It might not feel like spring just yet, but I’m heading to Florida tomorrow, so I’ve got warmer weather on my mind! I’ve been on the lookout for stylish pieces that transition seamlessly into the new season—think lightweight jackets, versatile tops, and breezy dresses that will be perfect once the weather finally warms up. Whether you’re layering up for now or planning ahead for sunnier days, I’ve found some great options to mix into your wardrobe. Let’s dive in!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
New Season, New Styles: Spring Fashion for Women Over 40
As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.
Diana French Terry Blazer
at Evereve // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

DETAILS: Look chic from work to weekend in the Diana blazer by Splendid, crafted in comfortable French terry fabric with a double-breasted button closure, patch pockets, and raw edge detailing.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 23 1/2″
- Material: 100% Cotton Terry
- Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
This blazer is such a fun twist on a classic. The knit fabric has a soft, sweatshirt-like feel, making it the perfect mix of polished and relaxed, and the navy color is incredibly versatile. I styled it here with a split-neck tee, but I think a crewneck or scoop neck would complement the V-neckline better.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping this. In fact, it might be part of my travel outfit tomorrow!
Aiden Crop Shirting
at Evereve (S) (also in Tan/Cream Stripe) // LOFT flares (29) // Kanika Mid Pump (8)

DETAILS: Crafted in striped cotton fabric, this button-down shirt by EVEREVE is perfect for work-to-weekend wear, featuring long sleeves with button tabs, a left chest pocket, and a cropped silhouette for a chic, modern feel.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- Material: 100% Cotton Woven
- Care: Machine Wash, Tumble Dry Low
I shared this in last week’s Try-On Haul in the Tan/Cream Stripe colorway in the size medium, and this is the Blue. I think it’s so pretty, and I was happily surprised to see how well the size small fits. Now I’m conflicted about which one to keep.

I also have this fun chartreuse cardigan on my rolling rack, so I tried throwing it over my shoulders like they did styled it on the website… it really is a fun way to add interest (and a bit of warmth) to an outfit!

VERDICT: I’m debating this or the tan stripe, but I need to decide soon because I want to pack one for Florida.
KUT from the Kloth Alora Stripe Short Sleeve Henley Sweater
at Nordstrom (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

DETAILS: Horizontal stripes contrast with vertical ones on the cuffs and hem, giving a lively look to a henley sweater framed by elbow-length sleeves.
- 22 1/2″ length
- Button half placket
- Elbow-length sleeves
- Ribbed cuffs and hem
- 85% viscose, 15% nylon
- Hand wash, dry flat
I love pairing black and white in the spring, and this striped Henley sweater is such a fun take on the classic combo. It has that effortlessly polished vibe that feels current and aligns well with my personal style. My only hesitation is the length—I find it a bit long, and I’m torn on sizing.

And here’s how it looks in the small, styled with my Frank & Eileen Derry Pull On Jeans and black loafers.

VERDICT: I think the medium is the better fit overall, even though it’s slightly longer than I’d prefer, so I’ll probably keep that one.
Fidelity Katie Flare
at Nordstrom (29) // Talbots Chunky Knit Roll Neck Sweater (S) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5)

DETAILS: Katie is a go to high classic flare leg in our collection. Not to over the top wide but just the perfect balance of a full and fashionable with comfort and ease built right in.
- 32″ inseam; 20″ leg opening; 10″ front rise
- 48% cotton; 45% lyocell; 5% elasterell-p; 2% spandex
- Machine wash, tumble dry low
I’ve been on the hunt for white flare jeans for spring, and this pair from Fidelity Denim is a strong contender. The fabric has a nice weight and isn’t too see-through, and the fit is really flattering—but they’re just a bit too snug in the waistband. I think I need to size up to avoid a muffin-top, but unfortunately, the size 30 won’t arrive before my trip. (This is exactly why I always recommend ordering two sizes!)

I love the sleek, leg-lengthening silhouette, and the raw hem means I can trim them if they’re a little long when the larger size comes in.

VERDICT: I ordered the size 30 to try.
Shayla Pullover
at Evereve (M) // rag & bone Wren (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Red-and-white stripes elevate this chic crewneck sweater by EVEREVE. The Shayla pullover is crafted in a cotton-blend knit and features a ribbed hem, vertical stitching details, and ribbed cuffs with gold buttons.
- 32″ inseam; 20″ leg opening; 10″ front rise
- 48% cotton; 45% lyocell; 5% elasterell-p; 2% spandex
- Machine wash, tumble dry low
I’m such a sucker for stripes, and they’re everywhere right now! This red-and-white striped sweater makes a statement without feeling too bold for my more understated style. The lightweight fabric is really nice—perfect for layering now and wearing on its own when the weather warms up. I also love the button detail on the sleeves.

VERDICT: Keeping! This is going right in my suitcase.
rag & bone Flexi Wren High Waist Slim Straight Leg Jeans
at Nordstrom (29) // Shayla Pullover (M) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Cut from featherweight superstretch denim, these slim-cut, full-length jeans feature a versatile medium wash with vintage-inspired character.
- 30″ inseam; 15″ leg opening; 12 1/2″ front rise; 15 1/2″ back rise (size 29)
- 75% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% Lycra, 5% recycled cotton, 2% spandex
- Machine wash, line dry
These jeans are a new style I keep hearing about—supposedly the ‘new’ skinny jean silhouette, but I can’t say I’m a fan. The 30″ inseam feels long on me—I don’t love how they break on top of these shoes. Maybe I should have tried them with sandals or ballet flats for a fair shot, but overall, they just felt frumpy. I wasn’t crazy about the wash either.

That said, looking at these pictures, they are fairly flattering from the sides and rear. If I liked the wash more, I might be willing to play around with styling them with different shoes.
VERDICT: I think I’ll return these and look for them in a different wash.
Sanctuary The New Girl Split Neck T-Shirt
at Nordstrom (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

Details: This relaxed-fit T-shirt is crafted from supersoft slub jersey and designed with a chic split neck.
- 24″ length (size Medium)
- Split neck
- Short sleeves
- 51% cotton, 49% rayon
- Machine wash, dry flat
I’m looking to add a couple of white tees to my collection since I wear them so much, and I like having a few different styles to choose from. I really thought I’d love this one—a split neckline usually works for me—but the cut feels a little off, and it’s so thin.

VERDICT: Returning this one too.
Z Supply Camino Top
at Evereve (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

DETAILS: The Camino Top by Z Supply is the perfect everyday tee, crafted in soft, midweight jersey fabric with a crew neckline, cropped fit, and cap sleeves.
- Neckline: Crew Neck
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 3/4″
- Material: 56.7% Cotton, 43.3% Lyocell Jersey Knit
- Care: Machine Wash Delicate; Hang To Dry
This is another white top I ordered, and I like the design, but it runs really small. This is the medium, and I feel like it’s too small for me. I’m bummed because I could really use this one on my trip.

Here’s how it looks with a front tuck…

VERDICT: I think I’m returning this, although I will see what I need when I pack tonight. If I need an extra white tee, I may throw it in and see how I feel about it when I get to Florida.
Splendid Dre Cardigan in Chartreuse
at Evereve (S) (also in Hot Pink and Moonstone) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

DETAILS: Elevate your wardrobe with this must-have cardigan by Splendid. Finished in a textured cotton-blend knit, this chic sweater features a button-front silhouette with patch pockets and a cropped length—perfect for wearing alone or layered.
- Neckline: Crew Neck
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 19″
- Material: 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic Knit
- Care: Dry Clean Only
I thought this chartreuse color was so fun, and I love how they styled it over the Aiden crop shirt (as shown above) so I popped it into my cart. Sadly, it feels a little small. I wish I’d ordered the medium.
VERDICT: I’m hoping to run to the mall today and see if I can exchange this for the medium.
Sanctuary The Perfect Geo Print Cotton Blend Knit Top in Sky Floral
at Nordstrom (M) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Jazz up your laid-back look with a cotton-first top covered in a groovy print.
- 24″ length (size Medium)
- 51% cotton, 49% rayon
- Machine wash, dry flat
I’ve been trying to add more color and print to my wardrobe, and I thought this subtle take might be a good fit—but I just don’t love it. That said, the quality is nice. I like the cotton-rayon blend, and it comes in lots of colors and patterns. I also ordered the Neutral Floral, which I might like better, but it hasn’t arrived yet
VERDICT: Returning this one.
Gap Factory Relaxed Hoodie
at Gap Factory (S) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Soft comfy fleece jacket relaxed fit that hits right below the hip.
- Long raglan sleeves with banded cuffs.
- Hood, zip front.
- Kanga pockets.
- 77% Cotton Better Cotton, 23% Polyester Recycled
- Care: Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
I shared this jacket in last week’s Try-On Haul. I threw it on over the floral tee to see how I liked the pairing—and I think it works… if I liked the shirt more. Either way, I wanted to show how the jacket looks zipped up since I didn’t include that last time.

I really like this one; it has such a nice, easy fit. I think it’s going to come in handy on my Florida trip—I can even wear it with shorts!
VERDICT: Keeping; packing it!
Soft Shirt with Piping + High Rise Flared Trouser
WHBM Soft Shirt with Piping (S) // WHBM High Rise Flared Trouser (10) // Vince Bianca (8.5)

DETAILS: Whether it’s a dinner out with friends or a classic shirt to look great in the office, the latest update to the fan-favorite Soft Shirt, is as luxurious as it is sophisticated. This iteration features buttons and striking pipping going down the center front, with piping on the cuffs as well. Soft shirring at the shoulders add to the overall comfort. The long sleeve is not only ultra-soft, but ultra-stylish.
- Regular: 24 5/8″ Long.
- Petite: 26″ Long.
- 100% Polyester.
- Machine wash cold.
This is kind of random, but I ordered a few tops and these pants from White House Black Market. The other tops didn’t make the cut, but I wanted to share this one because it’s really nice. The pants are nice too.

VERDICT: I don’t really need anything like this, but I wanted to show you because I think it’s a nice choice for ladies who need work wear.
SPANX AirEssentials Half Zip & Tapered Pant in Smoke
Half Zip (S) // SPANX Tapered Pant (M) // Paul Green Hadley (8)

DETAILS for the Half Zip: A modal-enhanced blend adds comfort to a half-zip sweatshirt styled with a stand collar and slightly split cuffs.
- 21 1/2″ length (size Medium)
- Stand collar
- Long sleeves
- 47% modal, 46% polyester, 7% elastane
- Dry clean or machine wash, tumble dry
I was immediately drawn to these SPANX tapered pants, and also this pretty Smoke color, so I ordered this set with my upcoming travel in mind. I’m conflicted; I do think these pants are more flattering than the wide leg pairs I have (I have both the cropped and full length), but I don’t know. All together, I just couldn’t get excited about this.

DETAILS for the Tapered Pant: Seaming runs down the front of these stretchy pants made with tapered legs that give your look a put-together vibe.
- Elastic/drawstring waist
- 48% polyester, 45% Tencel® modal, 7% elastane
- Machine wash, tumble dry

VERDICT: I decided to go ahead and return this set. For this price, I need to love it. I also felt like the colors didn’t quite match, and that would bug me.
Talbots Finds for Late Winter/Early Spring
I ordered a few things from Talbots, and they’re having a sale right now—25% off pants, tops, and jeans!
Talbots Chunky Knit Roll Neck Sweater Heritage Green
at Talbots (S) // Fidelity Katie Flare (29) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5)

DETAILS: Chunky, cozy and always effortless. Wrap yourself in the cozy warmth of this roll neck sweater. Crafted in gorgeous chunky knit texture. An elevated cool-weather essential.
- Misses: 23″; Petite: 22″; Plus: 26″; Plus Petite: 24 1/2″
- Material: 100% Cotton
- Machine Wash Cold; Reshape, Lay Flat To Dry
This sweater is more winter than spring, but it’s great for those of us living in cold climates who want to brighten things up without sacrificing warmth. It’s really cozy and comfortable and has a nice fit.
VERDICT: I’m really in spring shopping mode at this point, but this is a nice piece, if you need it. It also comes in blue.
Talbots Fresh Poplin Coat
at Talbots (S) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Versatile. Timeless. Our iconic mac coat in crisp cotton poplin with a sleek back vent seam. Accented with sleek side panels and welt front pockets. The perfect outfit topper for round-the-clock ease.
- Water Resistant; Fully Lined
- Fit: Misses: 38″; Petite: 36″; Plus: 39 1/2″
- 60% Cotton, 40% Biconstituent Fiber; Lining: 90% Polyester, 10% Cotton
- Care: Dry Clean
I ordered a few spring jackets with my trip to England in mind. This is a really nice quality coat, and it has a great fit. The contrast pinstriped lining is a fun detail, and I like this color a lot.
I think I prefer a mac coat to a traditional trench; the way the sleeves and shoulders are designed are way more flattering for my square shoulders, and I always prefer a single-breasted style.

Here’s how it looks buttoned-up. I think it works, but it feels a bit snug through the back and shoulders. I feel like I’d be more comfortable if I sized up to a medium.

VERDICT: I ordered a similar coat from Sézane, and it arrived yesterday, but I haven’t had time to try it on yet. I’ll compare and decide if I want to re-order this in the medium or not.
Talbots Refined Denim Short Trench Coat
at Talbots (S) // LOFT flares (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5)

DETAILS: Elevate your casual-chic looks with this utilitarian-inspired trench coat. Crafted from a soft, refined denim jacket with button detailing at the storm flap. Features functional button patch pockets and buttons at the cuffs.
- Hits At Hip
- Button front closure
- Button flap front pockets
- Fit: Misses: 24″; Petite: 23″; Plus: 26 1/2″
- 98% Cotton, 2% Spandex; Lining: 70% Polyester, 30% Cotton
- Care: Dry Clean
Denim jackets are taking on new shapes and dimensions this spring, and I thought this short trench would be a fun way to dip my toe into the trend. I’ve always loved denim jackets, but lately, the classic styles in my closet have been feeling a little stale.

I probably should have tried a few more styling options before making up my mind, but this one just misses the mark. The fabric feels a bit stiff, and overall, I don’t find it comfortable.
VERDICT: Returning.
Talbots Twill Short Trench Coat
at Talbots (S) // Frank & Eileen Derry Pull On Jeans (29) // similar loafers

DETAILS: A shorter length brings a striking, modern touch to your favorite trench coat. In looks-good, feels-good twill with an inverted box pleat and storm flaps with buttons.
- Fit: Misses: 25″; Petite: 23 1/2″; Plus: 27 1/2″
- Material: Shell: 71% Cotton 29% Nylon; Lining: 100% Polyester
- Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low, Cool Iron If Needed
This coat is such a gorgeous green, but it’s also too small for me through the shoulders, and I don’t care for the swing style.
VERDICT: Returning.
Spring Dresses
Finally, I ordered a few dresses with my trip to Florida in mind. I get a lot of requests for spring dresses, so I’m hoping to shoot quite a few while I’m down there.
CIEBON Brynlee Halter Dress
at Nordstrom (M) // Sam Edelman Cressa Slingback (8)

DETAILS: Beautifully print fabric adds to the getaway-ready feel of this gorgeous halter dress with a shoulder-baring neckline and svelte tie belt that adds shape to the waist.
- 80% rayon, 20% nylon
- Hand wash, dry flat
This is really pretty; I love the fabric, but I don’t feel like it looks very good on me. I never do well with tie waist styles when the dress itself doesn’t have a lot of shape.

VERDICT: Returned this one.
Z Supply Cecily Polka Dot Slip Dress
at Evereve (M) // Sam Edelman Cressa Slingback (8)

DETAILS: Polka Dot details add the perfect finishing touch to this easy slip dress from Z Supply, featuring a fully lined design, adjustable straps, and a flattering scoop neckline.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 50″
- Material: Shell: 100% Polyester Woven Lining: 100% Polyester
- Care: Hand Wash, Hang To Dry
Polka dots are trending this spring, and this simple slip dress has such a simple but feminine silhouette. I don’t always love how I look with dresses cut on the bias, but this one seems to work.
I like that it’s fully lined; it doesn’t feel so much like a nightgown. I also appreciate the adjustable straps because I need to pull them up quite a bit to get good chest coverage.

I tried a few styling options, since I will definitely want a topper, and I like both of these for different looks.

Dre Cardigan (S) // Rocky Two Pocket Utility (S)
VERDICT: Keeping this one. Packing it for Florida!
Also, I really love these sandals. They’re super comfortable, but also strappy and pretty with dresses. They come in lots of colors, too.
Talbots Refined Denim Dress
at Talbots (8) // Veronica Beard Via Slide Sandal (8)

DETAILS: Our effortlessly polished fit & flare dress. Crafted from soft, refined denim. Expertly tailored with princess seams for a modern, ultra-flattering fit. Sleeveless silhouette layers perfectly from work to weekends.
- Fit & Flare Dress
- Sleeveless
- Hidden back zip closure
- Hits Below Knee
- Misses: 43 3/4″ Long
- Material: 98% Cotton, 2% Spandex
- Care: Dry Clean
Denim dresses are trending, so I thought I’d try this. I sort of like it, but I think it’s too big. I might pack it just so I can shoot it and then order a size 6 for when I get home.
VERDICT: I’m still debating; this isn’t really my style, but I’m curious to see how it would look in the size 6.
Also, these sandals are a splurge, but they’re gorgeous.
Nordstrom Pleated Midi Dress
at Nordstrom (S) // old Tory Burch sandals

DETAILS: Sharp pleats add shape and movement to this charming dolman-sleeve midi punctuated with a flared skirt for a twirl-worthy look and feel.
- 93% viscose, 7% polyester
- Machine wash, line dry
This dress is so not my style, but I was curious to try it, and you know, I actually kind of like it! It needs a good steam, and I couldn’t fasten the back on my own (so it looks too big across the shoulders) but I may try it again when I can have help and see if I think it’s worth taking on my trip.
VERDICT: Still deciding.
Rails Camellia Floral Print Midi Dress
at Nordstrom (M) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5)

DETAILS: Make a sophisticated statement in this silky midi dress featuring a fresh, flowery pattern.
- 48″ length (size Medium)
- Slips on over head
- V-neck
- Sleeveless
- Unlined
- 55% rayon, 45% viscose
- Dry clean
This one is beautiful, and I really like the styling and the print. I just wish I had time to have it taken up a bit in the shoulders. That is often an issue I have with dresses. I’m also not sure what I’d wear for a topper. Any ideas?

VERDICT: I’m debating on this one.
Nordstrom Ruched Funnel Neck Midi Dress
at Nordstrom (M) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5)

DETAILS: Ruching at the sides creates easy and elegant draping on this knit funnel-neck dress framed by cap sleeves and ready to take your night-out look to the next level.
- Back zip closure
- Funnel neck
- Cap sleeves
- 78% polyester, 17% rayon, 5% spandex
- Machine wash, line dry
This one has potential, but there’s something I don’t quite love about it. It also comes in other colors. Thoughts?
VERDICT: I’m undecided on this one too.
And that wraps up this try-on haul! There were definitely some hits and misses, but I’m excited about the pieces I’m keeping—especially for my Florida trip. I’ll be sure to share more styling ideas once I’ve had a chance to wear them. Let me know if anything caught your eye or if you’ve found any great spring wardrobe additions lately!

I vote for the blue stripe shirt. Love that. I also like the chartreuse sweater with the polka dot dress as well as the Rails floral dress. The ruched midi dress looks nice-I think a different color would complement you more. The Talbots green sweater is a good color for you!
I love those Rag and Bone jeans on you! I think they look fresh and modern, not frumpy at all. The Talbots denim dress looks frumpy to me, even though I like the idea of a denim dress.
I thought the same thing ! They look great!
Do you use any self tanning product this time of year when you go to Fla to since showing more skin?
I’m getting a spray tan today. 🤗
What size did you purchase/try on with Diana Terry Blazer……love that and want (oh I mean I “need”) that one……thanks
It’s a small.
Hi! Love the Katie from Fidelity! I haven’t tried their denim in a while, but I do have a darker wash Katie in my closet that have always impressed me. Excited to hear what you think of the new size you ordered!
On the Rails dress I see a super flattering element on this dress- the slight racer back curve in toward the neck on the shoulder straps. Super great on your broad shoulders (your words, not mine). Do what you need to to make it work!
On the splendid little jacket you featured first- is it a small or medium? It certainly seems like a dupe for the FE Belfast!
Slip dresses are so fun and crazy versatile as long as it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a nightgown. That said, the see through element at the hem makes me think chiffon more dressy and not as versatile. Like sneakers with it (which I LOVE with the Vince one!) would be too strong of a juxtaposition. It feels flouncy to me. Hmmm- thoughts?
Lastly, I’ve been loving seeing you in the Hadley lately and I bought the pistola flare and will copy a few of the ways you show them!
Happy HAPPY travels!!
Hey! The splendid jacket is a small. I have both it and the Belfast at home. They’re very similar. The Belfast is thicker and cut a little roomier.
Good point about the Rails dress. I can’t wait to wear it.
All the outfits…the two that jumped out to me with an instant ” I really like that” are the halter dress and the last blue one. Both looked amazing on you (I thought). The halter you could always have altered come in at the waist a bit and forego the belt.
Also, while in Florida….have you ever shopped at Belk? I always have good luck there….a varying price range and good selection. Maybe I like it since we don’t have it in Canada so offers some different items and brands but worth a look if you’ve never been. (Much better than Bealls in my humble opinion)
Enjoy the sun.
Yes, I grew up with a Belk (in Roanoke). It is similar to Macy’s, I thought?
Varies by location. Some of the nicer ones are more in line with Dillards, some of the lower end ones are more like a Kohls or JCPenney. I think the company itself has a wide range of brands, so each store’s buyers can customize it to what they think their customers will buy.
As to their in house brands, I enjoy Wonderly and Crown & Ivy. Both mid range quality. Don’t buy Kim Rogers, it’s terrible quality. Also check out their home department, their Biltmore line is pretty nice. Their Modern Southern Style home brand is good for basics.
I just discovered the Wonderly brand and bought two pieces last week. They’re stylish and comfortable!
I love all of the Evereve pieces on you, and I also love the black pleated midi-dress. It is so classic and elegant.
And thanks for providing the length measurement on the tops and shirts you feature. With so many tops being cropped these days, I can’t understand why so many online retailers either make this information very difficult to find or don’t include it at all. And a lot of website photos are also misleading because the models are frolicking or gamboling about, and then I find myself saying to my computer screen, “Stand up straight and face the camera, please.” And then even if they are standing up straight, I still can’t always tell if the top is cropped, half-tucked, or perhaps both. Sorry. Ranting is done. But thank you for including the lengths of tops. It saves me the time and effort of having to return things that don’t work for me.
Frolicking about… haha. I so agree. Makes me nuts.
I hope you keep the light blue striped shirt because it looks so pretty on you! I have put the black & white striped Kut from the Kloth top at Nordstrom on my wish list. Good luck with your packing for FL.
The blazer and stripe sweaters are cute. The white T-shirt looks like the Loft wedge T-shirt. I can’t wait to wear mine. None of the dresses appeal to me. I keep hearing on YouTube that big prints are frumpy. I’m surprised how many dresses I see on websites with big print. Have fun on your trip. We’re having a big warmup this coming week.
I think you should keep the blue print shirt.
Interesting, I feel like small prints are frumpy! LOL
Actually I heard most prints are frumpy. I think it depends on the print. Since I’m petite and older, I stay away from most prints. I like stripes.
Is the Gap Factory hoodie bright white or Off white? One review said off white but doesn’t look like that on you.
It’s pretty white.
My favorite from this bunch is the Alora short sleeve sweater. I had to laugh at the measurements on the WHBM soft shirt. It says the petite is longer than the regular. I have no need for the shirt, just struck me as funny. I checked and their website has it listed exactly as you do.
Oh, that’s funny. I didn’t even notice. I just copy and paste those descriptions – or actually, Amy does that part. 🙂
Would you please explain what you didn’t like about the wash on the rag and bone flexi jeans?
I don’t really know how to explain it, I just didn’t care for it. It was a bit unusual.
For me if the undertone on denim is too cool they don’t work for me. Took time to figure that out. Mid range denim colors and light can have a wide variety of undertones unlike dark wash.
Thank you! I love these posts. I don’t think the Z Supply Camino top looks small on you. Enjoy your trip to Florida!
Those white Fidelity jeans look great on you. With that much polyester type percentage in the fabric, they will stretch and I think the next size up will look too big in the legs and rear especially if they stretch any. When I need additional room in the waist, I use an accessory that has an elastic loop with a button to put on the waistband and gives me extra room without altering.
Question for one of your Saturday sessions. 😊 I have a bunion and do not wear strappy sandals for evening.
Any recommendations? Pumps and espadrilles are what I wore last summer. Thank you!
Would love ideas for this too. Have to get sandals, don’t mind some straps, for my mother of the bride dress I just bought from Nordstrom. It’s navy and not sure going with neutral or metallic yet, but need something pretty and comfortable with low heel as the dress is close to being a bit short for me.
Aiden shirt, the blue stripe is the keeper, IMO. 🙂
Love the last blue dress on you!
Do you know if they have Evereve in Florida?
We are heading to Sarasota for 3rd year in a row! Love it there. See you on the beach🏖️😊
How cool! I’m not sure about Evereve in Florida.
Yes, there are some Evereve stores in Florida. Orlando, Sarasota, SW Fl area also, are a few locations.
I like the Spanx set as far as the style. It seems like an odd muddy color tho. And the Spanx sets are too $$$ to be on a fence about.
Great try-on haul today! I recently bought several of these items a couple weeks ago: the Diana navy blazer (love it!), the Pistola Kinsley Flare, and the Splendid cardigan (I got it in the purple color). I also tried on the Aiden crop shirt but didn’t like that much on me (I ended up buying a similar one that’s a little less fitted and longer so I can tie it at the waist from the Splendid right next door to Evereve.) I’m still hunting for new white jeans so I’m going to order the Fidelity Kate to try (I like them on you!) I also really like those sanctuary geo print tees (I might try that one you’ve shown or the black floral). I always wondered who could wear that chartreuse color and YOU can! I love it over the polka dot slip dress and over the pin stripe Aiden shirt….SO cute on you JoLynne. I also bought and returned the same exact Spanx set in smoke. I liked it but I didn’t love it & couldn’t see myself traveling in it or even running errands in it ….so it went back. Lastly, can you share a link for the cute black jacket you put over the polka dot slip dress?
PS- next year you should come to Orange County to shoot spring looks….our weather is in the mid 70s and gorgeous right now.😊 Thanks for all the great looks shown here!
Oh, I love Laguna Beach. I’d love to go back sometime! I stayed at the Ritz twice for a blogging conference. It was amazing.
This is the jacket – I have linked it now. Sorry about that!
Thank you! I had one similar but with more of a moto vibe and silver buttons ….just got rid of it.
I forgot to ask….. which Sezane coat did you order? It just takes me to the general site. Thanks!
The Mac style – the one you mentioned. It’s much more flowy, and longer than the Talbots one. More modern, not quite as tailored, but very nice.
Appreciate all of your try-on hauls because it is helpful to see clothes on a real person. My favorites on you were the Rag & Bone Wren jeans, the cropped sweater from EverEve, and the Rails dress. I liked the Rails dress with the EverEve sweater a lot better than the dark denim jacket. I need a dress for a spring dress and will probably order the Rails dress. What size are you wearing in the photo? I also liked the Talbots dark denim jacket and think it would look nice with white denim. There are so many times that the things you don’t think are flattering are the ones that I think look good. Finally, I think the light blue dress is really pretty on you but that is one of my favorite colors so maybe that is why I like it.
The Rails dress is the medium.
Great try-on haul! I’m glad you touched on your traveling outfit for Florida (Navy Diana French terry blazer). Gone are the days of jean jacket, graphic tee, and yoga pants. I recently traveled thru O’Hare Airport and didn’t see ONE jean jacket!
So what do you suggest to replace them? (I’m not one for the matching lounge sets.)
Thanks and enjoy Florida. Can’t wait to see your pictures!
I am really struggling with that, myself. It took me hours to pack for this trip. I spent the better part of yesterday working on it. I told Paul, it is so much harder now that denim jackets aren’t so much of a thing. I love the French terry blazer, but it isn’t as versatile as a denim jacket, it doesn’t go over as many things easily. I decided to wear a sweater and short trench on the plane since it is so cold here, and I may want the trench in Florida too.
Maybe it’s because it’s winter. We’re probably going to see jean jackets in spring and summer. I don’t wear mine in the winter and I live in Texas. I like them for just cool weather and being in the cold AC.
Great share! I’m wearing the white gap zip up hoodie and love it! It looks great layered with the Evereve Cooper Quilted vest and my black workout leggings (Jacques Penney brand lol). It’s so soft, pure white.
All of the denim outfits look so great on you. I work from home and rarely get dressed beyond my workout clothes, but I love your denim ideas for the weekends, church, dates with the hubby or girlfriend lunches.
Love the light blue Nordstrom dress. Not a fan of the denim dress, it looks matronly. I hope you can share other white denim that’s not so pricey. My budget doesn’t allow for denim in the $200 price range. I love WHBM denim and will look there, as long as it under $100. Have a great trip to Florida.ill be near Tampa in 2 weeks spending time with our grandson (21 months). Have a great weekend.
I’ve got a ton of white denim coming in at different price points. I will have more in my next try-on haul! 🙂
I agree with you on the Rag and Bone jeans. I like the cut overall but agree about how they hit your shoes. Do you think the same length with a slightly wider leg opening would hit better? I’ve had this same problem with a lot of full length slim straight cuts. I’d like to find a non cropped version for winter, but not sure how to make it work. Alternately, do you think they would do this less with different shoes?
They’re supposed to be the new skinny, so I don’t know that I want them wider. I do think I should have tried other shoes. And they could be shortened about an inch, I suppose, but that would be more ankle than full length. Which, I think I prefer. If I see them in a different wash, I may try again.
I’ve been in Philly for a week and totally understand why an indoor treadmill is necessary! This weather is not for the faint of heart and made me think about your long puffy coat. $3×× seems like a bargain! I did enjoy styling what I could, but coming from SoCal, it was all about the layers.
Agree with most of your findings on these outfits, except the pleated midi (no) and the denim from Talbots. The former is not optimized (as my wife would say) for folks with our frame. And the denim just looks too hard to wear and by the time we figure it out, it’s over.
Thanks for sharing your city with me. S
Wish it were warmer for more exploration.
This has been an unusually cold winter for us, but still. The treadmill is definitely necessary sometimes! The wind can make it feel so much colder. You should come back to Philly in the fall. It’s beautiful here when the colors start to change.
It was chilly here in Sarasota today, and it will be the same tomorrow so dress warm. Then again, people who are “used” to cold weather that come here to Florida can be seen wearing shorts, sandals and short sleeve tops. LOL
Yeah, it will feel amazing to me! But I did notice the evenings get quite cool. I have some lightweight sweaters and I’m bringing a short trench, in case I want a jacket.
Dress buying can be very difficult. Although I am slender, I do not have a defined waist anymore, I always struggle with dress buying so thank you for your dress try-ones and helpful commentary.
I usually wear jumpsuits as an alternative to dresses. They come in so many different styles, materials and lengths. Plus, they can be dressy or casual. I find them slimming and often more comfortable than wearing dresses. Would you consider styling a few?
Enjoy warm Florida!
Janis
I have a defined waist, but it is so high on my body that it gets lost easily if dresses aren’t cut with some structure. This one I think misses the mark too much to alter it, but it’s a really cute style. I like the halter top. Jumpsuits are hard for me because of my long torso/short waist combo. I do try them occasionally, but they are rarely flattering. I haven’t seen a lot lately, but I’ll keep an eye out. I like them too, when they work. 🙂
I love the French terry jacket. Reminds me of the mini Belfast from Frank and Eileen. I like the latter better, bit the price point on the evereve better. Hmmmm. . . Also, liked the Spanx set and thought it fit well, but color is meh. The polka dot dress is flattering but the jacket seemed too heavy in my book for the flowy silky fabric. Have fun in FL!
Yes, I have both here right now, comparing them. I’m a little torn, the Belfast is thicker and slides over shirts easier. The Splendid one is really cute, though, and lightweight. Not as bulky.
I wouldn’t have thought to pair that jacket over that dress, but they showed it that way on the website, so I thought I’d try it. I don’t mind the contrast of the two, but I think the sweater is cute for spring. I also have a beige travel wrap I’m bringing to FL that I might wear with it.
I ended up ordering the evereve french terry jacket.
I think you look fabulous in the Rails dress.
Thank you!
The last light blue dress looks great on you. Curious, did you not like the way it felt on, or the fabric?
Thank you for showing what works and what doesn’t for your shape. Mind is opposite, petite pear, have to remind myself to find what flatters and not get frustrated with all the things that don’t work.
We are heading to Florida today as well for a Caribbean cruise and unfortunately I’m in a boot and crutches after breaking a bone in my foot. I looked back on what you wore when you were in a boot and bought my first pair of Paul Green sneakers. They are great for leveling out my hips with the boot and think they’ll be perfect for the injured foot when I can wear regular shoes again. Thank you!
I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’m wearing those shoes today!! Definitely a worthwhile investment. Have fun despite your injury!
Love the jacket – very similar to my F&E Belfast cropped one. I wore it a ton last year and can’t wait for the weather to warm up to break it out again. Thinking of ordering the yellow sweater – I love how it drapes your shoulders, plus would be cute over a white t-shirt with a some wide leg jeans and sneakers. I have a cropped button down (The Silvio) from F&E that I bought on final sale last year – just pulled it out of my donate pile and am happy to try it again this season. I’m excited to see what other Mac coats you find – I have an old J Crew trench that I’m passing on. The color and style doesn’t suit me, but I think the Mac would be more my style too. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the Sezanne one before I pull the trigger. Enjoy the sun in Florida! This never ending winter in the NY is not fun!
Another wonderful outfit review! I love that Rails dress on you. Can you share the size you’re wearing in the Splendid Diane blazer? I have had it in my cart for a couple weeks debating, but I’m torn on whether to size down. Thank you!
Love the Diana French Terry Blazer. What size did you purchase? I have been lucky with estimating sizes for Evereve apparel with your sizing recommendations.
It’s a small.
I just ordered the Rails dress for a spring wedding. I hope it works!
