Greetings and cheers to the weekend! I’m back today with a simple outfit formula that is perfect for so many summer occasions: pair an elevated tee with white jeans and sandals for a polished but effortless summer outfit.
This linen voop tee is from Boden, and I absolutely adore the details and the quality.
I love the “voop” neckline — it’s a cross between a v-neck and a scoop neck, and it’s pretty much universally flattering. However, it’s the pompom trim along the neck and shoulders that make it anything but a basic tee.
For size reference, I have my usual small, and it fits great, but I can’t say I’m not concerned about shrinkage. I think if it is laid flat to dry, it can be reshaped and will be okay, but if at all in doubt, you may want to size up.
Also of note, I love that it has a straight hemline. I feel like the curved hemlines add visual weight to the belly area when left untucked, but they look odd front-tucked. This top is the perfect length for wearing in or out — whichever you prefer.
This top is made of a nice quality linen fabric, and it comes in several fun summery colors. I’d stay away from the white, per the reviews (it sounds like it’s fairly see-through); but the navy, blush, and mustard are all nice options if you don’t care for this ultramarine.
Personally, I love how the this bright shade of teal pairs with white; it’s one of my favorite summertime color combos.
My white Madewell skinnies and wedge platform sandals in a versatile saddle brown leather are summer wardrobe basics I wear over and over with other pieces in my closet.
I love the fit on these jeans, and I’ve been wearing them a ton.
Also, these sandals are currently 30% off at Bloomingdales, and they also come in black and jute — a metallic that is sort of in between silver and gold.
Once again, I carried this little rattan crossbody that I found on Amazon, and I accessorized with a few of my favorite Stella & Dot pieces — everything is linked up below.
I love how simple this look is, and yet the details make it anything but boring. It’s definitely one of my favorite outfit formulas for summer.
Voop Tee // Madewell white skinnies // wedge sandals // rattan crossbody // necklace // bracelet // earrings

That top is so pretty and you look great in that color. Oh how I wish I could use a small bag like that, but that just isn’t going to happen. I haven’t been wearing my white jeans or really any of my jeans thus far this summer due to the tenderness of the skin cancer spot on my shin bone. At least I can wear them year round. Enjoy the graduation party! We are enjoying the much needed rain!
So glad you’re finally getting rain!
I love the look of teal and white together for summer!
Jo-Lynne – this outfit and color tee choice look great on you. Perfect summer look. Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks, Sue. You too!
You may think that you post similar outfits, but even though they may be similar, sometimes one item strikes me and a similar one didn’t. We’re going to a neighbor’s/friend’s yard party tonight, and the weather is beautiful! I am thinking of wearing my white jeans and a summery top (we haven’t had much summer weather, so I am itching to wear some of my summer clothes.) Have a great weekend!
Sounds lovely, have fun!
LOVE this outfit. My daughter actually refers to this look as one of my “uniforms”. But, hey, it works! I don’t need more tees but my finger is aching to hit the “buy” button on the teal top. I prefer straight hems. A question for anyone who bought the white Boden “Hello” shirt. Does it seem to have gotten bigger after washing, or at least “grow” as you wear it? I have the navy one, too, and it doesn’t seem to be doing the same thing. After wearing the white one all day, it almost seems like it’s a size too big.
Yeah, when it works, it works! Why reinvent the wheel? I find it so odd that your Boden shirt is doing that. I’ve worn mine a ton, and I’m pretty sure it’s been washed and laid flat to dry, with no issues. I wonder if it’s defective.
Do you have the front of the top folded under? It looks very nice, but on website the models top is longer. I prefer shorter, straight tops
I love the details on this linen top! You look beautiful in the aqua.
I wish I could wear the Madewell. I got them I’m my last stitch fix and they were so skinny!! No amount of Peloton rides would make me get into them. Any other suggestions? I have The Loft ones which are ok.
I love the blue and white together. When does the Boden sale end?
I got an email that it’s one day only, so I would grab anything you want today.
I love the phrase you used at the beginning of this post: “polished but effortless”. This describes your blog so well and it is one of the many things I have learned from following you. I am such a big fan, hopefully not in a way that makes me seem like a stalker lol
Haha, not at all. 🙂
Great top! Love the pretty teal and the fun details. I too appreciate a straight hem so thanks for calling that out. I just received my Loft order from earlier in the week, and as always your descriptions and fit details are spot on. Have a great weekend!
So glad to hear that. You too!
Love that teal/ turquoise color with white jeans. Its a classic! If ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Trends come and go but these kind of looks are classic. When you look back at photos of yourself 5 – 10 years ago, you aren’t wondering “what was I thinking?!?” with an outfit like this.
Thanks, Yelena. I hope so! 🙂
I agree with everyone, it’s the perfect “outfit”! Don’t think twice about posting similar things. And I grabbed the teal top immediately! Thanks for these great finds. Have a great weekend. ☀️
So glad you snagged it while it’s on sale!
Hi Jo-Lynne! Love this look- so pretty & summery! I want to order one & maybe the Phoebe dress ( for casual day at work) that is listed in your Boden favorites. What size do you order in their dresses usually? Thanks!
I feel their dresses run a little small. I have the 8 in both of their dresses, and they JUST fit. I hope they don’t shrink.
I think the top is so pretty and it’s my signature color. My only concern is the neckline being too low on my petite frame. I’m with you Jo-Lynne on the curved hemline tops. What’s with this trend anyway? It’s so hard to find a straight hem anywhere. It’s not an ideal cut for petites for sure. I think they look best on fairly tall, slender ladies. Curved hemlines are difficult to style and they look mostly sloppy. Hope they bring back mire straight hemlines soon. Have a great weekend!
Great look. I just wore the same color outfit Sunday to church. Love this green with white. Hey…. could you try and find and style t shirt dresses for replacing shorts? Maybe solid colors? I like the idea of throw on and go but not wearing short shorts. Shorts these days just aren’t comfortable to me. Maybe if my legs were in better shape. Eeekkk
I’ve styled a few over the years: https://jolynneshane.com/tag/t-shirt-dress
I dare say it’s much easier to style and show outfits that you like and would wear yourself or incorporate into your wardrobe. I think the dressing room hits and misses are great for what works and what doesn’t or your try on sessions at home. I think what you’re styling covers all the bases… have a great weekend. I do love that turquoise color!! One of my favorites for summer.
Thanks, Karen, that is good to hear!
I love this outfit and the tee is one of my favorite and best colors, so I’ll probably be ordering that this weekend. I ordered the cross body purse when you showed it previously and I have a question – this purse has a very strong, unpleasant odor – how did you get rid of that odor?
I really want to use this purse but if I can’t stand the smell it will be going back. Thanks!
Oooh, that’s too bad. honestly I haven’t noticed any odor. I just went and took a look (or a sniff, haha!) and it does have a slight odor, but I really have to get right down on top of it and sniff to notice it. Maybe they’re not all that bad?
