Happy Friday, friends! I’m getting this post up waaaaay late today. This week had just been insane. I thought summer was supposed to be when things slow down. ANYWAY! Today I have a bunch of things to show you from Old Navy, and then a smattering of things from White House Black Market, Nordstrom, Amazon, LOFT, J.Crew, and Madewell.
For size reference, I’m 5’5″ and around 137 pounds, and I usually take a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, and size 8 shoe.
Old Navy Try-Ons
Old Navy is running a huge sale — almost everything in the store is up to 50% off. I like Old Navy for casual summer tops and shorts that won’t break the budget.
Old Navy Linen-Blend Henley Tee
This linen blend tee is nice and cool, and it has a comfortable relaxed fit. It’s kind of long and shapeless when left untucked, but I like how it looks when it’s front-tucked.
The shirring on the shoulders and the henley-style neckline is really cute and flattering, and the navy and white stripe is fresh and summery. This would make a great 4th of July outfit, but I’d add some more playful accessories.
This top seems to run big, although I know it’s supposed to have a looser fit. Definitely size down, if in between. It’s also 30% off right now!
Old Navy Split Envelope-Neck Top
So this top is a really cute print, and I like the idea, but it’s not particularly flattering when left untucked, and it’s kind of bulky when front-tucked. It would probably look better with longer pants, than with the shorts. At least, if left untucked.
The fabric is a cotton/rayon blend, so it feels nice on, and I think it could be a good option for ladies who don’t like anything form-fitting. I appreciate the straight hemline and the side slits. It’s a cute top for someone, but probably not a keeper for me.
This top also comes in solid pink, and it runs true to size. It’s also 30% off at checkout.
Old Navy High-Waisted O.G. Jean Shorts
I’m really pleased with these shorts. They’re really stretchy and comfortable; the fabric is 94% cotton, 5% recycled cotton, 1% spandex. They have a 3″ inseam, so definitely on the shorter side, but I do like the fit and the solid medium indigo wash. Very versatile.
I ordered both the 6 and the 8, and while the 6 buttoned fine (shown below with the white tee), I found the 8 more comfortable. I’m wearing the 8 in the pictures above, and they’re the ones I’m keeping. They’re marked down to $30, and they’re an additional 30% off.
Loose Linen-Blend Easy Pocket Tee
I like the fit of this tee alright, but it’s very thin, and I do not understand the boob pocket. Why? It’s also not very soft. (It’s 52% linen, 48% polyester.)
On the other hand, it’s 30% off $12, and it does come in other colors. If you need something like this and don’t mind that it’s not very soft, it’s a good buy. It runs true to size.
Old Navy Loose Rib-Knit Tank Top
Now, this top IS soft and comfortable. It’s 96% rayon/4% spandex, so you do have to wash it on cold and hang it to dry. I like the way it’s cut around the shoulders, but I’m personally not a fan of the longer, loose fit. That said, I know some ladies like that, and it’s a decent quality top at a very good price.
This top comes in several other colors and patterns, and it’s marked down to $14, plus 30% off at checkout. It runs true to size; I’m wearing the small.
Old Navy Mid-Rise Ripped White Bermuda Jean Shorts
I really like the fit and feel of these Bermuda shorts. They fit close to the legs, which is important for keeping Bermudas from looking frumpy, and they’re stretchy and comfortable. (The fabric is 98% cotton/2% spandex.) The white denim isn’t see-through, and the rear pocket size and placement is flattering.
All in all, these are a solid choice for white denim Bermudas! They’re mid-rise with a 9″ inseam, and they run true to size. (I’m wearing the 6.) They’re also marked down to $28, plus an additional 30% off in cart.
Old Navy High-Waisted Slouchy White Cut-Off Jean Shorts
Whelp! You can’t win ’em all, I guess. These are terrible on me, but maybe they would work for someone with a more athletic build. I don’t care for the slouchy fit.
And they’re almost sold out, so it’s a moot point anyway! But I figured I’d share them because I have the pictures, and it just goes to show, you have to try things on to really know if they’ll work for you or not.
Old Navy Vintage Sleeveless Striped Slub-Knit Midi Shift Dress
This dress is a bit of a miss for me, but some of you may like it. I don’t love the straight fit, it kind of pulls around my rear and the chest area. I probably need to size up, but then it would be way too low under the arms — it already is, really.
It’s cute for a casual dress, but probably best for someone without so many curves. I’m wearing the small, for reference. It also comes in pink, but the blue is marked down to $30. It doesn’t seem to qualify for any other discounts.
Old Navy Oversized Crinkle-Textured Tunic Top
I’m not really sure why I ordered this top. Sometimes I get something in the mail, and it’s just not me, and I wonder why I even ordered it… and then I look back at the photos on the website, and I remember that it looked cute on the model. But this top? It’s not even that cute on the model, lol.
I mean, I guess they do sort of make it look like a casual-cool, easy-breezy summer top… but it just doesn’t translate that way on me. All it does is add about 10 pounds of visual weight — maybe 20 from behind. Yoiks!
Any-WHO. I’m sharing it because I’ve had requests for summer tops with sleeves, and it might flatter someone with a different body type. I would say it runs true to size, and it’s currently not on sale, but $34.99 isn’t a bad price. It also comes in black and rust.
More Try-Ons: Evereve, Amazon, LOFT, WHBM, Nordstrom, Madewell & J.Crew
ROAN + RYAN Clementine V Neck Blouse
I shared this top a while back, but the small was too small on me, so this is the medium. It clearly fits much better than the small, but I can’t way I love it as much as I hoped I would. It’s very thin, almost see-through, and it’s too low-cut for my comfort level. I think it would look better on someone who is smaller on top.
If you like this top, definitely size up! And if you like Evereve, I have more try-ons coming from them next week.
ANRABESS Summer Tank Jumpsuit
This jumpsuit is surprisingly soft and comfortable, and I actually feel like it’s quite flattering. It slips on and off easily, so there isn’t much to fuss with, but it does feel kind of weird to be in the bathroom with your top completely pulled down. I guess I can get used to that, though. I mean, this is the woman who changes clothes in the car for a living.
I wouldn’t style it with such formal jewelry. I would prefer to wear it with something lighter and more summery, but otherwise, it’s pretty much one and done with any of these sandal options.
This jumpsuit runs true to size; I have the small.
Lou & Grey Signature Softblend Muscle Tee and Drawstring Shorts
My niece works at LOFT, and she wore this set when she was visiting us a few weeks ago. I loved it so much, I went and ordered it on the spot. It’s the same Lou & Grey signature softblend fabric as the sweatpants and sweatshirt that I have and love, so this is basically the summer version.
Not only is this set INCREDIBLY soft and comfortable, but I think it’s so cute on. I really like the fit of the shorts; they have a 3 1/2″ inseam, but I wear them down a little lower than my waist, so they’re longer than that. They’re very comfortable, and they have rear pockets, which I always find more flattering than none.
As for the top, I wouldn’t really call this a muscle tee; it’s more of a short, cuffed sleeve. The wide neckline is flattering, and it has a shorter, boxy cut and side slits. You can wear it with a small front-tuck or untucked.
Vince Camuto Kortlen Studded Slide Sandal
These slides are really fun, but I think I might like the solid black better. I don’t remember them having the pattern when I ordered them, but as I mentioned, I often can’t remember what I was thinking when I order things. #occupationalhazards
They’re very comfortable, due to the molded footbed design, and they feel soft against the foot. They do run slightly big, so they don’t stay on my feet very well, although I can walk in them. But they would be better suited for someone with wider feet and/or higher arches. I’m wearing the 7 1/2, which is true to size for me. It’s a half-size down from my usual size in boots and closed shoes.
Madewell MWL Airyterry V-Neck Sweatshirt Tee & Stitched-Pocket Sweatshorts
I got on a roll ordering matching summer shorts sets. This one is more sporty than the LOFT one, and it’s very thick and comfortable, but not quite as soft. I like the varsity stripes, and the v-neck is nice for a change. I feel like both pieces are fairly flattering.
I like this styled with these sporty slides, or it would also be really cute with sneakers. Both pieces run true to size
J.Crew Magic Rinse Crewneck Sweatshirt & Drawstring Short
And this is the final sweatsuit I have to show you. This one is from J.Crew, and it’s their Magic Rinse fabric. I don’t find it as soft as they claim it to be, but it’s not uncomfortable. It’s just that nothing compares to that Lou & Grey softblend fabric. It’s comfortable and cute and very on trend.
I would say this set runs true to size, but you could size down if you wanted a closer fit. Both pieces are 33% off today.
WHBM Pacesetter Tee
I’ve worn this in the sold black, but this stripe is fun too. I wore it with black skinnies to church a couple weeks ago. It’s really soft and has a nice drape, and you can wear it untucked or front-tucked. Here you can see it both ways.
This top comes in a bunch of colors, but it definitely runs big. I’m in my usual size small, but I wonder if I should try the XS.
Treasure & Bond Textured Tank
Okay, last piece! I had high hopes for this tank, but it’s cut kind of weird. It’s very swingy, and it’s too low under the arms to wear without a cute bralette. Still, I love the color and the raw edges and the overall cool-casual vibe.
It runs true to size; I have the small.
And that’s a wrap! Whew! I’m going out to lunch with a friend in a bit, so I need to get myself ready for that. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Friday, and have a great weekend!
