Happy Wednesday! It’s that time again. Every other week, I share a roundup of what I actually wore over the past couple of weeks. Fair warning: I’ve been fully in hibernation mode lately. It’s been cold here in Philly, with several snow events mixed in.
Not that I’m complaining. I love snow, especially in January where it belongs. But that does mean my outfits have been a little less than inspiring as of late. That said, this is about real life and what I’m wearing day to day, not just the highlight reel. So let’s get into it.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29–30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes, so fit notes matter. Gifted items are marked c/o; everything else was purchased by me.
What I Actually Wore Over the Past Two Weeks
We’re starting off with a simple sweater hoodie, jeans, and sneakers for a day mostly working from home.

I threw my long brown coat on top when it was time to take my daughter to get her wisdom teeth out. I like how it coordinates with the sneakers, and it helped me feel more pulled together on what was very clearly a ponytail day.

Another simple jeans-and-sweater combo for a work-from-home day and a dentist appointment (this time, mine).

I wore my Birkenstock clogs and Barbour winter jacket to keep things casual and cozy.

The next day was mostly errands with my daughter as we worked on getting her ready to move into her new apartment. Otherwise, I was at home. I pulled out this cozy henley sweatshirt and paired it with washed black jeans, then added my other adidas Spezial sneakers. This pair is a light grey suede with black leather accents, which feels a little softer and more neutral than the brown pair.

I snapped a quick picture in my office before heading out for a short overnight trip to Penn State to help my daughter get settled into her new place. With rain and possible snow in the forecast, I stuck with my most comfortable weather-proof boots and the same black jeans.
This time, I topped them off with a classic cable-knit sweater layered over a white tee and wore my Barbour again.

I only packed an overnight bag since I just needed pajamas, a fresh sweater to change into the next day, and my most essential toiletries. The AWAY Overnight Bag was the perfect solution for a quick one-night trip.
To drive back home the following day, I wore the same thing—just with a different sweater.

Back at home, I wore this outfit again for a casual work-from-home Monday. (And yes, I pulled on those same black jeans for the fourth day in a row—they definitely went straight to the laundry basket after that.)
This henley sweatshirt is on sale, by the way. The relaxed fit, snap-front neckline, and adjustable hem make it easy to wear and surprisingly flattering, and it’s super soft and cozy on the inside. It’s an easy swap for a sweater when you want something casual and comfortable with jeans and sneakers.

I was getting tired of feeling so casual, so I decided to level things up a bit the next day for an eye appointment and a trip to the dealer to pick up my car and return the loaner (it was in for service). Such an exciting life I lead! 😒 I pulled out this bold magenta sweater and paired it with dark-wash jeans and black boots.

I always struggle with what color boots to wear with darker-wash jeans. I generally prefer shades of brown to black—black can feel more like a default than a deliberate choice. But with the magenta sweater, black made more sense. I feel like the look really came together once I added my long black wool coat and a black bag.

I had a photo shoot the next morning and wore this outfit to the nail salon afterward to refresh my manicure. I love the mix of light neutrals, and I was excited to break out my new camel suede pointed-toe flats. I bought them with transition season in mind, but they work just as well in winter on milder days.

After being out and about the day before, I was very happy to be back at home the next day. I pulled on one of my favorite cardigans with my new LOFT Rivete relaxed straight-leg jeans to work from home.

Last Friday, I pulled on this outfit after my Pilates class for a couple of Zoom calls. The red turtleneck is a new one from the NAADAM end-of-season sale. I love the boxy fit, and it’s super soft (and still on sale!). I added the whimsical heart pendant on a cord for a focal point and to try something a little fun and different. I don’t usually like heart jewelry (or hearts on anything, for that matter) but for some reason, I really like this piece. It’s a nice quality, too.

I did a bunch of try-ons that afternoon, and afterward I threw on my trusty J.Crew patch pocket cardigan with a more comfortable, stretchy pair of jeans. I think these loafer mules look better with slim straight ankle jeans than the clunkier clogs I usually reach for—not that it really mattered since I was just at home, but I still like to like my outfits, even if no one else sees me.

We went to a play that night, and it was cold and dark, so I really just wanted to be cozy. I kept the sweater and switched into black jeans and black boots. I topped it all off with my black wool coat for an easy monochromatic look. I didn’t get a picture because it was too dark—and honestly, it didn’t feel very photo-worthy… not that that’s stopped me before. Ha!
Saturday morning, we woke up to a few inches of snow outside. I decided to pull on some of the new pieces I tried on the day before. These Citizens Miro barrel jeans surprised me in the best way. I actually really like the fit, even though I had pretty much given up on this style for me. It has more of a bowed silhouette than a full-on barrel.
And I finally caved and ordered the Quince Cashmere Oversized Crewneck in Charcoal. I wear the brown one so much, I thought I would enjoy having a different color. And finally, these Dolce Vita shearling lined slip-on sneakers are so comfortable, they feel almost like wearing slippers—perfect for cozy days at home.

On Sunday afternoon, I pulled on another new Quince sweater with my MOTHER Kick It jeans to head to a friend’s house for a visit. I added the Aquatalia boots since they’re weather-proof, and I like how the Champagne color complements the camel sweater. It’s a very warm shade of camel, so not the best color for me right near my face, but I love the styling on this one. It’s also a really nice, thick, luxurious knit.

Then yesterday, I had to go back to the dentist for a filling. Truly, the excitement never ends over here! It was cold and snowy, so I threw on my coziest weather-proof winter boots with jeans and a black sweater. These suede lug-sole boots are visually kind of heavy and can weigh an outfit down, so I like to pair them with darker tops to balance things out. The more rigid denim on these jeans helps with that, too.

And that’s a wrap! I realize it’s pretty much the same outfit formula in different iterations, but this time of year, I’m perfectly happy living in cozy sweaters, jeans, and boots. Experimenting with different denim styles and color combinations is what keeps me from getting totally bored with it.

You are too funny. Even though you are doing things that are not fun, you do a great job elevating everyday life. You also look like you are reverse aging. All your picks are beautiful and you are glowing.
Agreed. Jolynne, not sure if its just the pony tail but you are glowing.
It is this highlighter! Seriously.
Looks like we are going to need another what am wearing makeup post soon!
Well, no matter what your day has in store for you, you always look great. Nothing boring about it!
You are sweet, thank you.
Hello.
I have the Quince cashmere sweater from last year. I have a large with I like for layering. I got the same sweater as a gift in a medium. I was planning on exchanging it for a large but am wondering about the oversized cashmere? If I do order it should I get a large as well. Trying to minimize returns! Thanks so much. Lynn
I take a small in the oversize one and a medium in their regular $50 cashmere crewneck.
I loved your look and the whole outfit with the barrel jeans, charcoal Quince sweater (fabulous) and shoes!!! And I just love and appreciate YOU and your daily inspirations. You make a positive difference in my life.
Thank you, that means so much to hear!
You’re getting a lot of wear out of the Frame denim! I don’t currently have any in my closet. Those say they’re a fairly high rise at 11.25. But they look doable on you. Do they feel extra high? Are they soft?
You hit the jackpot on the charcoal sweater. Great color on you! I think you lead a more exciting life than me! LOL Keeping it real.
They are very high rise, which I don’t mind, and a bit rigid. I like the look, but they’re a pair I usually end up taking off once I’m home for good.
How do you like the La Canadienne boots? I’ve been eyeing them. Are they comfortable?
I love your every day casual looks. I’m trying to elevate mine. Unfortunately with our 2nd week of fog and inversion plus freezing temps, sweats seem to be my go-to.
These outfits are all awesome and perfect for cold winter days. I also love the ponytail. Not everyone looks great in a high pony, but you certainly do! I also like the heart necklace!!
Thanks for sharing your everyday looks, all great! Appreciate the save option too.
Also, thanks for sharing all the jean info, so helpful!
Re the washed black jeans…how do i find that wash in Frame straight leg jeans?
You just want to look for a faded black wash. Starship is a good one. Or Century.
