Hello and cheers to Friday! I wanted to do a “holiday style week” after Thanksgiving and feature a new holiday look every day of the week, but things are already selling out, so I’m jumping the gun and posting this velvet jeans outfit today.
This outfit answers the burning question: What do you wear when the party invitation says “holiday casual”? (You wouldn’t believe how many times people ask me that. Haha!)
First of all, how adorable is this lacy clip dot sleeve blouse from LOFT? I think the sleeve detail is so gorgeous.
Unfortunately, it is the piece that caused me to post this outfit today… because it already sold out in most sizes. Womp… womp…
I know, it’s so unfair. But there is no shortage of pretty black tops out there right now, so I rounded up some of my favorites in the shopping widget at the end of this post.
Meanwhile, let’s discuss the rest of the outfit.
Because this blouse has a high neckline and a plain front, I wore this layered station necklace.
My earrings are old, but any blingy bauble will work, or smaller studs would look fine too since the necklace provides a focal point, and there’s a lot going on in the blouse.
These velvet jeans came in a Trunk Club, and I’m obsessed. I love this deep currant color, and they’re the Paige Verdugo style that I like so much. I was super bummed to see them almost sold out at Nordstrom, but then I found them at Revolve.
Revolve has free shipping and free returns, and if they’re new to you, you can get a 10% off coupon code for signing up to get their emails.
I realize these pants are pricey — especially for something you may not wear a ton, so I was happy to find a similar pair at Old Navy for a fraction of the price.
I often go for my black suede pumps with holiday outfits, but I decided to pull out these suede sandals for this look since I have the perfect pedicure for this outfit. It’s CND Dark Lava, and I love it for holiday.
I wore these shoes several times during the summer, and the black suede works well for holiday looks as well. They’re similar to the popular Sam Edelman Yaro sandals, but with a lower heel and the pretty scalloped strap.
Finally, I carried this metallic crackled leather clutch. This bag comes in so handy for date nights and events. The light champagne color goes equally well with gold or silver, and it’s just a nice basic piece that’s perfect for when you want a bag with a touch of glam that isn’t too formal.

Love the velvet pants and those shoes are so cute. I prefer the slightly lower heal that you opted for too. I could never walk in the higher ones, ha.
Beautiful outfit! I love every piece and you look gorgeous!
What a fab outfit! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving xx
You look gorgeous, JoLynne! This really is a perfect “dressy casual” holiday party type of outfit. I’m glad you linked your nail color, too. I was getting ready to comment and ask for details until I saw you listed them. 🙂
Is it possible to read the fashion Friday link ups? When I click on them it doesn’t go anywhere.
Well we are getting the snow today. We were suppose to get a rain snow mix but its been all snow since waking up. Its a real mess out there and for some reason the city isn’t prepared. Why is that??? any way its suppose to change to rain and go up to 8 degrees Celsius so we shall see. Love this outfit its giving me some ideas I may use for new years as we usually attend a house party. I did buy a black blouse with sleeves very similar to the one you’ve styled and its got a high low ruffle hem. Too bad the one you styled is only left in XXL or I would be tempted. The Loft is running 50% off( card member and 40% off if your not) for an early black Friday sale, we are seeing lots of those today where I am in Canada. Is your black Friday today or next week?
Have a great weekend.
Ours is next weekend, but that’s good to know! I didn’t even notice the Loft sale today. 😊
It’s worth a try!
I love my pair of velvet jeans, and I try to wear them even for casual days. Heck, I figure I have them, so why not wear them.
I will admit that my toes don’t see the light of day from now until April…ha ha!! I’m sure I’d be wearing ankle boots…with socks…LOL
XOXO

I love those pants!
Well that’s too bad about the blouse selling out in most sizes, but understandable. Love the color of the velvet pants and mixed with the navy. Have a great weekend! XO
Love the pants! Trying to think of a way I could justify these…………………:)
This outfit is so so pretty and you look awesome in it!!! I’ll have to check out the ON velvet pants.
Love those velvet jeans!
You look fabulous in this! Love it!
So pretty. Looks great on you. Great idea of holiday casual. I thought the blouse was navy, until you said black in your post. I’m jealous about all the snow you got. Your friend, overnight adventure sounded fun. I’m sure she was happy to have your guest bedroom. 🙂
those pants to NOT photograph well! But a lovely color
You absolutely nailed holiday casual with this outfit. Everything about it is gorgeous. Obviously the pants and top, but the accessories really set the outfit off. I hope you get to really wear this in real life and really enjoy it. Perfection!
Those pants are GORGEOUS. I love this whole look, perfect for Holiday parties!
Love the velvet jeans, such a pretty color!

I’m loving those pants! They really kick the outfit up a notch!! And, the top is sweet, too. It really says Holiday party!
You look fabulous Jo-Lynne! Both pieces are so pretty and classic. I hope the snow does melt so that y’all can have a weekend with an easier commute.
You know you’ve got a great outfit when it’s sold out already! Love the lace and velvet for the holidays—so festive!

You’ve picked a fabulous celebration outfit – no wonder it’s selling out. Frustrating for us bloggers but it shows how popular your choice is. Love each piece, but especially the trousers which are so different xx Maria

That top would look gorgeous with any pants. It’s a keeper.
This is a fabulous dressy holiday outfit! I love the deep color of these velvet jeans.
When we discussed them on your Live, I would consider this pair a holiday pair for sure. My grey and black velvet jeans are more of a brushed velvet, not the crushed which has a dressy look.
