I usually prefer jeans to pants, but I’m pretty pleased with these Skinny Utility Pants from LOFT. They have a nice fit to them, and they’re heavy enough to keep me comfortable in this frigid winter weather we’ve been having lately — or at least as comfortable as jeans. They’re also marked down to $39.50.
They come in four colors — dark army green, coastal grey, pure ivory, and fresh navy. I chose the army green because I wanted to replace the army green cargo skinnies I’d been wearing for a few years. I find this color to be quite versatile. It compliments black, ivory, and grey, as well as shades of orange and pink. It also works well with earth tones such as brown and mustard yellow, which is why I decided to accessorize with this scarf.
I got my scarf at Modcloth, and it’s sold out, but I think this one on Etsy is the same material. I used method #3: The Kerchief in this post to tie my scarf.
I wore my leopard ballet flats (similar here.) I like combing leopard and plaid.
Here’s a look at the outfit from behind.
This is a nice change of pace from my typical jeans, but it still has the same level of comfort and practicality for my casual lifestyle.
My Michael Kors tote is old, but the Jet Set Top Zip Tote is similar. This is the perfect mid-size bag, and the leather is luxurious. I love the detail of the contrasting straps. In addition to this classic Luggage color, it also comes in Black, Cherry, Sky, Dark Dune, and Ballet.

Sam Edelman Felicia Flats $119 (dupes $38) | similar blanket scarf $20

I love this outfit (Jan 27th post) but I have a question. I live right outside of Pittsburgh & our winters are much like yours in Philly, can I get away with wearing flats like that with no socks (not that I would ever wear socks with these cute flats ~ but you get what I’m saying Lol)? I always put my flats away for strictly spring & summer. I guess this isn’t a must? The outfit is perfectly appropriate for my lifestyle. Taking kids to the bus stop, dropping my youngest off at preschool, then running to all the after school activities my children are involved in.
I do throw on my ballet flats in the wintertime with bare feet. I always have. I am more likely to wear boots, but I think these pants look better with ballet flats, and I just like the variety. I get sick of boots. I think it depends on the weather and how much cold you can bear on your feet. 🙂
Thank you! I will embrace my flats in the winter too!
Love this look! Would these pants look good tucked in to knee high boots?
They’re not as tight as I like to tuck, but I did wear them with ankle boots, and that worked. 🙂
Love the combo.
These colors look great on you! I am just now learning to wear the army green. I like that in fashion, you have to keep evolving. I never wear socks either. Hahaha
Really cute outfit!!
Do you think the Loft utility pants run small? I rarely wear Loft pants because I need a longer inseam, but these are available in green online in tall and I love the color. But several reviewers remarked that they run small and someone said the pockets pooch out. With a curvy figure I often run into this issue with pockets, even when they fit. I’ve been buying Gap and Banana Republic pants/jeans lately because they do great front pockets.
I actually sized down. I ordered the 6 and 8 and I kept the 6. The pockets do pooch a bit, but they don’t bother me. 🙂 Hope that helps!
This is perfect! My kinda of outfit. Looks great on you!
Love your blog!! Can’t wait to read it every morning!! You do such an amazing job!!!
Just wanted to say, I tried on these pants at a Minnesota Loft store & they were disappointing, bummer! They did not work ob my body type. I have never found skinny jeans that work for me. But hey, you look awesome in them!! Just wish they would of worked out, I guess I keep looking, nothing better to do here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota!!!
Keep the awesone outfits coming!!
LOL, Laurie, so sorry they didn’t work out. Happy shopping! 🙂
This outfit is gorgeous! The colors are beautiful together and I love the pattern mixing!

I really like the outfit. With all of the colors the green pants can be styled with I need to find me a pair. But, I need to try them on, so I’ll have to check Kohl’s for some similar. Zulily has the MK bags 80% off. I wasn’t going to order one, but you changed my mind.
I hope you’re having a blessed day!
Love the color combination! It would be cute with a long sleeve tee as well and some wedge boots.
The colors are beautiful on you. I love the pants! Very fun!
Been to Destin in January/February you might want to throw some sweaters/sweat shirts in your luggage. I didn’t take warm clothes when I went and had to go buy some . The breeze was pretty chilly at times.
Thank you! It’s definitely not going to be as warm as I’d hoped when I planned the trip. 🙂 I’ll definitely bring some layers.
LOVE olive pants but never know how to style them, thanks for the tips, this outfit is great on you!!
