Spring Try-Ons: Fresh Layers, Breezy Bottoms & Everyday Essentials

Happy Friday! I have a bunch of new try-ons for you today. This one ended up being very jacket-heavy, plus I found some really good linen pants and other spring-ready bottoms, along with a few easy tops to round things out. If you’re looking to freshen up your wardrobe for the season, there are some great pieces in this mix.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29–30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes, so fit notes matter. Gifted items are marked c/o; everything else was purchased by me.

Fresh Layers: Spring Jackets That Make the Outfit

Lightweight jackets are a big part of my spring wardrobe. They’re the easiest way to pull an outfit together and make even a simple tee-and-jeans look feel complete. Plus, they’re easy to throw on and take off when the weather is unpredictable. I’ve found a bunch of really good ones lately!

Two Palms Linen Raw-Edge Jacket in White

c/o Tommy Bahama and Nordstrom (M) // Sanctuary Split Neck T-Shirt (S) // J.Crew Trouser Jeans (29) // FRANKIE4 sandals (8.5) // Jenny Bird earrings

PRODUCT DETAILS: We’ve fashioned our fabulously smooth linen into a classic jean-jacket silhouette, so you can enjoy the look without the weight. Vertical seaming creates slimming lines, while raw edges add a touch of toughness.

  • Material: 100% linen.
  • Care: Machine wash cold on gentle. Hang to dry.
  • Length: 22″ from shoulder to hem (based on size S).

MY THOUGHTS: This linen jacket is a perennial favorite in our community. It’s styled after a traditional denim trucker jacket, with just a hint of shaping through the waist that’s flattering, but still has a relaxed fit that works really well over tees and lightweight layers. I also love the raw edges—they add a little extra interest.

I’ve had it in black for a few years, and I thought the white would be a nice addition for spring. It is a bit sheer, but I actually think that’s a nice touch—it keeps it feeling light and summery rather than heavy or structured.

Fit note: I sized up to a medium this time, thinking I’d want a little extra wiggle room, but it ended up feeling too oversized. I think the small would be a better fit for me.

VERDICT: A great everyday spring layer with a polished, casual feel. I’m going to exchange for a small.

Quince 100% European Linen Jacket in Flax

at Quince (M) // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // Madewell Zoe (8) // SPLENDID FOOTWEAR Fedora Sandal

PRODUCT DETAILS: A classic cut, but with a fun twist, our European linen jacket is perfect for days you’re looking to shake things up. And since it’s made using an eco-friendly fiber that requires less water, fertilizers and irrigation, you’ll feel great about wearing it too.

  • Materials: 100% European linen
  • Care: Machine wash cold, tumble dry low

MY THOUGHTS: This jacket is very similar to the Tommy Bahama—it’s a linen version of a classic denim trucker jacket, so you get that familiar look in a lighter, more breathable fabric.

It has a really nice fit. I like the length and the slightly boxy silhouette, and in the flax color, it’s not sheer. Like most Quince pieces, it does run a bit small—I’m wearing a medium, and I wouldn’t want to size down. It also comes in several colors, but I thought this soft flax shade would be a really versatile addition for spring.

VERDICT: Definitely holding onto this one. I don’t have any jackets in this color, and I think it will be incredibly versatile—maybe even more so than white, which can sometimes feel a little stark with darker outfits.

Loft Twill Utility Jacket in Washed Olive

c/o LOFT (M) – 40% off // Splendid Josie Tank (L) – 30% off with FAMLOVE // Maeve Colette (30) // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Finished with beautifully brushed metallic buttons, we love the endless utility of this structured woven cotton twill jacket.

  • Materials: 100% Cotton
  • Care: Machine wash

MY THOUGHTS: This jacket is really cute, and I love the washed olive color, but the fabric is quite stiff, which made it feel a little less comfortable than I’d like. I also think I could have sized down for a better fit.

VERDICT: This one went back.

Splendid Lounge Denim Jacket in Indigo

c/o Splendid (M) – 30% off with FAMLOVE // Lila Tee (M) // VERONICA BEARD Leah Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Our Lounge Denim fabric feels like your favorite sweats with the classic look of denim. The drawstring waist adds some shape, with the extra pockets to hold lip gloss, keys, and your phone. You’ll wear this layer everyday.

  • Materials: 100% Tencel™ Lyocell
  • Care: Machine wash cold
  • Made in the USA

MY THOUGHTS: I have this jacket in the Moonstone color, and I like it so much that when Splendid offered to send a few pieces, I chose the Indigo version. I love that it has the look of denim but feels incredibly soft and easy to wear—it’s much more comfortable than a traditional denim jacket.

I was playing around with the sleeves—cuffed vs. long. Sometimes I want the added warmth of full-length sleeves, but I usually cuff them.

Pro tip: Cuffing your sleeves makes the look feel a little more styled, and a 3/4-length sleeve is especially flattering—showing a bit of arm at that point helps break things up and creates a more balanced silhouette.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping this one. It will make a really great travel jacket. Also, it’s 30% off right now with code FAMLOVE.

Scout Soft Utility Jacket in Olive

at EVEREVE (M) // Splendid Josie in fawn/white (M) // The Colette Beachy Linen (30) // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: A go-to lightweight layer that will complete all of your spring looks, the Scout Soft Jacket by EVEREVE features a point collar, front button closures, and oversized utility pocket details.

  • Measurements: Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21″
  • Materials: 58% Linen, 40% Lyocell, 2% Spandex Woven
  • Care: Machine wash cold, tumble dry low

MY THOUGHTS: This one definitely needs a quick steam, but I threw it on to check the fit, and I really love it. The linen blend has a bit of stretch, which makes it much more comfortable and easy to wear than typical linen. The utility details and boxy, cropped fit feel very current.

Fit tip: You may want to size up, if ordering. The medium fits me perfectly.

I also tried the small, and while it felt comfortable, it looked too small and noticeably shorter. That said, the rise of the pants does make a difference—these jeans are mid-rise, while the black pants I’m wearing above are super high-rise. Overall, though, I prefer the fit of the jacket in the medium.

Scout Soft Utility Jacket (S) // Lila Tee (M) // Veronica Beard Leah (30) // Frye Heather (8.5)

VERDICT: Keeping the medium.

EVEREVE Jessa Utility Bomber in Black

c/o EVEREVE (S) // Lila Tee (M) // Paige Anessa 31` W/ Twisted Outseam (30) // Margaux Demi (39)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Perfect for spring layering, this utility-style bomber jacket by EVEREVE features a relaxed, button-front silhouette with an elastic hem, oversized flap pockets, and rolled sleeves with button tabs.

  • Measurements: Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
  • Materials: 77% Rayon, 20% Nylon, 3% Other Fiber Woven
  • Care: Machine wash cold, hang to dry

MY THOUGHTS: Okay, I’m just going to spend the spring in jackets and white t-shirts. This is another standout. Honestly, I put it on and actually jumped for joy. It has such a cool silhouette, and I love the sleeve tabs—they make cuffing look intentional and polished.

Here’s a photo without the sleeves cuffed, so you can see both options.

The gathered detail in the back gives it a really flattering shape, while it hangs straight in the front, and I love the 22″ length—the extra inch really makes a difference (the green linen one above is 21″).

This jacket also comes in brown, and I am tempted, but I love having a black jacket in the spring. It feels a little unexpected, and I always end up wearing it a ton. A brown option could be nice to have, though—it really is the neutral of the season… maybe if it goes on sale.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping this one—it might be my favorite jacket so far this season.

Citizen Cooper Denim Bomber Jacket in Indigo

c/o Modern Citizen (M) // Lila Tee (M) // Veronica Beard Leah (30) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Our modern, tailored twist on the classic bomber jacket — Cooper features statement double pockets at the front and pairs effortlessly with everything from structured trousers to relaxed denim.

  • Materials: 100% cotton
  • Care: Wash on cold; hang or lay flat to dry.

MY THOUGHTS: Modern Citizen is known for elevated basics, and this jacket is a great example of that. The inky dark wash isn’t typically my go-to, but it really adds a polished, modern feel to this classic bomber silhouette. The quality is excellent, and it feels like a piece you could dress up or down.

VERDICT: Definitely adding this one to my closet. I’m amassing quite the jacket collection… now I just need the weather to warm up so I can start wearing them!

Lands’ End Mac Raincoat in Oatmeal Plaid

c/o Lands’ End (M) // Land’s End Polo Sweater (M) // Frame Pixie Arrow (30P) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The Mac Raincoat is not only stylish, but also practical, so you can wear it to and from the office or even out for date night. The fly front hides the button closure and makes it look sleek and elevated, plus the collar adds a polished touch as well.

  • Materials: Shell: 100% polyester; Lining: 55% polyester/45% viscose.
  • Care: Machine Wash

MY THOUGHTS: I love this mac-style raincoat. It’s very soft and comfortable, and I like the longer length for a modern, classic feel. The plaid lining and contrasting buttons add some nice interest, too.

As an aside, these Frye Heather Woven Pointed Toe Flats are really nice quality and super comfortable. It’s a very classic silhouette, but the open-weave texture gives them a fresh, updated feel.

VERDICT: I’m planning to keep this coat. At first glance, it’s awfully similar to the Sam Edelman mac coat I recently added to my closet, but this one is longer, and sometimes I want that extra length. The plaid cuffs are a fun detail, too.

Breezy Bottoms: Linen, Lightweight Denim & More

I’m still trying to add a few more non-denim pant options to my spring closet, so I ordered several pairs of linen pants to compare. I also tried a few other lightweight styles, including some lighter denim options that work well this time of year.

The Zoe Relaxed Straight Pant in 100% Linen in Jet Black

c/o Madewell (8) – 25% off for Insiders // LNA Dessa (M) – 60% off // Splendid Fedora Sandal (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: These straight-leg pants have a relaxed fit through the hips and a high rise with an elasticized back waist for extra comfort. Complete with slanted front pockets and patch back pockets, you can easily style these up or down—wearing from the office to your next vacation.

  • Measurements: 11 3/4″ rise, 21″ leg opening, 30″ inseam.
  • Materials: 100% linen.
  • Care: Machine wash.

MY THOUGHTS: I’m conflicted on these pants. They have a super flattering silhouette, and I love black linen for summer. The slanted front pockets are designed so they don’t gape, which I really appreciate, and the patch pockets in the back add a bit of coverage.

I also really like the 11 3/4″ rise, but they’re just a tad snug through the hips and rear. I could size up, but I have a feeling they’ll relax with wear—I sat in them for a few minutes, and they did loosen up a bit.

The fabric has a nice structure to it, which gives them a more substantial, elevated feel than more flowy linen pants. They can easily be dressed up or down.

VERDICT: I think I’m keeping these, but I’m also comparing them with another very similar pair…

Maeve The Colette Beachy Linen Full-Length Wide-Leg Pants

at Anthropologie (30) // Splendid Josie (L) – 30% off with FAMLOVE // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The pant so beloved, it sparked its own collection. Marked by a slightly sheer, breezy wide-leg silhouette and form-fitting high-rise, the Colette Pant is tried, trued, and rave-reviewed.

  • Measurements: 12.75″ rise, 30″ inseam, 21.5″ leg opening.
  • Materials: Linen, viscose, elastane.
  • Care: Machine wash.

MY THOUGHTS: This pair is interesting. They have a very flattering silhouette, but I wouldn’t really call them wide leg. The measurements are similar to the Madewell Zoe, but the fabric here is much thinner, lighter weight, and stretchier due to the linen blend.

They also have a very high 12.75″ rise, but I don’t mind it. My natural waist sits fairly high, so they’re actually quite comfortable, and the stretch in the fabric keeps everything smooth and streamlined without feeling restrictive.

They are a bit snug through the hips and thighs, and because the fabric is so thin, they do highlight that area more than the Madewell pair. This is exactly why I tend to prefer denim—the thicker, more structured fabric just holds everything in a bit better. That said, I do like the overall look, so I may wear them around the house a bit to see if they relax.

VERDICT: I don’t need both pairs, and I’m leaning toward keeping the Madewell version. The slightly lower rise (still high, but easier for a front tuck) and the more structured fabric make them the better choice for me.

KUT from the Kloth Meg High Waist Linen Blend Wide Leg Pants in White

at Nordstrom (8) // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // Dolce Vita Mikel Ballet Flats in Camel (8.5) c/o

PRODUCT DETAILS: A flowy linen blend keeps you cool in these high-rise pants fashioned with full-length wide legs.

  • Measurements: 29 1/2″ inseam; 23″ leg opening; 11″ front rise.
  • Materials: 50% linen, 48% rayon, 2% spandex.
  • Care: Machine wash, line dry.

MY THOUGHTS: Now this is more of a true wide leg. This is the popular KUT from the Kloth Meg style, done in a lightweight linen blend, and I really like them. They have a flat front with a button and zip closure, which gives them a clean, streamlined look. The wide leg is easy and breezy—perfect for warmer weather.

The white is a bit sheer, but they also come in several great colors and neutrals.

VERDICT: I might return these and order the chocolate brown instead. Or I might keep them and wear my flesh-colored cooling shorts underneath, because I do really love the breezy, summery feel of the white.

Athleta Retreat Linen High Rise Wide Leg Pant in Undyed

at Athleta (M) – 40% Off + Extra 10% Off // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // Sam Edelman Bay Sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Lightweight and breathable with a naturally textured handfeel that keeps you cool. Front zip pockets secure your essentials. Slits on side for added breathability.

  • Materials: 100% EUROPEAN FLAX™ Linen
  • Relaxed for a wide range of motion with a high-rise waistband
  • Wide leg fits loose throughout
  • Inseam: Regular: 30″ Plus: 29″ Petite: 28″ Tall: 33″
  • Care: Machine wash and dry

MY THOUGHTS: It’s a no from me, dawg.

This is exactly why I tend to avoid elasticized waistbands—they can create so much extra volume through the midsection and hips, which isn’t where I want it.

The fabric is lovely, and they’re very comfortable, but the overall shape just doesn’t work for me.

VERDICT: Passing on these.

Athleta Retreat Linen Mid Rise 4″ Short in Black

at Athleta (M) – 40% Off + Extra 10% Off // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // SPLENDID FOOTWEAR Fedora Sandal

PRODUCT DETAILS: Our take on lightweight linen fabric is subtly textured and 100% washable. Secure zip pockets to store your essentials. Drawcord can be tied at the waist for a custom fit.

  • Semi-fitted, skims easily over the body
  • Mid rise, sits below the natural waist
  • Inseam: Regular/Plus: 4″
  • Materials: 100% Linen
  • Care: Machine wash and dry

MY THOUGHTS: These shorts aren’t quite so bad—I actually kind of like them. I do feel like most shorts can create a bit of a boxy shape through the midsection (which isn’t my favorite area to highlight), but overall, these have a nice fit and a comfortable length. The fabric is really nice, too—lightweight and easy for summer.

VERDICT: Thinking I might keep these. I also have the Wit & Wisdom Skyrise Patch Pocket Shorts in black that I really like, and I probably don’t need both… but we’ll see.

Le Jean Utility Soft Barrel Jeans

at Shopbop & EVEREVE (30) // AYR Smile (M) c/o // Risen Denim Jacket (M) c/o // Dolce Vita Mikel Ballet Flats in Camel (8.5) c/o

PRODUCT DETAILS: Finished in soft cotton with a hint of stretch, these stylish barrel pants by LE JEAN feature an easy, relaxed silhouette with a curved leg, utility patch pockets, and darting details at the knees.

  • Front Rise: 11″; Inseam: 26 1/2″; Leg Opening: 19″
  • Material: 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane Woven
  • Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low

MY THOUGHTS: Still not giving up on barrel jeans… I originally found these on EVEREVE, but they sold out, so I tracked them down on Shopbop. I was drawn to them because they feel like a slimmer take on the barrel silhouette, similar to the Ruti pants I love.

The barrel jeans I already own definitely add some visual weight, but this pair has a slimmer fit through the thighs, which I find more flattering, while still giving you that fun, curved horseshoe shape.

I know this style isn’t loved by everyone, but for someone who’s been slightly knock-kneed her whole life, I find this silhouette really fun and fresh. Sorry, not sorry!

I actually love this entire outfit. The white tee with a deep scoop neck, oversized denim jacket, and perforated Mary Jane flats give this classic outfit formula a fresh, updated feel.

VERDICT: I think I’m keeping these.

Veronica Beard Leah Straight Leg Jeans in Ecru

at Nordstrom (30) // Splendid Christa (M) – 30% off with code FAMLOVE // EVEREVE Benny Crop Trench (M) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: These versatile jeans offer a casual chicness that transitions from day to night in a modern mid-rise, straight-leg silhouette that transcends trends.

  • Materials: 98% cotton, 2% elastane
  • Care: Machine wash, line dry

MY THOUGHTS: I’ve been wanting a pair of ecru jeans, but I haven’t found many that really appeal to me—even though I always love them on other women. A reader recommended this pair, and I actually really like them. They have a classic straight-leg silhouette, and I’m drawn to the soft ecru shade and subtle contrast stitching.

Here, I styled them with a simple navy top (it’s on sale at Splendid right now, by the way—30% off with code FAMLOVE) and brown flats for an easy, everyday look. I also added a cropped trench to see how I might finish the outfit, and I like how it pulls everything together.

VERDICT: Probably keeping, but I want to play around with a few more outfit combinations to make sure I’ll actually reach for them. They feel like they require a little more thought, whereas white jeans seem to go with everything. I’m not quite sure why that is.

PAIGE Anessa 31` W/ Twisted Outseam

c/o EVEREVE (30) // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // Margaux Demi (39)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The wide-leg jean you’ll be wearing on repeat. Finished with twisted outseams, the Anessa jean by Paige is crafted in soft stretch denim with a flattering high-rise fit, blue wash, and full-length raw hems.

  • Measurements: Front Rise: 11 5/8″, inseam Length: 31″, leg opening: 22 1/2″
  • Materials: 93% Cotton, 5% Polyester, 2% Spandex Denim
  • Care: Machine wash cold, delicate / gentle cycle, hang to dry

MY THOUGHTS: I absolutely love these jeans. They’re my favorite PAIGE Anessa wide-leg style, updated with a lighter wash and twisted outseams for a modern, slightly playful touch. That combined with the raw hem keeps them feeling super casual with a bit of a boho vibe, which I tend to be drawn to, especially for summer.

The fabric is incredibly soft, lightweight, and comfortable for a summer jean. My older pair is a size 29, which has been feeling a bit snug lately, so I requested a 30 in these, and the fit is perfect.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping, I’ve already worn them once.

Everyday Essentials: Tees, Knits & More

Bobi Ribbed Button Up Top

at EVEREVE (M) // Le Jean Utility Soft Barrel (30) // Dolce Vita Mikel Ballet Flats in Camel (8.5) c/o

PRODUCT DETAILS: Simple yet chic, this easy top by Bobi features a v-neckline, front button closures, and a fitted silhouette.

  • Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21″
  • Material: 47.5% Cotton, 47.5% Modal, 5% Spandex Knit
  • Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry

MY THOUGHTS: I’ve shared this one before, but I wanted to try it with these jeans to see how it worked with a more fitted top, so I thought I’d feature it again. The ribbed fabric is substantial with a bit of structure, so it doesn’t highlight every lump and bump, even though it’s fitted.

The length is also really nice—no tuck required, but it’s not too short either. Also, the scoop neckline is super flattering, and the button-and-loop detail is a nice touch.

VERDICT: This one already earned its spot in my spring closet. I’ve worn it several times.

LOFT Stripe Scalloped Ribbed Cardigan

c/o LOFT (M) – $25 (limited time only!) // Maeve Colette (30) // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Scalloped at the neck – and super soft and touchably textured – we love this sweet take on a forever essential. Crew neck. Long sleeves. Button front.

  • Materials: 63% Polyester 34% Cotton 3% Spandex
  • Care: Machine wash

MY THOUGHTS: This is a cute top, but it runs very snug. Even in the medium, it was too fitted for me to wear comfortably buttoned up, which is how I’d want to style it.

VERDICT: Sent this one back, but it is cute. I’d just recommend sizing up.

The Lila Climate Beneficial Verified Cotton V-Neck Tee in White

c/o Splendid (M) // Veronica Beard Leah (30) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: A tried-and-true classic, this V-neck tee is a soft, breathable feel-good essential that’s as thoughtful as it is timeless.

  • Materials: 100% Cotton
  • Care: Machine wash cold
  • Made in the USA

MY THOUGHTS: This is a really good classic v-neck tee with a slightly boxy fit. The 100% cotton fabric is soft but not flimsy, and the length is just right for a front tuck. I like the shorter sleeve length, and the wider, slightly shallower v-neck is very flattering.

VERDICT: Keeping this one. I’ve pared down my white tees lately, and I’m looking to rebuild a bit—this will be a great addition.

LOFT Pointelle Textured Short Sleeve Cardigan in Thyme Garden

at LOFT (M) – 40% off // Maeve Colette (30) // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Textured in pointelle stripes, this pure cotton cardigan elevates your look with season-perfect polish.

  • Materials: 100% Cotton
  • Care: Machine wash

MY THOUGHTS: This sweater is super cute. I love the texture and pointelle detail, and it’s 100% cotton—which is a bit of a rare find at LOFT these days. It’s also 40% off and comes in a pretty beige, but I really love this “thyme” shade.

VERDICT: Keeping this one! I actually like it a lot styled with these pants.

Splendid Josie Stripe Tank in Fawn/White

c/o Splendid (L) // Maeve Colette (30) // Dolce Vita Lorene (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Your must-have layer, a square neckline and subtle stripe make this wardrobe classic more special.

  • Materials: 58% Cotton 37% Viscose 5% Elastane
  • Care: Machine wash cold

MY THOUGHTS: This is a really nice basic—super soft with a good fit, but it does run very snug. Even in the large, it’s quite fitted on me. I’d probably wear it primarily as a layering piece, but I do like having a beige stripe option. It looks especially nice under the Quince jacket in flax and the LOFT jacket in thyme. It’s a nice alternative to plain white or black, which is what I’d usually reach for.

VERDICT: Keeping this one.

Lands’ End Fine Gauge Cotton Pointelle Polo Sweater in Radiant Navy

c/o Lands’ End (M) // Frame Pixie Arrow (30P) // Frye Heather (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: This isn’t your average polo. We created it in a delicate pointelle knit for subtle texture and a feminine feel. Scalloped sleeves add an extra touch you’ll love. The flattering V-neckline and ribbed collar, cuffs and hem give it just the right amount of structure.

  • Materials: 100% cotton
  • Care: Machine wash

MY THOUGHTS: Textured knits are having a moment right now, and so are polo-style tops—this one combines both. It’s really cute and quite flattering, with a nice balance of structure and softness.

The pointelle knit does have some openness to it, so you’ll want to be mindful of what you wear underneath, but that’s part of what gives it that lighter, more feminine feel. Next time, I’d wear a black bra and probably add a cami as well—something like this.

VERDICT: I’m not sure I’ll end up keeping this, but it’s a nice option if you’re looking for an updated take on a classic top for spring.

Michael Stars Jinny in Caper

at EVEREVE (M) // Madewell Zoe (8) // Splendid Fedora (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Perfect for layering or wearing alone, the Jinny Top by Michael Stars features a crew neckline, muscle sleeves, and a comfortable rib knit fabric.

  • Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 1/2″
  • Material: 61% Cotton, 37% Viscose, 2% Spandex Knit

MY THOUGHTS: I can’t remember if I’ve shared this before, but I wanted to highlight it again since I styled it in this post. I especially love how it pairs with these linen pants. It has a really nice fit—skimming the body without clinging and highlighting what curves I have left now that I’m officially post-menopausal, lol!

VERDICT: Keeping this in both the Caper and black.

LNA Dessa Muscle Tee

at EVEREVE (M) – 60% off!!! // Madewell Zoe (8) // Splendid Fedora (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Refresh your essentials collection with the Dessa Muscle Tee by LNA. This versatile sleeveless t-shirt is crafted in soft cotton fabric and features a v-neckline, relaxed fit, and seamed shoulder detail.

  • Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
  • Material: 100% Cotton Knit
  • Care: Machine Wash Cold, Lay Flat or Hang Dry

MY THOUGHTS: Lastly, a top I had and wore a ton last year. I couldn’t find it in storage, so I must have passed it on at the end of the season. I think it may have shrunk in the dryer or gotten stained at some point. Either way, I liked it enough that when I saw it was still in stock and marked way down, I ordered another one.

It has such a great length and shape, and the v-neck combined with the muscle-tee cut is really flattering. Plus, the color is so pretty.

VERDICT: Keeping, obviously!

  1. The loft sweater vest is so cute. What do you think about this being hot in the summer? I never wear sweaters in the warmer months. Maybe its more of a transitional season piece and not for July! At any rate, it looks great on you.

  2. I am not seeing many offerings for slim or straight leg jeans in ecru, a color I have read is trending over white this spring. Have you seen any ecru jeans, various price points please?

  3. Great post! I feel your pain when it comes to linen pants! I like the black ones you tried on! I do not need extra fabric or flowy due to being a pear plus the the hip and rear area feel a bit snug especially with the elastic waste but a medium is too big. I am still looking around…and looking for a nice olive pair of pants too-maybe I will try the Wit and Wisdom pair you recently featured.

  4. I bought the Athleta 4” linen shorts last year and have to say they were my biggest disappointment. I bought a smaller size as they ran big but they still became so baggy and frumpy by the end of the day. Struggled to find good tops that complimented the shorts. I have a pair from a few years ago and they are one of my favorites but feel the quality has since declined.

    1. I had the same experience, which was so upsetting because they actually fit well! The vacation photos taken while I was wearing the linen shorts looked absolutely tragic. I know everybody loves linen for summer, but the wrinkles are not it for me.

  5. I think the olive barrel leg pants from Shopbop are so cute on you that I immediately ordered them for myself! I hope they look as good on me!

  6. I have the same flax Quince jacket in M and haven’t yet worn it. I keep debating on keeping it because I can’t comfortably button the bottom button (maybe bottom two. 😅). Other than that it fits well. I tried the large but it is huge. Would you ever fully button your jacket? Is fully buttoning a jacket a “test” for a proper fit or is that not necessarily so? Many of us don’t really ever button up anyway.

    1. I would never button that jacket, and it didn’t even occur to me to see if it buttons, lol! I like the fit when it’s open so that’s all I really care about. 🙂

  7. Great try-on. I want all those jackets, especially the linen Tommy Bahama. And while I love to shop, I especially love when you post an outfit idea that I can copy with what I already have. The denim jacket, khaki barrel pants, and perforated suede Mary Janes look so nice together and I have my own versions of them all- the shoes are the Dolce Vita Baylee- so all I need is a new white tee. Thanks!

  8. Love the olive green barrel–even tho I dont’ wear barrel–the color is perfection. I have a few olive bottoms–but not quite that color–love them in the summer with a white tank
