Two Casual Denim Shorts Outfits for Summer

Even though Covid seems to be in the rear window, and I’m getting out more, I still find myself wearing mostly casual looks. Denim shorts have replaced my jeans most days, since summer weather is here, and two of my favorites this season are from Evereve.

In fact, both of these outfits came from Evereve. As an Evereve ambassador, I get to pick out several outfits each month in exchange for Instagram promotion, but I plan to share them here as well.

terry pullover // Bermuda shorts // sandals // hoops // sunnies

These denim Bermuda shorts are the Good American brand. I love their Good Legs skinny jeans, but this is my first time trying their shorts, and I’m enjoying the longer length.

The inseam on these is 7″, and I gave them a single cuff to shorten them just a bit more, but I like them both ways. The fabric has a lot of stretch and great shape retention, and the raw hem adds texture and keeps them laidback and casual. They run true to size, or you could size up if you want a more relaxed fit.

I paired them with this beachy-chic terry pullover in a summery creamy-white. The raw edge and exposed seams keep it casual, and I like the open neckline. It’s more flattering than a crewneck on most women.

This was the day I forgot to bring my extra jewelry to the photo shoot, so I’m wearing the same silver filigree earrings I’ve worn in my past few looks. They’re fine, but I would usually wear studs for a super casual look like this one, or maybe some fun raffia drop earrings.

I just got these from Amazon, and I’m going to try to integrate them into more of my casual looks. And I would definitely have added a small pendant necklace to that open v-neckline.

raw edge tank // cut-off shorts // sandals // hoops // bracelet // sunnies

When I want a shorter short, these Hudson Gemma cut-offs are a great option. I like that they’re not as distressed as some of my other pairs, and they fit really well.

They have a 10 1/4″ rise, so high enough to smooth out the midsection but low enough to do a front-tuck when I want to.

The inseam length is 3 1/2″, so they’re about as short as I go these days, but I appreciate how they’re cut a little longer on the inside of the legs, so they don’t ride up. I also really like the rear pocket detail.

This raw edge tank with the subtle tie-dye print is the perfect pairing. Both pieces are casual but elevated, and they’re great for everyday errands or hanging out with friends on a hot summer evening.

My sunnies are these Coach cat eye frames, but the brown tortoiseshell frames seem to be sold out. They’re available in black, though.

These sandals are probably my most-worn pair this season, and I love them, but I think I’d prefer a more casual option with these looks. This pair of Freedom Moses two band slides just came in, and I think they’d be really cute with this outfit. My white Sam Edelman Adaley slides would also be an option — especially with the second look. The white may be too stark for the first one.

Anyway! I hope you like these simple, yet slightly elevated looks. I think the quality of the clothing shows, and as always, good fit and proportion are key to effortless style.

  1. The longer shorts look great on you! Or maybe it’s the outfit in total. Really looks good.
    I like Evereve’s clothing.

  2. The shorts and sweatshirt are perfect for our vacation to Maine! I may have to get a pair of denim Bermuda shorts. Such a cute look!

  3. I really like the 7” length. I have long legs and they seem to work best for me. I’ll have to check these out!

  4. I’m getting ready for a few days in Vermont. What sandals do you bring to Maine when you’ll be walking around town? Do you stick with sneakers for walking in parks?

  5. Love the 7″ Bermuda shorts with the beachy pullover. Those shorts look so flattering on you! Have never heard of Evereve; will have to check out their website. Have a great day!

  6. You look great in both outfits! If I wore shorts more, I would definitely check out the Good American pair. I hope that you and your daughter have a nice afternoon at the mall.

  7. I think both looks are great for you. To tell you the truth, so far this year, I have only worn the Bermuda length shorts. I think they are the most flattering on me, and at my age, I feel more comfortable in them. I still have my 5 inch length shorts, and when it gets super hot and humid, I may wear them at home. On another note, I received the white Wildfox sweatshirt a few weeks ago, and just pulling it out of the package, I couldn’t believe how soft it was! I can’t wait to wear it!

  8. The second outfit is definitely my jam this summer. Love the look of the first, but that would be a Spring or Fall (if we had one) outfit here. I’m keeping it wild with a t-shirt and distressed jean skirt today, pretty exciting!

  9. I like both of the looks.. I am loving the 5″ rise high waisted ones on me..
Thanks Jo-Lynne have a Blessed day!

  10. Love both shorts on you. I’m glad to see the longer length is still in. I can only wear those. Great looks.
