May Favorites 2022

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve // thirteen // fourteen // fifteen

Good Monday morning! Today I’ve rounded up my May Favorites. These are some new finds and old favorites I’m particularly loving right now.

one (full outfit details HERE) // This dress is a bit of an investment, but I have a similar one by the same designer that is going on its fourth season. I wear it often during the spring and summer, and it still looks like new.

I recommend sizing down in this dress; I’m wearing the XS. My denim jacket is old, but I love the sandals I’m wearing here too, and they’re true to size.

two // I’ve been looking for soft cup bras since my breast reduction surgery (I’m not allowed to wear underwires yet) and this one is very comfortable and gives a nice shape.

I would recommend this for small to average sized bra sizes; it would NOT have worked for me prior to my surgery. I have the medium, for reference.

three // I’ve been using this mineral powder foundation off and on for years, usually on the days when I want a more natural look, although it’s buildable so it can provide medium to full coverage. I like the Latte color for summertime.

four // I recently picked up these Spanx shaping shorts for wearing under more form-fitting dresses. They have really good tummy control, and I also like how they shape the rear and smooth out the old saddle bags. They also have a high-waist style that I’d like to try.

five (full outfit details HERE) // These shorts are really good for those who like a 5″ inseam, and they’re currently on sale at Nordstrom! They run true to size; I am wearing the 28 here, but I recently ordered the 29 because I’m feeling kind of puffy these days and I could use the extra wiggle room.

six (full outfit details HERE) // I’ve been living in my Vuori favorites since my surgery, and the Performance Joggers are on regular rotation. I have them in Black, Shade Heather, and Terracotta Heather. They also come in long lengths!

I particularly love the Terracotta Heather for spring; they pair perfectly with grey and white tops, and I can throw a denim jacket on top when I want to level up the look a bit. These are true to size, or size up if in between; I like the medium for a more relaxed fit.

seven // I ordered this belt from Evereve, and it’s such a nice versatile shade — something in between tan and taupe. I wear the S/M, for reference.

eight // This is my favorite summer sunscreen. It sprays on evenly, and it smells wonderful.

nine // Since my favorite denim jacket sold out, so I wanted to find one I can link for you all when I wear it so I ordered this KUT from the Kloth Helena to try.

I have the Jacqueline, and I like it with casual looks, but it’s pretty boxy. I wanted one with more structure for wearing with dresses, and the Helena has the perfect fit. It also has a little more spandex for extra comfort.

ten (full outfit details HERE) // I’m a longtime fan of the HOBO brand glazed leather bags, and this adjustable crossbody is perfect for sightseeing, sports and music events, and theme parks.

It has tons of pockets for organization, plus it’s lightweight and durable. It comes in taupe and black, and you can see more pictures of the inside organization at Hobobags.com. (See more of the outfit at

eleven // I’ve had this t-shirt for two or three years now, and it still looks great. I like the rolled edges and the shape of the v-neck, and it’s a really nice weight — not too thin but not too thick either. I have the small, for reference.

I also love the Paige cargo joggers I’m wearing in that picture, and the Clare V. Simple Tote is 50% off at Nordstrom Rack.

twelve (full outfit details HERE) // I should have included this jacket in my May Favorites as well, but this picture is about the jeans. I love this slim straight style for casual everyday looks. They have a 27 1/2″ inseam with a 13″ leg opening and a 10 1/2″ front rise.

They’re spendy, but I’ve tried so many, and none have the fit and feel of these. The denim is so soft and comfortable, but it doesn’t bag out. (The fabric is 93% cotton, 5% polyester, 2% elastane.)

thirteen (also at Dillard’s & Nordstrom) // These are selling out but if you can find a pair, they are so very comfortable, and I love this turquoise for a change. The come in neutral colors as well, and they’re true to size; I have the 8, for reference.

fourteen // Caroline and I both love this No Makeup Eyeshadow by Perricone MD. It gives your eyelids the perfect natural finish for those days you want a barely there makeup look.

fifteen // Finally, these sandals are so good I have them in Light Natural and Black. I love the studded details, and the smooth sole is super comfy. They’re true to size, or size up if in between.

And that’s it for today!

  1. There are some really good finds here, JoLynne. I love and respect how you are consistently true to yourself and bring us good quality ideas that are current but not too trendy. I, too, love the No Makeup Eyeshadow. It’s a good primer also. So glad you are feeling better each day.

  2. I ordered the hobo bag with the link you provided the other day and received the bag Friday; had gotten the Cassie bag from Amazon and just wanted to compare before I use it. Been searching for a leather bag I would use as my everyday bag, might just keep this one and return the Cassie as I like that the strap can be adjusted shorter as I am 5’2.5″; love them both but the leather on this one is really so supple so this one may be the keeper.
As always thanks for your great posts! Caroline’s curls look really pretty!

  3. I really enjoy your posts so much. I need some help please. I know this will sound crazy but I need a new purse. I only get a new one every 10 years or so. When I find one I like I carry it year round and needless to say I use it forever. I like shoulder or crossbody bags and have discovered pad I like a zipper closure for easy access. I have looked and looked. I either think they look too fancy for everyday use or too small or too large.. LDK I just need some suggestions please.

  4. I liked the belt that was labeled number 7, but the links and numbers don’t seem to match and I did not see where the belt is linked at all. Can you tell me where I could purchase this please? Thank you!

  5. Love the tote bag you featured, but with the things I carry in a tote and the way I throw things around when using a tote, I cannot justify spending $250 for one. Can you suggest a more cost-effective version?

  6. Love all you posted. I just ordered the Joe denim shorts to try in 2 sizes. I didn’t have luck with the boyfriend denim shorts. They just are too low waisted and bag out. I ordered 3 different sizes and non seemed to work right for me. I’m hoping these will. I think I’ve been wearing too long a shorts because of not liking my legs but decided I think I need to try more the 5″ and not 6″-7″. The difference might help as long as the Joe shorts are not too tight on the thigh. I love the Vuori Performance jogger. I have the Terracotta color, per your recommendation and love them and I’m going to order the black now. 🙂 I know I’ll get lots of use out of the black. The blue color is so pretty too.

  7. I really like the Born sandals and have checked several places online, and none of them have the aqua. And I was amazed to see the various prices of them. I don’t need the yellow or natural colors, so I guess I’m not meant to add them to my closet. I find underwire bras to be very uncomfortable and have for years. Have a great day!

  8. How low do the spanx shaping shorts come over your thighs and how high across your mid-section? I have a pair that are a few years old but they come all of the way up to my bra and practically to my knees so I find that I wear them less and less as they are too hot and too much for some outfits…

    1. On me, they come about halfway down the thigh – it works fine under skirts. The waist is about at the waist, the higher rise one is the kind that comes up to the bra.

  9. Hi, I have a question about the Mother Dazzlers. Do the colors run different size wise? I ordered the white and ended up sending them back, just a tad too small.

  10. Do you have details for the Apple Watch band you are wearing in the picture with the aqua Born slides? Been looking for something like that!
