Boots are the foundation of my winter footwear wardrobe, and with Philly weather being all over the place, finding pairs that are both stylish and weather-ready is a must for me. There’s definitely a time and place for full-on snow boots, but most days I want something that looks like part of my outfit, not something I’m only wearing to survive the elements.

Thankfully, waterproof fashion boots have come a long way, and they’re not just coming from the classic weatherproof brands anymore. While I still rely on Blondo, La Canadienne, and Aquatalia for the most reliable options, I’m also finding waterproof suede and leather styles from more fashion-forward brands like Dolce Vita and others.
Today I’m rounding up my favorite stylish waterproof boots, plus a few more options to check out if you’re in the market. This is a great time of year to grab a pair—inventory is still full, and there are some fabulous sales going on (including quite a few in this post!)
Casual Lug Sole Waterproof Boots
If I could only recommend one style of waterproof boot, it would be a lug-sole Chelsea boot. They’re sleek and classic, the lug sole gives you great traction on slippery surfaces, and the round toe works especially well with straight-leg jeans, which are usually my go-to on wet, messy days.
I wore my Blondo Cammie Waterproof Booties from the #NSale all over Iceland, Scotland, and London in September. With miles of walking every day in wind, rain, and mist, they never let me down. They’re comfortable, durable, and look like a stylish part of the outfit instead of a clunky weather boot. Best of all, they’re back on sale as one of the Nordstrom Black Friday Shoe Deals!

I’ve also got my eye on this pair from La Canadienne with their sleek waterproof suede and low-profile lug sole. They’re on sale right now, which is rare for this brand! See more practical options below:

Stylish & Trend-Driven Waterproof Boots
When I want something a little more fashion-forward, I’m loving the Dolce Vita Faint H2O Chelsea Boots this season. They have a subtle Western-inspired vibe that feels fresh, and they’re great with wide-leg and flare jeans but still work with straight-leg styles too.
I have the brown suede pair, but they also come in olive suede and black leather. Dolce Vita has a few other waterproof styles as well if you like their aesthetic, including some really good knee-high options. (Oh, and the AG Brinley Straight Leg Jeans I’m wearing here just went on sale, too!)

I also really like the Aquatalia Roza Weatherproof Sock Bootie I grabbed during the #NSale last summer, and it also just went back on sale as one of the Nordstrom Black Friday Shoe Deals! It’s finally getting some wear! The stretchy, sock-like shaft hugs the ankle in a really flattering way, and the low block heel levels up a casual look without sacrificing comfort. The suede is sealed to make it weatherproof and stain-resistant while still looking and feeling like real suede.

Polished Waterproof Boots for Dressier Looks
If you want something truly polished that can still handle wet winter weather, both Blondo and Aquatalia have lots of dressier options in waterproof suede and leather. These are the boots I reach for when I want a more polished look but still need something weather-ready for rain, slush, or damp winter days.
Last year, I wore a pair similar to the Blondo Alida in black waterproof suede — an almond toe, covered block heel, and a textured rubber sole that gives you traction without looking like a full-on lug boot. It was one of my go-to styles for dressier outfits.

I’ve also had a similar Aquatalia pair for several years now, and it still gets a ton of wear in the winter — especially for date nights, church, or anytime I want to elevate my outfit while still being able to walk through slush or light rain. Their waterproof suede really does hold up beautifully, and the silhouettes are always classic and refined.

And believe it or not, VIVAIA boots are water-resistant. My daughter swears by these, and she wears them in all sorts of winter weather. I especially like this pair.
I hope this post gave you a few ideas for staying stylish on wet, messy days. Winter weather can be unpredictable, but with the right pair of boots, you don’t have to sacrifice your outfit in the process!

Great post! I live in rainy, snowy, icy Massachusetts so I’m wearing waterproof boots during a large part of the fall and all winter. My go to boots are Aquatalia which are always stylish and comfortable. I have several pairs in short and tall styles. I would love to find some cute waterproof loafers! Thanks!
VIVAIA makes some. And Blondo has these and these. And this platform pair with faux fur lining.
Thank you so much!!
Hi Jo-Lynne,
Did you size up 1/2 in the Blondo Cammie? Did you see the java suede color in person? Curious about how them but black is probably more versatile. Thanks!
These days I wear 8.5 more than any other size. (I used to wear 8 more, not sure if my feet grew or what.) So I would say they’re true to size. I saw another blondo pair in Java Suede. It is a nice shade, I would say versatility just depends on which works with more of your outfits.
I feel like the Laguna boot from Sam Edelman is being worn more for a waterproof boot on West Coast. I thought lug sole boots were out. Thoughts?
I feel like it’s largely weather dependent, so yeah, that does end up being regional as well. Lug sole boots are not making the trend reports this season, but I would not say they’re “out”. They can look stylish and current if styled in a modern way, and if they make sense for the weather. I prefer the more refined lug soles like the Blondo Cammie and La Canadienne Kiki to the Laguna, but that’s me.
Thanks for sharing some great options with us!
My favorite pair is the one from Dolce Vita!
