Floral Ruffle Neck Shell Two Ways

Greetings, friends, and welcome back to 22 Days of Summer Fashion! Today I’m partnering with Ann Taylor to style this floral ruffle neck shell two ways.

I absolutely adore this top! It’s such a fresh and pretty floral pattern for summer, and it has the perfect fitted-but-not-tight silhouette.

The v-neckline is flattering but modest, the straps are wide enough to be bra-friendly, and it’s cut nice and high under the arms. Plus, the ruffle detail around the neckline is so feminine and pretty.

This top is 100% linen, so be sure to wash on the delicate cycle and lay flat to dry, but that makes it super lightweight and breathable — perfect for the hottest summer days.

The 24” length is great too, so you can tuck it in or leave it out. It runs true to size; I’m wearing my usual size small.

Now that most of our dining is happening al fresco, I’ve been looking for some dressier shorts.

It’s too hot to wear my go-to white jeans if we’re dining out in the middle of the day, so these linen/rayon sailor shorts are the perfect solution.

The button-front pockets give off a nautical vibe, and they’re dressier than my typical denim or chino shorts. Plus, they’re lightweight and breathable. They’re also fully lined, so there’s no show-through.

These shorts have a 4″ inseam, and they run true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 6.

Unfortunately, sizes have already been depleted, but I’m hoping they restock. I’ll keep an eye out for you!

To keep the outfit comfortable yet classy, I opted for a flat sandal. These sandals have a padded footbed and adjustable ankle strap, and they’re such a fun neutral.

I love how the cork adds texture to the outfit, and the gold detail on the heel is an extra special touch. These are TTS; I have the 8.

This outfit is perfect for dining out, get-togethers with friends, or anytime you want a leveled-up summer look that will keep you cool and comfortable.

I went with a front-tuck to keep my proportions in check, and also to show off the buttons on the shorts; but in the next look, I’ll show this top untucked as well.

For my second look, I swapped out the shorts for these white frayed hem skinny crop jeans.

When I’m going to be outside in the evening or indoors in the A/C, white jeans are generally my go-to choice of bottoms, although you do run the risk of looking like everyone else in your dinner party.

If I’m meeting friends, I usually check to see what they’re wearing. Yes, I am that friend!

The frayed hem on these jeans is right on-trend, and these are the perfect crop length with a 26″ inseam.

I also swapped out my flat sandals for these gold embossed leather block heel sandals.

The croc-embossed leather adds texture and shine to the look, and the 2 1/4″ heel gives you a little extra height while keeping them walkable. Plus, I love the cylindrical shape for added interest.

They also have the square toe that is trending right now.

I accessorized both looks with this straw clutch and a gold embossed cuff bracelet that repeats the texture in the sandals..

A straw bag is a great summer neutral that goes with everything, but unfortunately it just sold out. I’ll keep an eye on it for restocks.

I also wore these pearl and shell drop earrings. I like how they’re understated, but also unique.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get a good close-up of them, but at least you can get a good idea of their size. I was actually was expecting them to be larger, but I like them fine. You can see their up-close details better on the website.

With my dark hair, I like earrings that are light colored and have enough shine to be visible, especially when they’re on a smaller scale, and these are perfect.

I decided to leave the top untucked with this second look, although it would work either way. Because of the 24″ length, I still get that desirable 2:1 ratio, even with the crop jeans.

Also, the gold sandals are low contrast against my skin, so that helps elongate the lower body and make me look longer and leaner. #yesplease

  1. I’ve been looking for white shorts a little longer and dresser.. these I love as I love the side buttons. Unfortunately they come to $98 Canadian for me:( and are sold out in my size:(  Maybe they’ll restock and have a sale. Love the pretty floral with both looks.  Good luck with your appointments today. I’d take the blood work as my choice any day😉

  2. Another sharp looking outfit!  Love the blouse!   The gold sandals really caught my eye as well as the cuff  bracelet!  Sending you a prayer for comfort today, as medical testing can be somewhat uncomfortable…..

  3. I have to say, you have been knocking it out of the ball park with this summer series. These are both cute classy outfits and would work for any occasion. I may have to try these Ann Taylor white jeans because I ordered some from Loft and in my usual size in the curvy fit but they were a little big in the hips. I thought they would work better with the few extra pounds I have but they were a strange fit and I didn’t want to hassle with returning them. Unfortunately, cases of COVID-19 are spiking in Texas again so we’re back to staying close to home so needless to say, I’m not getting to wear many of the spring and summer clothes I ordered.

  4. Love everything you styled. Makes me want both sandles. Your hair looks great too. Perfect length. Hope all goes well with appts.

  5. I really love the shorts! They are just a little dressier than normal, but not too much. Sadly, they’re not available in anything smaller than a size 12.

  6. Good luck with your medical appts today: never fun. Will pray for positive outcome for you. Love your summer series with Cyndi. You both are hitting it out of the ballpark with great looks!

  7. What a pretty top and it looks great both ways that you styled it!  I sure hope the MRI went well today and that your doctor will get the results sooner than later.  I am claustrophobic, but I’ve learned to just keep my eyes closed tight.  Like you, I HATE needles, so any time I need to have bloodwork done, I turn my head the other way.  And if the lab tech will converse with me, that helps.  When Larry has to give himself his monthly B12 shot, if he comes to the room I’m in, I go to another room.  I’ll be up the creek without a paddle if I end up having to give myself B12 injections.  Have a great rest of your day!

    1. Yes, I do turn away, for sure!!! And I scroll my IG feed like a mad woman, haha. I agree, if they chat with you, it helps. The last time I went (not yesterday, the time before that) they had so many vials to draw. She could tell I was getting freaked out and started talking non-stop about something… I don’t even remember what. It definitely helped.

      1. Boy how I feel your anguish!  I think they took 4 or 5 viles from me the last time.  Fortunately, the tech was a talker, almost to the point of needing tape over her mouth, but it was a good distraction.  When Larry has to have the Zometa infusion at the cancer center, we go back to the infusion area for them to draw the blood so he only gets poked once.  You better believe my face is crammed against my tablet or phone or I’m looking out the windows.

  8. That top is so pretty and I like both of the ways you styled it. I hope all goes well with both of your appointments today.

  9. PS. Your hair looks great. Love the length. I know you say you have fine hair but it looks thick. Also good luck with your test. I know health issues are a challenge. I’d take blood test any day. :). Needles don’t scare me at all. Keep us updated how things go.

  10. Jo-Lynne, no one would ever guess you’ve had aches and back pain from looking at your pictures; you look amazing lately! This floral top looks so much more stylish on you than the AT model. If only I needed another floral top. I’ve bought so many clothes in the past three months that I’m not wearing yet (nowhere really to go.) 🙁 Those shorts are really cute too. I’m going to order that cute straw clutch though! It’s a perfect small summer bag for going out when you don’t want to lug around a large purse. (I know that contradicts my previous thought!)

Good luck with your medical tests today. I hate the MRI tube! The first time I had one I completely freaked out / had a panic attack and screamed for the nurse to get me out. It was bad. Now I know I have to take a Xanax before procedures like that. You’re SO lucky you’re not claustrophobic! 😘

    1. Oh shoot! The straw clutch is sold out!
If you have any other links to similar options please post!!

  11. I hope all went well with your appointments today. I’m never able to look when I have bloodwork drawn, and I have it done regularly due to my thyroid surgery.

The outfits are quite pretty today! Your choice of shoes really made them pop.

  12. I’m not sure if I reply on one of your old posts if you see it? I wanted you to know the Sanctuary snakeskin sandals from your 6/19 post arrived today and I love them! Very comfortable. Need a place to wear them…

  13. You’ve been knocking it outside of the park!! I appreciate you putting “one foot in front of the other” these days. I understand what means & hope you know how your “tribe” supports you & just truly enjoys your posts each day. Prayers & blessings to you & yours.
