The Best Fall Sweaters | #NSale 2020

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now open to Icon Nordy Club members, and I was finally able to get to the store yesterday and see it all live and in person!

Today I’m continuing with my deep dive into the most popular categories, where I share my favorites and where I think you’ll get the most bang for your shopping buck, and tomorrow I’ll be sharing a big try-on haul from my visit to Nordstrom yesterday.

FYI, I’ve linked all my 2020 #NSale coverage at the top of the blog, and you can bookmark that page for easy reference when it’s your time to shop. Using my Nordstrom links to shop the sale is a way you can support my blog, and it is SO very much appreciated!

When I think of fall fashion, boots and sweaters are the first things that come to mind. We talked about boots on Tuesday, and today it’s all about the cozy sweaters!!!

The Best Fall Sweaters | #NSale 2020

This year, I’m seeing a lot of chunky knits and shorter styles, but not all. There are actually quite a few in the longer, slouchy style that tends to pair best with skinny jeans, so it will be interesting to see how that works when I get to putting outfits together.

As far as colors that are trending, I noticed a lot of navy when I was at the mall yesterday shopping the sale, and of course a lot of neutrals like black, grey, taupe, camel, and white.

I also saw quite a few rust options, which are fun for fall, and Vince has a gorgeous pink sweater that stood out from the rest. I think it will be really nice to have in the winter, once we are done with fall colors.

THE BEST #NSALE SWEATERS UNDER $100

You can find some really nice sweaters for under $100 in the anniversary sale because they’re so deeply discounted. Some brands I often look for are Treasure & Bond, Chelsea28, Halogen, Caslon, J.Crew, Madewell, and even BP. — although theirs are designed for juniors so you have to be selective.

THE BEST #NSALE SWEATERS OVER $100

I love a high quality, luxurious sweater, and if you take good care of it, it’s a wardrobe piece you can have for many years. I live in sweaters during the fall and winter, so I often splurge on a couple of really nice ones during this sale.

Vince and Theory are both brands I’ve grown to love and trust when it comes to quality sweaters, and they always have a nice selection during the #NSale, but I’m also a huge fan of the Nordstrom Signature brand. You get a lot of bang for your buck because you aren’t paying for the name brand, and in my experience, their quality and attention to detail is excellent.

  1. Glad you have power! Do you find all the Barefoot Dream cardis to have tighter arms or just the circle one?  I have 2 mediums in the circle and was wantIng to try a different one.

    1. LOL, they aren’t my favorite either, although sometimes I can make an exception. There were a few good ones with on-shoulder seams, but mostly in the splurge section, I think. I will keep an eye out, tho!

  2. Glad you have power… Like the options you have shown and that you are breaking it down by categories. Seems like this sale can be very overwhelming. I am still waiting on the sneak peak for the Canadian Website, if in fact we get one and I know the sale opens here much later in August. I started making a wish list on the USA site just in case then found out they do not offer the cross border shipping option anymore( bummer) so fingers crossed we see some of the items I have been eyeing.

  3. This is not Nsale related, but I am actively looking for a pink t-shirt. Short sleeve, v neck …..and I’m having such a hard time! I need it for a group picture. Any suggestions and links?

      1. A true pink with cool undertones  (either light or medium). I don’t look good in rose toned pink. I’ll be wearing it with white jeans.

  4. I hesitate to pay a lot for high quality, luxurious sweaters, knowing even if taken care of that they will last for years, because by next season, styles will have probably changed.

  5. Hi!
Thanks for this sweater review and the try-ons at Nordstrom yesterday. Question about the Madewell Jane Waffle stitch sweater – what size are you wearing? was it itchy or soft? anything else we should know when considering?
    Thanks!

  6. Oh, I’m so happy that your power is back on!!  What a great annual tradition for you and the girls to have, going to the Nordstrom sale.  I really enjoyed this post, and I added the Carlson tunic sweater to my wish list.  I have an early morning reminder set on my phone for the 13th.  My fingers are crossed that the 3 items I want will be available.  Has Becca decided how she wants to do fall semester?  Enjoy the rest of your day!

    1. She is going to do the hybrid – at school 2 days a week and at home the other 3. I’m glad she’s going to try it. She can switch to full time remote learning at any time if she doesn’t like the situation at school.

  7. You teased me with the Vince “gorgeous pink sweater”! I couldn’t find it it any of the pics. Did I miss it?

  8. Hi Jo-Lynne, I would love to see your selection of sweaters (as well as the others you have had these last few days) but I am unable to “open” any of them. I see the title in bold letters that say “The Best #N Sale Sweaters Under $100” but there is no way to open that. Glad you have power and perhaps you can suggest what I could be doing wrong.

If not by your blog, where else can I see these recommendations that you have?
    Thank you…

    1. Hi Nila. Those titles are not supposed to be clickable. There is a shopping widget underneath. If that isn’t showing up, maybe you have something running on your browser that is blocking it?

  9. I like this round up! I noticed you have a few Madewell sweaters on the list. Do you have any advice for washing them? I bought one of the Kent cardigans last fall and it gets so fuzzy and bally in the wash, even on delicate and cold. I love the softness, but haven’t been impressed with how they wear.

  10. Please school me on why cashmere is so wonderful. I live in California and wear sweaters throughout our winters. Thank you for sharing so much…#NSALE, great photos, recipes, family adventures, etc. You make everything so welcoming!
