Hi friends, and happy Monday! Today, I’m sharing the spring vacation capsule wardrobe I put together for my trip to Florida. While I packed a full suitcase of outfits to shoot for blog content, I also wanted to challenge myself to create a separate, more streamlined wardrobe—just the essentials I’d need once the work portion of my trip was done.
Once we wrapped up our shoots and Alison (my fabulous photographer) headed back to Philly, I packed away everything that wasn’t part of my capsule into one of my two suitcases—and I haven’t opened it since! Now that I’ve lived with this wardrobe for a week, I can see ways to condense it even further. But the reality is, you never quite know what you’ll want or need until you’re actually there.
Side note: I swapped out a couple of my personal wardrobe staples that are no longer available for similar styles, so everything I’m sharing here is something you can shop, if you so desire!

Efficient packing is always a work in progress… for me, anyway! I’ve always been an unapologetic over-packer, but the older I get, the more value I find in streamlining this process and only bringing what I actually need. So, here’s the travel capsule I ended up with for a week in Florida.
Keep in mind, it’s been chillier than expected—nighttime temps in the 50s, daytime highs in the low 70s with a breeze—so this is more of a transitional spring wardrobe than a full-on summer vacation capsule. Whether you’re planning a warm-weather getaway or just looking for easy outfit ideas for spring, I hope this gives you some inspiration!
Travel Outfit
This is the outfit I wore on the plane, and I’ll admit—I cheated a little! I originally packed two pairs of blue jeans in my travel capsule, but once I got here, I realized that was overkill and ended up only wearing one. That said, these were perfect for travel, especially since it was freezing when I left Philly.

While Alison was here, I tried to shoot as many looks as I could from the capsule. I don’t have those photos back yet, so I put together some nifty graphics for you instead. There are even more outfit possibilities than what I’m showing here, but this should give you a good idea of just how versatile this capsule is.

Looks like you had a great time and got a lot done while in Florida! I always look forward to how you pull together outfits. I’m definitely ready for Spring! I was also just in Florida, just south of you in the Boca Grande area. It’s such a beautiful area, that I love so well!
Great job. I do not have the capsule wardrobe nailed down. I am an overpacker and when I try to scale down I wish I had more. lol I like shoes and it’s hard to just take a few. Looks like you had the navy and red and white theme and touch of black too to keep everything mix and match. It will be hard for you to go back to Philly after wearing these clothes. We are having rainy cool and cloudy days right now. I just want to put on leggings and a sweatshirt but trying not to. I moved all my darker colors out of my closet and put in all Spring and Summer. Skies are brighter today so we will see. Have a good last day.
Great capules, thank you!
Testing…. First post didn’t post??????
Eager to hear your thoughts on the rag & bone shorts!
Me too!!!
Always love these posts! Quick question… I have the same Away pieces. Do you usually check the bigger carry-on bag? I know that if it’s not fully unzipped that technically it’s a carry on. Thanks!
I bring my Bigger Carry-On, it fits in the overhead on most planes. That said, this time they made everyone gate-check their bags.
Loved your post and looking forward to seeing the pictures of how you put it all together. Question: ALL bags had to be gate checked, or just larger ones? Or just certain boarding groups? Asking because I will be flying back north from Florida next week…
The mid size bag was checked, of course. They had everyone with carry on suitcases gate check. I was in Boarding Group 1 – it didn’t matter. I’m assuming it was due to plane size. The Everywhere Bag was technically my personal bag in this case.
I’m interested in the necklace you’re wearing in the email photo. Is it Anna Beck? I don’t see it linked anywhere. Thanks.
Yes, is!
I hope the flight home will be smooth and uneventful.

Temps will be cooler in Ireland and Switzerland. I would love to get your ideas for how to travel with heavier clothing items and shoes. Thanks!
