New-In at Nordstrom: January 2026

I’m currently huddled on the couch under a faux fur blanket, dreaming of sunshine and warmer temps, while my newsfeed is full of talk about the massive winter storm headed our way this weekend. I’m supposed to be going to Florida (still undecided), so I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole checking out the new arrivals at Nordstrom.

There are so many good transitional pieces right now—things that would be perfect to pack for Florida (if I go!) or, fingers crossed, start wearing here in Philly in a few weeks. And of course, it’s always fun to see where the trends are headed as we inch closer to spring.

I’m definitely ordering the exaggerated cropped trench coat; it feels like such a fresh update on a classic. There’s also a new wash in the MOTHER Lil Kick It that I have my eye on, and it’s 30% off right now!

I found a nice lower-priced alternative to my green Vince cable sweater, and I’m also really loving the looks of this pointelle ruffle-edge cardigan. I like the black because it balances out the sweetness of the feminine details, but it also comes in a pretty oatmeal shade if you want something softer.

And can we talk about the Mary Janes with the contrasting strap? So fun. I also noticed a pull-on stretch ponte kick flare pant, which is having a moment right now. It’s one of those pieces that would work just as well for travel days as it would for workwear or leveling up everyday looks.

Finally, two of my favorite sandals from last spring and summer are back—the Dolce Vita Mylee Heels and the Veronica Beard Via Slides—so I included those in the roundup below. If you had your eye on either of them last year but didn’t take the plunge, I’d grab them sooner rather than later. Both were really popular styles and tended to sell out.

  1. Your timing is perfect! Making the hour’s drive this morning to my nearest Nordstrom to do a little shopping for an upcoming trip to France in late April/early May. I’m trying to find a short trench so I’ll definitely be looking at the two options you have in the post. Right before bed last night I pulled up your post on what you wore to England last year for inspiration, and I think I’ll pop into J. Crew and look at the cashmere sweater that was in that post and also look at the cashmere patch pocket cardigan that made your “best buys” of the year list. Your travel posts this past year have been so helpful! Stay warm if you stay home, and stay safe if you head to Florida.

  2. The Mother Lil Kick It’s are on sale! I took your denim advice and ordered more than one size. Lots of great items here!

    1. Melissa! I saw that too! Even with 30% off it’s still over $200, but I wanted to try them! I have a Nordstrom’s close, so it’s an easy return if the size isn’t perfect!!!

      1. I also ordered these last week in which is which and the fabric they’re made from is disappointing! They are much different than the other washes. I’ve received a few other washes and the fabric is much better, softer, holds shape well and has a much better feel. (Troublemaker is my favorite of all the ones I’ve tried) On sale is always great, for me, in this situation it was a compromise and worth the extra to get a denim I’d be excited to wear.

  3. I was at Nordstrom yesterday with a friend and between the two of us we tried on many of your picks here! I bought several shoes (those contrasting strap Mary Janes are cute!) We saw lots of new styles and color-ways of fashion sneakers too. I bought a new pair of DV sneaks. Seeing a lot of elbow sleeve cardigans right now. That one you’ve linked would be nice to have in black so I might order to try.

  4. Yes sounds like your area and more are going to get hit hard with Winter snow storm. I’m over here in NW Oregon with sunny and cold wishing for at least one good snow fall this year which we don’t get very often. Sometimes in Feb. or March when I don’t want it. We have had wayyyy less rain which has been nice. But our Mountains are really needing the snow or it’s going to be a long fire season to come and not enough water. It’s been a bad ski season on the mountains. Forgot when you had your Florida trip planned. As for the short trench. I remember you having one just like it last Spring.

  5. I’m not liking the cropped trenches at all. They look sloppy to me. Hopefully there’s an alternative

  6. My relaxed straight riveted jeans from Loft came today. Ugh, I hate them. They are not a good jean if you are 5’3″ to 5’4″–unless you want to look shorter and and also stubby–even if you aren’t. These can’t be returned fast enough–unfortunately, we will be in the deep freeze starting tomorrow with -40 windchills. I think I’ve learned now that I do not look good in relaxed straight jeans. I need regular straight, high waist. I’m not impressed with Lofts new rivet jeans–they seem cheap and really no difference then what they had before–I think. Back to looking at Everlane’s and Madewell perfect vintage.
