your Waldo comment. I like jackets as well and the crop length works well for me. Bought the Kut from the Kloth Trucker Suede jacket in brown. Looking for ideas on what to wear it with since I haven’t owned brown in a few years.
I giggled about the jackets because as my husband was getting my outfit together for me the other day, I asked for a certain denim jacket. It was then he discovered that I have 5 or 6 denim jackets…😂🙈
Great post!
I just got a knit sweater similar to the ivory ribbed one you showed, and I love it. I never shopped before at Evereve. They do have some quality pieces there. I also love that red will be trending this fall. I have a few nice red tops that I like to wear.
I had to look at the top middle pic in the pinterest image over and over again to figure out it was a skirt and not jeans with the longest rise ever! The graphic design edit put a white background between your legs instead of the back of the dress, so I thought it was a weird pair of jeans! ha ha! As a skirt, it is cute. 🙂
LOL, I know. It is Canva, when it erased the background, it did that and I didn’t know how to fix it. 🤪
Ooookay, I realized how to fix it! I can’t replace the one on Pinterest, but at least it looks better here. 🙂
