I’m taking a break from winter outfits today to share what I wore while I was in Destin – Fort Walton Beach last weekend.
It wasn’t exactly warm, but it was too warm for turtlenecks and boots, so I brought some of my spring clothes along. Even though I’m wearing a winter capsule wardrobe for a month, I’ve picked up a couple of things in anticipation of spring, so I was excited to break them out of hibernation!
This is what I wore on the trip down, and this outfit actually IS part of my winter capsule. The oatmeal sweater is lightweight, so it’s the perfect transition piece. I actually got it last spring at J.Jill, so it’s more of a spring sweater than a winter one. I wore my red wool peacoat on the plane because it was sooo cold when I left Philly, but I was able to pack it in my suitcase on the way home so I didn’t have to lug it back.

On Saturday, we hung out at the beach house for several brainstorming/mastermind sessions. What I love about this group of women is that everyone got a chance to talk. We were fairly organized with our sessions, and we went around the circle sharing our challenges and getting help and advice from everyone else in the group. Of course, we got off topic at times, but there was always someone to reign us back in and make sure that everyone got a chance to share or ask advice or whatever the purpose was for that session. All of the bloggers who were on the trip are serious about their businesses, but we all have different focuses, different knowledge areas, and different challenges. It made for a very fruitful weekend.
For our mastermind sessions on Saturday, I dressed casually in a baseball tee (it came in a LeTote, and I bought it because I couldn’t bear to part with it) and my ripped black jeans and Converse. Before we got started that morning, I talked Amy into take some pictures of me in front of the bright blue siding of the beach house. The lighting was perfect, and the pictures came out really cute.

That night we went out to dinner, so I changed into a coral V-neck sweater and heels. Then I found out we’d be walking along the boardwalk for a while, so I changed into leopard flats and a grey crossbody, but I got some pictures in the dressier outfit first.

On Sunday, we had a morning session and then went to lunch at a cute bistro. I wore my new grey 3/4 sleeve top from LOFT and cropped skinny jeans. I love this top. It’s definitely going to be on repeat this spring!
Here’s another view. I took this top-down selfie for Instagram.

We went out to dinner Sunday night, and I changed again. I didn’t get any pictures, but I wore the outfit again yesterday and took a few mirror selfies. I added my new white faux leather moto jacket because it was such a mild day.
I want to give a shout out for this jacket. It is faux leather, which I am typically not a fan of, but it’s super soft and really cute on, and the price is right at $145! It comes in black too. One of these days, I’ll get around to cleaning my mirror. Ha!

Phew! That was a long one.
It’s good to be home, but re-entry is always a bit rocky. I got a nice 4-mile run in yesterday, which is a good thing because it’s rainy and icky outside today. I have a workout appointment at noon, which is good for getting those endorphins flowing, but it also kind of stinks because that means I can’t really get dressed until the afternoon. Oh, well. You gotta fit it in where you can, right??
One more thing before I let you go. I just started using Snapchat. It’s not just for teenagers!! If you’re on Snapchat, or looking to connect with other moms in a more casual way, give it a try! I’m @jolynneshane if you want to look me up.

I love every single one of these! And that Loft top, I agree, it’s going to be on repeat for me too.
Sounds like it was a fun and much needed getaway. My two bffs and I like to try to have a girl’s weekend every couple of years. We live scattered throughout the state, so it’s always nice to get qt in and take a breather from the everyday. I always come back refreshed and recharged. 🙂
I LOVE the coral and leopard date night outfit! You totally look smokin’. Glad you had a good trip!
LOL!! Thanks, Melanie!
Snapchat is not letting me add you. It is probably me. ????
You’re the 2nd person to say that. I turned off Location services, but surely that’s not it, right? My permissions are set to Everyone.
It was the @ sign throwing me off. It’s not needed in the search. Snapchat is so much fun. I follow Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman. She’s a hoot.
WOW great looks! Nothing better than a relaxing get-a-away weekend to somewhere warmer than the north east!
I love everything about this post! The outfit choices were fantastic, especially when living in a warmer climate but still cool to cold in winter. I love how you were able to switch out a top or top and shoes for a completely different look and occasion. I always have a difficult time packing for trips, especially when flying, so this was great to see. I am in love with your jewelry. So simple but classy. I think I need the Loft top too! Also, are those high waist utility pants ( that you referenced in another post) comfortable and soft? I have a pair of cargo like pants from Loft and they are rather stiff. Just wondering. Thanks!
I would describe the utility pants as stiff. The material is soft to touch, but it is stiff and thick – if that makes any sense. That is why I usually spend the big $$ on designer denim. It is soooo much softer and more comfortable. But for the price point, the LOFT pants are nice looking on. 🙂
Yes I know what you mean. My camos are the same. Cute but not overly confortable although I do have a few other pants from Loft that are both soft and comfy. Not sure why they differ so much. Thanks!
Such cute outfits and I am really digging that Stella and Dot hobo!
Thanks, Tonya! The hobo is super cute. I like that it’s a bit different.
Fantastic outfits! I also like the Loft top and think it would look great with the red pants I bought today. I just might have to see if the price is right for my budget.
I hope you had a blessed day!
Your trip looked wonderful from here in Ohio, even though we are having a mild winter. I have a question about your natural looking makeup. I’m fairly new to your blog (love it!) so you may have covered this already. It’s not my style to change my makeup colors to go with my outfits. I’d like to just look natural no matter what I am wearing unless it’s a special occasion. In particular, I love your lip color and eye makeup. They are perfect! Do you have any advice on makeup you can share? Thank you.
Hey Deborah. I have blogged about my makeup in the past, but it’s been a while, and I’ve been thinking I’m probably due! 🙂 I am not into experimenting with makeup. I basically do the same thing every day and I might change my lipstick if I’m wearing coral instead of pink, but I really prefer a natural nude lip right now. I will try to share more next week! Meanwhile, here is my makeup section: https://www.jolynneshane.com/category/beautymakeup/makeup
ditch the rips!! Your over 40 🙂
I disagree. Jo-Lynne has a young attitude and look, so the jeans look terrific on her.
I respectfully have to say though, please ditch the capsule wardrobe thing. I’ll need some shopping inspiration for Spring! I love seeing all your outfits and the capsule wardrobe gets boring.
Haha, I’m bored out of my gourd! I cannot WAIT to ditch the capsule. Soon!!!! Verrrrry soon!
Hi Jo-Lynn. I’ve been admiring your Kate Spade watch and clicked on the link for it, but I’m wondering if you have the 34mm or the 38 mm Gramercy Grand. It comes in both sizes and it looks like your might be the 34mm? I’m about the same size as you and like how it looks on you. Thank you!
You know what? I have NO idea! I didn’t realize it came in two sizes. I do feel that mine is on the smaller side, so I would guess 34. Okay, I just got out a measuring tape. The face is 34mm wide. 🙂
Thank you so much for measuring that for me! I found a really good deal on the 34mm one and I just wanted to double check with you before I bought it, so again, thank you so much. I can’t wait to wear it. You always look so beautiful. 🙂
