Hoop-Dee-Doo Review

Tonight we said good-bye to Disney in style — my mom treated our family to tickets to the Hoop-De-Doo Review, a Disney tradition for many, but my first time ever attending the event.

We took a ferry boat over to the Ft. Wilderness campground.

I think it’s safe to say we enjoyed the show.

It was definitely all it’s cracked up to be; I highly recommend it.  And best of all?  Not a Disney character in sight.

Afterward, we decided to check out the Wilderness Lodge nearby.  I’ve heard it is one of the best themed resorts, and that at Christmastime in the 7-story lobby, there is a gargantuan Christmas tree that takes your breath away.  They weren’t kidding.  I wanted to take a picture, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to capture the magnificence of this tree.  And it was such a cozy atmosphere with warm wood beams and the huge stone fireplace.

As much as I’ve enjoyed the convenience of the Contemporary, I would LOVE to stay at Ft. Wilderness for some future Christmas.  We walked around and gawked for a bit before hopping a bus back to our home resort.

Earlier today we bid the Magic Kingdom one final adieu.

We wanted to top off the night (and the trip) by watching the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas fireworks extravaganza one last time from the observation deck atop our hotel, but I’m not sure I’m going to make it.  That plush bed is looking awfully inviting right now.

Tomorrow, 6 princesses, 8 parades, 15874 potty trips, and 10 pounds later, we head back home to Philly.  Home Sweet Home!  I can’t WAIT.

  1. I’m so glad you had fun! Just knowing you were only an hour and 20 minutes away from me warms my heart. LOL. Too bad you didn’t go to Epcot you could have met my brother the chef at Norway. He also makes the giant gingerbread house in the Americas part of Epcot.
We love Ft. Wilderness, my brother gets half off there so we were able to stay there once and it was great fun. If you ever eat there, the waitresses are usually pretty funny. At least ours was. Okay when did this become about me and not you? LOL. Sorry about that.
Loved your pictures and your family is gorgeous!
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Wilderness Lodge is by far my favorite resort there. We stayed there for our honeymoon and several times since. I love the restaurants there especially Artist Point. If you go again and stay there, you have to eat there. It is magnificent and the views are so pretty, too!

Glad it was a good trip and you aren’t too worn out. I hope you post more pics after you get home.

  3. Wildnerness Lodge is also my favorite. I would stay there everytime (if my pocket book would allow). Artisin Point is one of the best resturants at WDW. We always make it a point to eat there. Glad you had fun…you guys look great!

  4. Ah Disney World, now that takes me back to 1990; 19 years old and with a load of mates from the Navy. It rained all day and I wound up getting chapped and sore in a place that was hellishly embarrassing to explain at the 1st Aid point. The rest of the evening was spent walking very slowly and completely failing to impress a couple of American girls… great days!

Glad your visit has been so much better and that you have managed to do what seems so impossible in my world – holiday with your family and return still talking to all of them.
