Hi friends! I’m relaxing in my Florida hotel room with the balcony door open, soaking in the calming sound of the waves and seagulls. It’s supposed to rain today, but it’s actually quite pretty at the moment, so hopefully it won’t be a total washout. Meanwhile, I thought I’d share what I packed for this trip in my makeup case and toiletry bag.
I brought along three toiletry cases for this trip—even though I really didn’t need that extra one just for my makeup brushes. They’d probably fit in my makeup case, but I like keeping my smaller items separated. It makes it so much easier to find what I need, and the extra case hardly takes up any space in my suitcase. Let’s break it down!

CALPAK Hanging Toiletry Bag // TRUFFLE Clarity Jetset Case // FERYES Large Travel Makeup Brush Holder
Travel Makeup Brush Holder
I brought this Travel Makeup Brush Holder, which has a magnetic closure that keeps my brushes from spilling out. I’ve also been known to use this makeup brush holder for certain feminine products, lol. It keeps them hidden when I open my bag, and they fit really well in there.
Some of the brushes you see here are a little old, but I’ve got 4 or 5 eye shadow brushes, a concealer brush, and my eyeliner smudge brush—sadly no longer available. I’ve searched high and low for one just as good, with no luck, so every time I travel, I move this one from my bathroom makeup drawer to my travel bag. The rest of these brushes stay in my travel makeup case. I also threw in my eyebrow pencil and eye liner, and I usually include my lip liner too.

Travel Makeup Case
Next is my makeup case, and I’ve shared this TRUFFLE Clarity Jetset Case many times before. As you can see, it is well-loved! In here, I have three travel-sized makeup brushes (foundation, powder, and blush brushes) and the rest of my makeup. I also have travel sizes of my favorite setting spray and mascara, and I also keep travel-sized tweezers in here. I decant my foundation and sunscreen into those little jars, and everything else is linked below.

TRUFFLE Clarity Jetset Case // Laura Mercier eye liner // tarte eyeliner // tarte Juicy Lip Plump // Hourglass Lip Stylo in Activist // tarte lip liner in Mauve // Lancome concealer // Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray // old tarte eye shadow/blush palette // IT Cosmetics powder // BK BEAUTY Travel Brush Set (also at Amazon) // tweezerman mini tweezers // tarte tubing mascara
Hanging Toiletry Bag
Now here’s the big one: my new CALPAK Hanging Toiletry Bag. I love how it lets me see everything at a glance—I might even prefer it over my Tumi. With tons of pockets, taller items stand neatly and are far more accessible, and its compact shape fits perfectly into my medium-sized suitcase. Plus, the collapsible hanging hook and exterior toothbrush stand are incredibly convenient, and it’s made of water-resistant material that makes cleanup a breeze.

Here’s everything I managed to fit inside… I’ll link most of the products below, but my strategy is to get travel sizes of my favorite beauty products and decant as much as I can into smaller containers.

CALPAK Hanging Toiletry Bag // retainer // contacts // dental floss // eye drops // travel razor // cotton pads // Carmex // decanted skincare products // bandaids // Kendra hair spray // travel sized shampoo + conditioner & Blow Out Mist // tarte Dab & Go // La Mer cleanser // Replenix // Clinique eye makeup remover // Vitamin C serum // hair clip // Donna Karan deodorant // cuticle oil pen // jewelry cleaner // Tide To Go // toothpaste // Coenzyme Q10 Serum
I really like these STAX stackable containers—they make it easy to pack and keep my skincare routine organized. And this time, I also used some of these individual leakproof jars. Those four containers include my daytime moisturizer, toner, Exfolikate, and a new anti-aging product I got from my dermatologist. (I can’t remember what it is—I’ll check when I get home.)
I don’t always bring this much skincare when I travel, but in this case, I’m gone for 12 days, and I want to keep up with my skincare routine. Since almost everything is travel sized or decanted, it was easy to fit them all into this Calpak travel case.

I hope this peek into my travel beauty essentials helps you pack smarter for your next trip! Whether you’re a minimalist or someone who likes a few extras, organization is key for keeping everything accessible and neat. Hope you get to have some fun while you are away. Can’t wait to see what you found for Spring! Enjoy! 😉
Your legs look tan in your photo. Are you using self tanner in the photo and if so what kind? Need to start staying out of sun. 60 years old. Need help figuring out how to get a bit of color to look better.
A little bit of sun is good for you, I don’t buy it that all sun is bad. That said, it does age your skin. I get spray tans before I come to Florida.
Hi! The Steve Madden shoes….these are low profile and ideal for shorts and jeans? These are the ones that are considered pop of color for Spring? Thanks!
Yes, they check all the boxes!
Great! Thank you!
I’m curious why you tried another hanging bag?
I’m always trying new things. It’s fun to compare, plus, I like to have options to share with you all.
I’m so impressed! While I am very happy with the bag I use for my toiletries, it is rather large because it holds everything. For our recent 10 day trip, I used travel size bottles for some of the items, but I was very unhappy with them, so I will try to find some that are more stable. From looking at your items, I know that there are some items that I can put in smaller containers, so thank you! Even though it’s not a bright & sunny day, I hope that it’s a great day for you!
It beats Philly weather, that’s for sure! 🙂
Have fun in Floridia!
Great tips! I’ll add one a pilot told me – pack “light and tight.” I had previously had makeup containers break when my suitcase got tossed around, making a mess and wasting valuable product. So I moved it from a bag big enough to rummage thru to one that barely closed. Haven’t had a problem since! Once I get to my hotel/condo, I take the bigger things out then I still have room to rummage.
Interesting! Mine is packed pretty tight, so I’m good. I hadn’t thought about that as a strategy, though.
Love this peek inside your beauty routine. Nearing empty nest, I plan on travelling more in the future. Having a system that works for you makes travelling so much more enjoyable.
How do you like the Tarte tubing mascara? I still like their Lights, Camera, Lashes as one i use pretty regularly. I hope you have a great trip with some definite down time!
I love it, but the Lights, Camera, Lashes is good too. I haven’t tried a tarte mascara that I don’t like
I hope you have great weather while away. My husband was on a men’s golf trip the second week of February in Orlando and had high 80’s to 90’s and sun.
I love seeing your organization tools when traveling. I started using packing cubes when you showed them years ago and what a game changer for being organized . I just got the make up brush case and supplement travel holder for our upcoming trip to Florida in April…Yup my husband gets to go back again but this time we are going as a family with our daughter and son in law and our two granddaughters and our son and daughter in law!
Are you happy with all of the containers that you got to put your various moisturizers, lotions, etc. in? I have ordered containers before from Amazon but they leaked. I would really like to find some that travel well and don’t leak out.
Have fun and enjoy the sunshine!
Thank you!
I am, so far, so good. I will say, the STAX sometimes come apart – the little rubber ring inside that keeps them leakproof came unhooked from one of mine once, and I had to be careful and secure it well in my little makeup bag to get it back home without it spilling out all my foundation. I ordered that other set of jars to compare, and so far, they are okay, but they don’t feel as secure when you tighten them. They don’t have the rubber ring, so we’ll see… but so far, they are doing okay.
Is there a link for your sweater?
Just saw the above link:)
Thanks for this post about packing skincare and makeup products for traveling. For carryon, how do you manage to conform to the airlines’ rules for carrying liquids in 3oz. containers and only in what will fit in a 1 quart clear ziplock bag? Do you have any cute travel bags that fit this rule? Have fun in FL!
I have TSA Precheck. I never have to take my toiletries out of my bag, and they don’t care about a clear ziplock. I’m not even sure they care about travel sizes, although I try to stick to that. It’s so freeing. HIGHLY recommend TSA Precheck, even if you don’t travel all that often. You can also keep your shoes on and don’t have to take your laptop or electronics out of your bag at security. If you do need a clear quart size container, these are perfect for that, and super affordable. I have them, but I didn’t end up using them.
duh – I should investigate TSA precheck. Thanks for the tip. Last year I actually bought the clear quart-sized bags you recommended. I loaned them to a friend but haven’t used them myself yet. You’re right – very affordable.
Sure enjoy seeing g all the small travel size items! I’ll be checking out several for an upcoming trip to Europe later this Spring. I’m going to need to consolidate my packing strategy!!!🤪 Thanks for sharing what works for you and for trying out so many things for all of us!!! Enjoy your trip! ☀️
I got serious about consolidating toiletries when we flew to Italy 2 years ago. (My first international flight.) My goal was to do carry on only, although I ended up giving up and checking a bag, lol. But still, paring down my toiletries by decanting and purchasing travel sizes (and keeping my travel toiletry bag ready to go at all times) was a game changer for me. It makes travel (and sticking to a carry on, which I try to do when I can) so much easier.
I see you are taking three bags. Do you check your makeup? I always have a problem with knowing how much makeup to check or flying with carry on luggage only. Your thoughts?
I checked the skincare bag and packed the makeup in my carry-on bag. I brought 2 suitcases because I brought so many clothes to shoot for the blog. The carry-on has my travel capsule in it. 🙂
where did you get your jacket?
Here are all of the outfit details.
