Greetings, friends! September is here, and with it, lots of new arrivals for fall! I thought I’d do a roundup today with some of the items I’ve been eyeing from our favorite retailers. I’ve ordered a bunch of these to try, and some are already new fall wardrobe favorites.

For this post, I’m featuring styles from Evereve, LOFT, Gap Factory & Nordstrom. If you have any favorite retailers you’d like me to feature in future posts, let me know!

LOFT is running a huge sale right now, with 40% off your purchase + Extra 25% off your $125+ purchase with code FALL. And Gap Factory has up to 70% off fall essentials.

  1. I have a weighted vest and do use some (I use it for awhile, get away from it and then use again, to change my work out routine). I wonder what your trainer says about them and wonder how they’d incorporate it into a work out?

    1. I will wear it walking, not at my workouts. I’ll ask her what she thinks. I have a feeling she will say it’s not a bad good idea for making my walks more of a workout, but not necessary if I am integrating sprints into my daily walks. She is all about consistent moment + short bursts of high intensity activity for women my age.

  2. I’m not feeling any of it. It seems I only like Loft in the spring summer. The 60’s want those ultra flare jeans back. Who would want to look bow legged? I’m glad I like the clothes in my closet. Some of the retailers I like you don’t seem to like JCrew factory and Quince. I don’t expect you to show clothes that aren’t you.

  3. I’ve ordered the 6lb vest but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m trying to get back in walking shape after mostly not this hot summer. I’ll keep you posted!

  4. Thanks, Jo-Lynne. Shopping for fall is so fun! I am always excited when the weather starts turning crisp again. I would like to purchase one of the dark wash Mother Weekender jeans – are you leaning more towards raw or finished hems for this season? Also, what color boot/bootie would you wear with the dark wash? Is there a particular sneaker catching your eye to pair with them? Jean and shoe pairing is not my strength, lol. Thanks!

  5. I bought a weighted vest (since Cyndi and Lisa recommended them.) I have been wearing it while I do my morning dog walk. It doesn’t bother me, and I hope I am getting the benefits. It has to ramp up cardio, right?! I am dealing with some hip issues (just found out I have arthritis in one hip) and back (on the other side from this which we assume is my body compensating trying to avoid the pain.) I have been very depressed thinking about this, as I feel my body is getting old (I am 70), and I don’t want to have to reduce my daily exercise routine. We shall see as I keep working with PT.
I still haven’t even thought of fall clothes here in North Carolina. I guess soon I will have to, at least, take down the bins from the shelf, and see what I have. I have to keep myself from buying heavy clothes and boots (still have to remind myself that I don’t need those in this climate.) I have bought a few jackets (third pieces I think they call them), and I look forward to wearing them. I don’t have a lot of occasions to wear them for my life style, but I couldn’t resist two that you styled and I bought. I have to be more intentional when I dress (and get out of workout clothes which I wear daily.) You do inspire me. I mostly shop (always online) at Loft, Gap Factory, and sometimes Nordstrom (sales).

    1. I highly recommend sticking with PT or someone who can help you stay fit in a healthy way. Even at 50, I notice myself stiffening up a lot more quickly and easily than in the past. I believe that staying active and getting ahead of nagging injuries before they become big problems is key.

  6. So many great pieces here. Look forward to seeing what you,ve ordered and how you style them.
That faux suede KUT jacket is gorgeous in the cream color! I own it in the Almond/brownish color but have been eyeing the cream. What to do🤔. Have a great day and thanks for the round up!

  7. I have a weighted vest that I purchased about 2 months ago and love it. It weighs 8 lbs and the weight is distributed evenly. I wear it to walk some of local trails for exercise but I also use it because I have osteopenia and it is supposed to help with that. I’m very happy with it and have met lots of women on the trail that say they have one and love it. As far as the fall clothes are concerned, my colors are in the autumn palette and I absolutely love all the new stuff that is coming out.

  8. Since you asked, I love Nordstrom, but I also would love to see your picks from Jcrew! Each store or brand uses their own fit models I think? Jcrew and Jcrew factory clothes fit me much better than Ann Taylor and Loft or Banana Republic in the same sizes.

    1. Yeah, I used to do more at J.Crew but lately I haven’t found much. I do look there. I’m the opposite of you, their fit models don’t seem to be as aligned with my body type as some of the other stores I feature more frequently. But the quality is good.

  9. I too am trying to fit in more walking, since I can now, out of the boot I was in for 2 weeks and not walking a week before that. I am trying to not mess up the progress on my foot. I too shop the same stores you are featuring and sometimes find something at GAP and I never shop Talbots, but found a cute, comfortable pair of cut off denim shorts like the favorite ones you wear, but I got them for a great sale price. I had seen Kay Harms online wearing them and they looked so cute. I never have followed her before, but clicked on her post on pin interest one time and she has the cutest accent, such a sweet lady and dresses cute. Enjoy your day. We are going to be in the 90’s or higher the next couple days. I’m ready for real Fall weather. I’m ready to put my shorts away.

  10. PS First time I heard of weighted vest was when Cyndi S. got one. What are they suppose to do and I’m assuming with my ball of my foot pain problem, it would not be good to add extra weight. Are they for more cardio, or for bone density help?

    1. They’re just supposed to increase the intensity of your workouts, and help build strength and endurance. Since I walk more now than run, I think they could help my walks be more beneficial, especially when walking the dog and I’m not going as fast as I’d like.

  11. What about Banana Republic? Sadly my local store closed, but I always used to love their clothes. Of course I love Evereve, Nordstrom and sometimes Anthropologie (feel they have lost touch the last few years).

    1. Yeah, I used to do really well there, but I haven’t found much in recent years. I also find their photos really difficult to see what the items really look like. But I will try to keep them in my rotation when I’m looking for new pieces. I think they have good quality.

  12. You shared some very nice pieces. Just because they don’t fit my lifestyle, doesn’t mean that I don’t like them. I do most of my online shopping at Nordstrom, Old Navy, Kohl’s, Amazon, and Belk. If I am going to give a new trend a try, I will look for it at a low price point. Enjoy the fall like weather!

  13. I’m loving flare jeans and hope they stay around for a long time. I like shopping at Evereve and Gap as the staff are both so sweet to me. Maybe they are just trying to sell stuff but still I appreciate the kindness.

  14. Regarding weighted vests: walking with a weighted vest can be an excellent addition to your workout routine. Be sure to start light and work your way up. Make sure you purchase a snug, well fitting vest. A lot of injuries result from jumping onto this bandwagon without precaution. I speak from experience. I’m still nursing a hip injury as a result of starting too heavy with a run-of-the-mill Amazon vest.
