Transitional Date Night Looks: Perfect for Valentine’s Day!

It’s been so cold here lately, I haven’t taken a lot of outfit pictures, but I took advantage of our relatively mild day yesterday to get a few new looks to share with you.

It was chilly, but the sun was out, and there was very little wind. (I’ll take cold and no wind over warm and windy any day!)

Evereve blouse (S) // AG Jeans (29; similar for less at Gap Factory) // Marc Fisher pumps // YSL bag (similar for less) // earrings // similar necklace

This is an outfit I wore a few weeks ago to go out to dinner with Paul and one of our “couples friends” except I wore the booties I’m showing in the second look. These pumps are a nice alternative to boots when it’s not super cold out.

This blouse is from Evereve. I’m a sucker for a floral print grounded on black, and the colors in this one are relatively understated. Also, the black background has an almost faded look to it, which I like. It makes it feel a little less precious than some florals.

It has a bit of a boho vibe, the way the blouson sleeve is sewn on right above the elbow. In fact, there are two different floral prints going on there, which is a fun detail. This blouse runs true to size, or you may want to size up if you have a larger bust. It feels a little snug across the chest when I move around.

I wore my AG Farrah bootcut jeans in the inky black wash and black shoes for an almost-all black outfit. I like how the bootcut silhouette helps offset the volume in the top.

I went with a silver layered necklace and drop earrings since the hardware on my belt and bag are silver. My exact necklace is sold out, but this one is similar.

My second look features another blouse from Evereve. This one has more of a sheen to it, which makes it slightly dressier than the one above, and the paisley pattern incorporates one of the hottest color trends of the season, pink!

The split neckline can be worn open, or you can tie it, and it has a smocked detail at the neck. The sleeves are more of a traditional blouson style without the additional seaming, and it has a raglan style shoulder, which I always appreciate.

This time, I wore pointed toe booties with a low sculptural heel. They’re much warmer than the pumps, especially with my favorite J.Crew cashmere socks inside, but they still look dressy enough to offset the blouse.

This outfit will transition nicely to spring; I can see wearing an open toe shoe instead of the boots, once it warms up.

In the meantime, I think it’s a great look for your Valentine’s Day festivities, especially if you live somewhere cold. You could swap out the jeans for black pants, if they’re more appropriate for your venue.

February is one of the coldest months here in Philly, so I would definitely need a coat with this outfit. I recently added this wrap coat from Mango to my winter wardrobe, and I think it tops off this outfit nicely.

I love the longer length and slightly oversized styling; it really speaks to where the trends are going right now. The website suggested sizing down, but I tend to run between a small and medium in coats, so I ordered the small. It fits me the way it fits the models on the website, so I think it’s the right size.

This coat is unlined, so it isn’t as warm as some, but it’s soft and cozy and has a nice drape. It work with a dressier look like this one, but it’s also a nice option for elevating casual looks. I wore it yesterday over a camel sweater and blue jeans.

Do you guys have fun plans for Valentine’s Day? We don’t usually make a big deal out of it, but we do like to go out for dinner. I’ll be in Miami next week, so I think we’re going out this weekend, and I might actually wear this second outfit!

  1. Thank you for showing you can pair the Marc Fisher pumps with the AG jeans! I purchased the AG jeans after seeing them on your post a while back, and I never would have thought to wear them with the pumps. Do the pumps from TTS?

    1. Yes, they do. I wear the 8, which is my most worn shoe size. They’re also very comfortable, as long as you can deal with the pointy toe, lol. They’re my go-to when I need to do any amount of walking.

  2. I’m curious about Mango! I’m not familiar with this brand/store and I’m starting to see bloggers feature it. What are your thoughts on quality, value, online shopping policies, etc? Love the look of this coat!

    1. Yeah, it’s been around for a while. I have ordered some in the past. A few years ago, I had the coolest python print bucket bag from there… do you remember this? I know you’ve been around for a long time. 🙂 I’ve seen a lot of bloggers feature them over the years, and it seems like quality is a mix. Like, some of their bags and shoes are leather and some aren’t. I think it’s a European brand, I usually equate them in my mind with Zara.

I’ve been curious about their coats for a while, this is another one I have my eye on. I was impressed with how quickly it arrived. I was afraid it would take a while, but it came in 2 or 3 days, free shipping and free returns. The quality seems decent; it isn’t lined, but I think that’s the point.

  3. I was wondering if you’d consider ordering and styling a shirt from Evereve (I’m interested in it and on the fence about). It’s the “Evereve Ari Ruffle Collar Blouse”….it’s a little different than anything I have in closet, adds some color and looks like a good transition piece and into summer.

If you do thanks and have a lovely week.

    1. This is too funny… I just looked back at my Evereve orders to see what hadn’t come in yet, as I prep for my Miami trip and what to bring… and this blouse is in my last order! It says they are still preparing it, though, so I am crossing my fingers it gets here in time to bring it with me.

  4. Hi Jo-Lynne,
Curious, how do you like your YSL bag? I’ve been eyeing that one for a while but it gets mixed reviews.

  5. Love this look! Such a pretty blouse.
I just received the Caslon drape neck sweatshirt in the pink gale.. I love the color and it’s so comfortable can’t wait to wear with jeans and sneakers if it warms up.. wish Nordstrom Canada would acknowledge links from Nordstrom.com🤷‍♀️so you could get credit from Nordstrom purchases.

  6. I really like the Reese floral top from Evereve. It’s in my cart. I tend to avoid patterns, but I like to keep at least one floral long-sleeve blouse in my closet to wear when I’m looking for something different than my typical go-to choices. (Or uniform as my daughter calls it.) I particularly like the detail on the sleeve. With my line-backer shoulders and generous girls, fuller sleeves don’t look great on me. I wonder how it would look with white jeans. I can’t tell from the photos on the website if the lightest details are white or not.

Enjoy your trip, Jo-Lynne. I’m so envious!

  7. Very cute outfits. I guess I wasn’t even thinking Valentine’s for this weekend with the Super Bowl this Sunday, but I guess Valentine’s would be the next Tues. Valentine’s was always something we did for the kids and now with grown adult kids, I do packages up for my grandkids and get sent off to them, but we usually just stay home if it falls on a weeknight. Have a nice time.

    1. I know, I almost forgot about it too! Haha! I will be in Miami with girlfriends on Valentine’s Day, and I’m really bummed to miss the Super Bowl. That was poor planning… I didn’t realize it was SB Sunday when I planned to fly out that day.

  8. This outfit is one of my all time favorites! Love the silver jewelry and hardware!! And I’m loving the bootcut jeans! Very flattering! And the Mango wrap coat is just lovely.

  9. These tops are so pretty! I’ll be honest, I thought you were wearing a bathrobe at first glance with the Mango coat 🙈 But then I looked closer and felt so silly. It looks very nice! We probably won’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. Our oldest turns 18 on Saturday, so our weekend will really revolve around him. We brought him home from the hospital on Valentine’s Day. ❤️
