Tiered Hem Linen Tee for Spring

Hey everyone! Happy hump day! For day 10 of 22 Days of Spring Fashion, I’ve got another dressed-up casual spring look that’s the sort of thing I’d wear to meet my husband for lunch or for a girls night out.

I first tried this tiered hem linen tee in white at the store, but it’s quite thin and I don’t like wearing an under layer, so I ended up ordering it in this olive green. It’s a tad darker in person than it appears in these pictures, and it pairs beautifully with black or white denim.

We actually shot a look in Nashville with this top and white jeans, but for today I’m sharing an outfit with the black denim option.

I tend to think of black denim for winter, but I sometimes wear my black jeans in the spring and summer for something different, and I particularly like to pair black with olive green and leopard.

This Clare V. haircalf foldover leopard print clutch is perfect for dressing up a simple outfit for a date night or GNO.

I had a “dupe” for a while, and then I splurged on this one during a Shopbop sale, and I’m so glad I did; the quality is stunning, and I’ll have it for a very long time.

Also, I love the sleeve detail on this top. While I’m a huge fan of the bell sleeves and other fun statement styles that are trending, this simple tie sleeve stays together and doesn’t get in my way at all.

For size reference, I have the small. It’s a pretty good fit, but in pictures I notice it does pull a bit across the chest. I don’t think I would like it if I sized up, though, because I think it would be too big elsewhere.

These shoes are from last year, but they’re still available. They’re incredibly comfortable and well made, and, happy day! They’re on sale!

If you feel that black suede is a bit heavy going into summer, they also come in a really pretty taupe leather that will easily carry you through the summer.

Vince Camuto Karinta Block Heel Peep Toe Booties

As you can see, I created a narrow single cuff in my jeans just there at the hem because they were a tad too long for the higher shaft on these booties. These jeans have a 28″ inseam, for reference.

I don’t usually wear matchy-matchy jewelry, but in this case, I wore these Tala chandeliers with my Tala pendant. I just felt like they worked, and I wanted to wear something besides my go-to pearl earrings for a change.

FYI, these earrings are still available from Stella & Dot, and they’re on final sale, but I had to find the necklace on eBay.

This outfit is a good example of how a few details can take a simple jeans and t-shirt outfit to a new level. It’s just as easy to throw on this fun top with black jeans and ankle boots as it is to throw on a plain t-shirt with tired mom jeans and sneakers, but this outfit can take you so many places a sloppy look cannot.

If you want to take it down a notch for more casual activities, just swap out the booties for ballet flat or loafers and grab a shoulder bag instead of a clutch.

  1. This is a super cute outfit!!! I love this top. I think I might need to order it…I like the look of a layered top minus the actual layers. I was a huge fan of the thin sweaters (maybe several years ago now…) that had the look of a button down shirt under them but they were all one top? I never see those anymore!

    1. Yeah, that’s a trend that died a quick death! LOL! It was definitely a clever design for those who dislike layers. (I hate the feeling of layered pieces. They never sit quite right, and the underneath layer wrinkles, and it drives me bananas. so I love anything with “fake” layers.

  2. This color really looks good on you. I think you were wearing this when you did one of your FB live sessions and I thought you looked amazing.  I have a sanctuary crossbody purse that I love but won’t spend over $50 on a casual top. But now I can look for one similar when I’m out shopping.

  3. Great outfit ! I also second the hibernation idea, we are so very ready for spring here in Ohio as well . Have a great day !

  4. Love this outfit!  Actually saw this shirt at another store in KOP mall while shopping with my daughter on Saturday. Ordered from Nordstrom and it’s supposed to come today. Can’t wait – it’s so cute!

  5. I love those shoes!  This is another very cute outfit and I like the way you detail how to dress it “down”, for a more casual look.

  6. What a great outfit!  Love the color combo as well as the style of the top.  And perfect on the accessories!  Oh to be able to wear a top like that outside without a coat!  Getting old, isn’t it?  Even my 6 year old grandson asked me this morning when it will be spring!

  7. What a fabulous top!  And I’m so happy you shared that you do wear your black jeans in the warm seasons because I opted to not pack mine up with my fall/winter clothes.  I thought they would be a nice change.  We are being hit with colder temps now, as well.  While I love it when the high is in the upper 60’s to low 70’s, I’m ready for the lows to not be in the 30’s & 40’s.  Have a blessed hump day!

  8. Thanks for sharing this outfit with us! It looks so cute on you and love the colors together! How would you say the top runs? I’m considering ordering it.

  9. Really like this outfit. I read through twice. Did you mention the size you got in the top for reference? If so, I am blind & missed it. Anyway, what size did you get? TYIA!

    1. I’m sorry, I forgot. I’ll add it now. 🙂 It’s a small. It’s a tad snug thru the chest area, but otherwise it’s a good fit. I think it’s true to size. I’m just growing in that area, for some reason. 🙁

  10. Hi , I love this outfit!! Looks great on you. What size is th top your wearing. I’m in between small and Medium.
    Thank you.

  11. Love that look. Is anyone familiar with Taos shoes. They are pricey but got great reviews. Thinking of getting a pair. Please comment if you have tried.

  12. Very pretty green color for Spring! Jo-Lynne, the other day you styled the Rattan round crossbody handbag from Nordstrom’s and Cyndi is styling it today. It’s now sold out but I found the exact same style on Etsy, however, the shipping is pricey since it shipped from overseas. Do you think Nordstrom’s will restock that bag and would you let me know what it retailed for, also the size of the bag? It’s such a fun bag but trendy, so I don’t want to make huge investment. Do you feel the handbag is very functional for all your wallet, phone, etc. beings it circular?

    1. Hey Nancy, it is small. I cannot fit my full size wallet inside. Are you on Instagram? I can show it on my Insta Story today. 🙂 I also got a box from Trunk Club and was thinking of hopping on FB and doing a quick live unboxing. I could show it there as well.

Amazon has some too – you may find better shipping there. Actually, those all seem to be sold out as well. How crazy is that!?! I don’t know why no one can keep these in stock.

  13. Great outfit!  That color looks wonderful on you and your makeup looks so perfect.  I’m on the hunt for the AG jeans.  How does the fit run on those jeans?  I know you have shared that in the past but I can’t seem to find the post with that information.  Thanks!

  14. Love that top! Also wanted to send a quick note to tell you that I really like the new format of the emails that come. The subcategories are great!

  15. Super cute look! I love olive, so I could totally see myself wearing this. BTW I love the new look to your page it is awesome! So much info in one spot.

  16. These are such gorgeous photos! Love the outfit too 😉 ! I actually bought that top in white the second you posted the sale alert last week. It had been on my wishlist, but I was waiting on a sale. I typically can’t handle wearing camis under most tops because I almost always front tuck. This one definitely does need a cami, but since it’s made to be left out, it doesn’t bother me at all. Besides the slight sheerness, it’s perfect and I can’t wait to wear it!

  17. Love the top. Do you post this in white on one of your shopping excursions?  I was trying to find it yesterday!  Great minds…lol

  18. I wish they’d quit making tops so short and boxy.  I don’t mind the short, but the boxy hangs funny.  You look so good in this top, but the model on the site doesn’t look the same.  I would never order it from looking at the site.  Do you think it hangs wide?  Looking forward to catching your live chat I missed. Thanks for sending us non Facebook people the link.  I feel bad for you guys out there. I just heard on the news that the 4th NorEaster is coming next week for the East. Oh my.  Here in the NW its warm, sunny and high 50’s to 60.  I’ll take it.  I’m so ready for Spring. I too am alone a lot and the nicer weather is better.  Gets me out and motivated.

    1. I don’t think it hangs wide at all. It’s definitely close to the body. I think I actually saw this in store first (I know I said I was drawn to it when I saw it online, but I think I tried this on in store before I found it online.) So I wasn’t skewed at all by the model wearing it. I just love the color palette, and I think the quality looks really nice for Loft.

    2. Also, re: the weather. It is FRIGID here, but fortunately the big snow events have all gone around us. The most we’ve had all winter at one time is 3 inches. So at least we’re not being pounded with snow in March. I’m grateful for that! New England is just getting hit again and again. Although honestly, if it’s going to be this cold, it may as well just snow. Except for outfit pictures… I guess I’m glad we have some green for that reason! 🙂

  19. PSS  Oops. I keep thinking of things.  Do you know of a open toe bootie with lower heel. I just love them but don’t like the higher heel and most are.  I’d like a neutral nude or tan color to go with everything.  Thanks.

  20. FYI  Just watched your live chat. When you had the clutch, it just blinked quick on my end and then your voice and lips didn’t match up.  Strange huh?  Enjoyed the live, fun.

  21. Such a pretty outfit! Do you know how the linen shirt holds up with washing it? I imagine you would hand wash it, right? I’ve had such bad luck with linen shrinking. Just wondering if you have any thoughts about that.

    1. I haven’t washed it yet, but I’ve had quite a few linen shirts in recent years b/c they’ve become pretty common, and I just wash in delicate with other similar items and then hang or lay flat to dry. I haven’t had much trouble. Usually an iron will help bring it back to its original proportions if it shrinks some.

  22. I’m so tempted to splurge on the black jeans.  How, do you keep them so…black?  I’ve got two pair, one cabi (which I thought was a splurge), but after a few washes, they both started to fade and look tired.

    1. LOL, I have had this question like three times this week – and never before! So I don’t do anything special. Honestly, I think it’s a quality issue. Also, I don’t wash them unless they get stained, and that may help. I think some people wash their jeans too often. These AG jeans were SUPER BLACK, too. My other jeans didn’t come this black to begin with, but none have faded much. My Frame black jeans are the ones I’ve had the longest and worn the most, and they still look great.

  23. I am loving all of your outfits this week! This is another winner!

Question on tops that day hand wash- do you hand wash them or wash them on delicate? I hate hand washing clothes but I love this top!
