Spring Fashion Trends: What’s In and What’s Out for 2026

Happy Monday, friends! The much-anticipated Spring 2026 fashion trends post is finally here. This is always one of the most requested posts of the season — everyone wants to know what’s trending, what’s fading, and what’s actually worth paying attention to.

This post also kicks off Spring Trend Week here on the blog. I’ll be sharing trend-focused posts throughout the week covering the biggest categories — denim, shoes, and more — but today we’re starting with a general overview, highlighting 10 wearable Spring 2026 trends.

I have to say, I’m not seeing any major shakeups this spring. The trend cycle is always on a continuum — certain styles ease in while others gradually fade out. It’s rarely a dramatic line in the sand, although some seasons can definitely feel more disruptive than others.

This season feels more like an evolution. We’re leaning into familiar styles and refining silhouettes we’ve been slowly adjusting to over the past few seasons. Hopefully that makes things feel a little less overwhelming.

10 Wearable 2026 Spring Fashion Trends

As always, a quick trend post disclaimer: not every trend will be for everyone, and that’s completely fine. Personal style should always win. If something doesn’t feel like you, skip it.

That said, I try not to dismiss trends too quickly. Sometimes a silhouette or styling idea feels “off” at first glance, but with a small tweak — a different proportion, fabric, or pairing — it suddenly works. Staying open-minded is one of the best ways to avoid falling into a style rut. And often, you can find subtle interpretations of the more dramatic trends that allow you to stay current without feeling like a slave to fashion. It’s all about figuring out what works for you.

Also, this is by no means an all-inclusive list. There are always more trends circulating each season, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Think of this as a starting point highlighting the shifts that feel both relevant and wearable.

1. Cropped Jackets

Shorter jackets are still the defining silhouette this season. The “outfit completer” pieces I’m seeing right now — denim jackets, trench styles, tweed, and utility jackets — are leaning cropped, boxy, and slightly relaxed. These shorter shapes pair especially well with the mid- and high-rise bottoms we’re all wearing right now, creating a nicely balanced, modern proportion.

I’m also starting to see bubble-hem jackets gain momentum. The softly rounded shape adds volume and structure without feeling oversized or heavy.

2. Pointelle & Pretty Knit Textures

Soft, feminine knit textures are everywhere this spring. Pointelle sweaters, open-stitch knits, and delicate lightweight layers are adding a subtle romantic touch to spring outfits. These pieces feel airy and seasonal without being overly sweet, making them an easy way to soften denim, tailoring, or utility-inspired looks.

3. The Buttoned-Up Cardigan (Still Going Strong)

Cardigans worn buttoned-up aren’t going anywhere this season. I’m seeing both short- and long-sleeve styles, often in finer-gauge knits and pretty pointelle textures. When you combine those elements, it’s an easy way to tap into a two-for-one trend.

Wearing a cardigan this way creates a clean, streamlined look that works beautifully with everything from denim and shorts to tailored trousers. It’s a simple way to look polished without adding extra layers.

4. Tailoring & Relaxed Silhouettes

Tailoring is still going strong this season, but it’s taking on a softer, more relaxed feel. I’m seeing lots of drapey silhouettes and easy, looser fits, especially in linen and lightweight, fluid fabrics. Relaxed trousers and linen pants feel like a fresh alternative to jeans and look polished without trying too hard.

It’s a nice departure from the ultra-casual outfits that have dominated recent seasons and is especially appealing for warmer weather.

5. Slimmer Denim Silhouettes (But Not Skinny)

After several seasons of exaggerated wide legs and oversized fits, it seems like denim silhouettes are starting to slim down a bit. I’m not talking about painted-on skinny jeans, but I’m hearing that slim straights and cigarette jeans are making a comeback, while wide legs are looking a little more streamlined and refined.

These styles feel modern and flattering, offering a nice middle ground between ultra-relaxed fits and the super-skinny silhouettes of years past — and I, for one, couldn’t be happier about it.

6. Modern Midi Skirts

Skirts are still going strong this spring and make a nice alternative to pants and jeans. I’m seeing mostly midi lengths, with silhouettes leaning more streamlined — cleaner lines, sleeker shapes, and simpler fabrics.

Think bias-cut skirts, straight styles, soft draping, and minimalist details. Pleated skirts are still in the mix as well, especially in softer, less structured versions.

7. Asymmetry & Asymmetrical Cuts

I’m seeing lots of asymmetry this season, from one-shoulder tops to uneven hemlines and wrap-style details. These slightly off-balance designs add just enough visual interest to make an outfit feel fresh without being too bold or dramatic.

Even a subtle asymmetrical element can elevate a simple look. It’s an easy way to try something that feels modern and current without stepping too far outside your comfort zone.

8. Snake Print & Alternative Animal Prints

Snake print is making a big comeback this season, along with other animal patterns that offer a fresh alternative to classic leopard. I’m seeing everything from subtle accessories to statement pieces featuring snake, zebra, and abstract animal-inspired designs.

These prints add personality and visual interest, but they often still function as versatile neutrals, making them an easy way to elevate a simple outfit without overwhelming the look.

9. Stripes Are Bigger Than Ever!

Yes, we talk about stripes every spring, but this year they really are everywhere right now — from Breton tees to lightweight sweaters, button-downs, and even pants and dresses.

There’s something about stripes that always feels fresh this time of year. They’re timeless, easy to wear, and a simple way to add pattern without stepping too far outside your comfort zone.

10. Sporty-Polished Elements

Sporty details continue to weave their way into everyday outfits, but in a more refined, polished way. Instead of full-on athleisure looks, I’m seeing subtle nods — stripe accents, sleek sneakers, track-inspired trims, and relaxed silhouettes paired with tailored pieces.

This mix of sporty and polished keeps outfits feeling modern and effortless. It’s also incredibly practical for real life, striking that sweet spot between comfort and looking pulled together.

And that’s a wrap on the Spring 2026 Fashion Trends! I hope this post gives you a little wearable style inspiration as you take inventory of your spring closet and start thinking about ways to refresh your outfits for the season ahead.

Is Anything Actually “Out”?

When I write these trend posts, I often include a list of what’s “out,” but honestly, that whole concept feels a bit dated at this point. Fashion doesn’t really operate in such hard lines anymore. While there are certainly styles that are fading, the shifts tend to be so gradual that nothing feels especially dramatic.

That said, I am noticing some of the more extreme silhouettes softening a bit. Ultra-oversized shapes, heavily distressed denim, and anything that feels overly exaggerated or costume-y seem to be giving way to cleaner, more balanced proportions. So, yay for that.

As always, take what works for you and leave the rest. Personal style should never feel dictated by trends, but I think it’s useful to have a sense of where styles and silhouettes are headed if you want your outfits to feel fresh and current.

  1. I like the asymmetrical lines. Is there a specific bra style or brand that works best? My strapless is underwire and the lines look weird. Plus it’s super uncomfortable to wear with an everyday outfit!

    1. They do make some bras with convertible straps you can configure different ways. But honestly, if it requires a fancy bra, I probably don’t need it. LOL! I like the tops like the Nation LTD red one that you can wear with a regular bra.

  2. I’m really liking track pants. We’ve had an extremely mild winter and my track pants (black & a dark brown pair) are so comfortable. Good for running errands or coffee dates. A bright colored pair might be fun this spring.

  3. I’m loving the feminine touch on the shirts and blouses with the light fabrics. I don’t like too cutesy so this works for me. I ordered a long sleeve blouse that fits this from Quince and can’t wait to wear it.

  4. Yeah for more animal/ snake print. I’m not a fan of asymmetrical stuff though.

What about shoes…… will you do a post on shoes?

  5. All very wearable trends. I love cropped jackets but they don’t look right on me. I’m tall so I think the proportions are off. How would you suggest I work around that?

    1. I would look for jackets that are short-er, but not so short that they disrupt your proportions. Or a cropped pant also helps balance a shorter jacket. Figuring out a length that is idea for you will help make online shopping a lot easier. I always look at length measurements on tops, sweaters, and jackets when ordering online.

  6. Almost every product I clicked on was from Evereve so I guess I should start shopping there! I love the track skirts!!!

  7. Good overview! It does feel like stripes are EVERYWHERE right now! I am looking forward to your next try-on with spring pieces. One of the trends I’m noticing is with shoes – more choices in cute and colorful low profile fashion sneakers, more woven mary jane styles, and cute loafers – both traditional and mule style. Haven’t seen many sandal options yet though …..keeping an eye out for those.
Your observations about denim silhouettes made me think back to last year’s Nordstrom anniversary sale when they put the Mother Roller jeans on sale and so many influencers and shoppers clammored to grab a pair and yet now, just six months later, that style is not feeling as current anymore. Are you reaching for yours right now?

  8. What do you think about the stove pipe jean silhouette? Is that look fading? I finally found a pair that fit me, and I like the relaxed look. Somehow, the shorter length evens out the width. They’re fun. And comfortable. I’m about to turn 64 and feel like I need to start having more fun with my style. Nothing is going to make me look skinny. I was never skinny, so I’m trying to stop allowing that be my ultimate goal.

  9. I love the pointelle and the cardigans, the midi skirts, and a more tailored silhouette. But now that I’ve found my new BFF in trouser jeans, I will not be going to any different kinds of jeans. I do have a few alternative animal prints that I haven’t worn in a while that I can trot out again. As for asymmetry… I didn’t think I’d like it until I tried a one shoulder dress and looked amazing in it. Still not a fan of anything too wild, though. 🙂

    1. As a fellow petite, which tailored jeans? I’ve been on the hunt for some dressier ones.

      Love lots of these styles!

  10. I feel like the stars have finally aligned and set spring fashion up just for me! 🙂 I love all of these styles for the most part and a lot of what I already have should slide seamlessly into place for spring. I’m a bit unsure about the asymmetrical stuff and not a huge fan of animal prints but I can probably find at least one item of each style to weave into my spring wardrobe. Thanks for your hard work and I can’t wait for the rest of the week!

  11. Thank you for giving us an insight to the upcoming Spring season. Of course there are some that I really like, as well as some that don’t suit me.

  12. I can really relate to most of these Spring trends. I still love a buttoned-up cardigan and especially the short sleeved styles. And also the track pants and stripes!!!!! This came at a good time because I am leaving COLD New Jersey for Disney on Thursday and I get to pack summer clothes. Jo-Lynne, I even researched your Disney blog post with Cyndi from Sarasota Springs! That was fun to see again! The advice is still relevant today!
