The Nordic/Fair Isle trend is hot right now, and wearing white jeans for winter is fresh and fun. I combined both to create this modern fair isle sweater outfit.
I say it all the time, but the key to wearing white jeans for winter is to make sure they look intentional by pairing them with winter colors and/or heavier winter fabrics.
This fair isle sweater is cozy and soft and decidedly winter, and I like how the white in the knit repeats the white from the jeans and pulls the look together.
Unfortunately, I had this entire post written before I realized that it sold out over the weekend. #bloggerfail I decided to go ahead and post for outfit inspiration, and I linked up some other fair isle sweaters at the end of the post.
I went with grey booties, but grey over the knee boots would be cute as well. I wish I’d photographed this look both ways to show you the options, but it didn’t occur to me at the time.
Either way, I like grey shoes with this because it repeats the grey in the sweater, and grey pairs so nicely with white jeans. Mine are sold out, but this pair is similar.
I’ve tried quite a few fair isle sweaters lately, and a lot of them are tight across the shoulders and upper arms due to the stitching, but this one isn’t at all. It’s quite soft and cozy, and very comfortable.
I also like how the turtleneck isn’t super tight. I usually pull mine down in front like you see here. It’s more comfortable to me, plus I have a short neck, so I like to show as much of it as possible so I don’t look like I’m wearing a therapeutic neck brace, ha!
These white jeans are my Paige Verdugo ankle skinnies that I have had for an age, and they’re still going strong. They’re thick and not see-through, and they’re incredibly flattering and comfortable to wear all day. I recommend sizing up one from your normal size. For reference, I’m wearing a size 30, and I usually wear 29 in Paige, and 28 in AG and LOFT.
For less expensive white denim options, I like the LOFT Modern Skinny and the Old Navy Rockstar.
I kept my accessories simple with oversized pearl studs, and somehow I forgot to put on my rings, but I normally wear my wedding rings as well as a fashion ring on my right hand.
This fair isle sweater outfit is so easy to put together or copy with similar wardrobe items, and it’s a fresh and fun way to wear the Nordic/Fair Isle trend this season!

I’m such a fan of fair isle sweaters. They are truly fun to knit, especially when it’s only the yoke you have to do!! My friends bought me some yarn when they were in Iceland, and a pattern for this kind of sweater. It’s been one of my favorite sweaters to date!!
I adore the color combination…it’s not the obvious winter colors, which is so refreshing!! Besides I adore white jeans any time of year!
XOXO

You look absolutely stunning, JoLynne. Such a perfect sweater to wear with white jeans in the winter. I have a similar sweater, and you’ve inspired me to pull out my white jeans.
I love this color for Christmas and after. I also love this Sweater. I’m just blown away how good it looks with white, white. I never in my wildest thought that you could wear white in the winter. As always, you look great in everything you wear. I Love your Blog. Have a Great Day! –Linda
I have a dark blue one that I ordered online arriving tomorrow. I never thought to pair it with white jeans though. I hope the neck is loose enough to pull down like yours. I like that look!
Gorgeous color combination! I like how its still wintery yet not typical red/ green combo.
The turquoise color is very flattering on you.
Beautiful sweater. Too bad it’s sold out. But I didn’t need it. 🙂 love color & neckline. Looks great with white jeans.
I ordered this sweater right for myself for Christmas right after I saw it in your try on session last week. So glad I did! I planned on wearing it with grey jeans but I love it with the white!
WOOHOO! It looks nice with grey too. And also, they have it with black on the LOFT site, and I like it more than I would have thought.
I think this sweater is one of the prettiest that Loft has ever done! I passed on it because I don’t wear turtlenecks. But I’m sure many women will enjoy wearing this lovely sweater.
FYI, right now it looks like it’s available in Extra Small and Medium. It could be that some weekend orders were cancelled or didn’t go through, or there were returns.
WOOHOO!!! Just medium now, but yeah, maybe they’re processing some returns.
I have had my eye on a Fair Isle from Talbots for a while, but never thought to pair it with white jeans. Thanks for the inspo! 🙂 *I am hoping to get it for Christmas! 🙂
Love this outfit… and with the white jeans. I saw a fair Isle sweater at Gap Outlet for $16.99 I think I may go back and see if it’s still there and with the white jeans it would be perfect 😀
Very pretty! Looks great on you.
Does the sweater fit true to size or small/big?
I would say TTS or if anything, a little big. I felt like it was plenty roomy, and I’m wearing a small, which is my usual size for LOFT.
Great pictures! I really like the one of you and Paul. I still plan on wearing my white jeans during the winter months, but haven’t done it yet. Have a fabulous day!
I absolutely love this outfit! That colour looks gorgeous on you! Thanks for the inspiration…..as I head to my closet.
I love this outfit! It looks so cozy and that color is amazing on you! I don’t wear turtlenecks because they make me feel like I’m choking. LOL! And I’m honestly not sure if I can pull off the fair isle thing with my large bust. So I skipped on this sweater when you first posted it but I really think it’s perfect on you. And I’m still going to use the color combo as inspiration for wearing my white jeans this winter. Thanks!
Is anyone else having trouble receiving your daily emails? I didn’t get today’s or yesterdays. Hmm?
Hey Daphne, I looked up your profile, and it says you unsubscribed on 12/15. It sounds like it was a mistake, but that would explain why you didn’t get the last couple emails. 🙂 You can easily resubscribe: http://eepurl.com/cOBLrH
I ordered this sweater and it’s gorgeous! I was going to wear it with some gray velvet-like Loft pants tomorrow but will try it with my white Loft jeans. It would definitely be worth it to keep checking back and try to order it if you can. You won’t be disappointed. It’s beautiful and comfortable.
It will look great with either. Nice that you have options to change it up, even though it’s so memorable.
Love this outfit on you. The color of the sweater is so pretty. I guess I opted out as it really is so memorable and for some reason if I buy something like that, I find I don’t wear it often enough. I’m still having a hard time with wearing white jeans in the Winter but this outfit works great with them. Great blog post.
I really like this sweater on you. It’s longer than the sweaters you normally wear and much more flattering. Jeans and booties look great on you, per usual!
Love this outfit! It’s such a great sweater and it looks so fresh with the white jeans.
