What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Spring Outfits

Hi, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately! I’m rounding up my recent everyday outfits in hopes of giving you a little inspiration to shop your closet and get dressed in a way that feels comfortable, confident, and true to your style.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Spring Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

Real Life, Real Style: My Everyday Looks

I wore this for a casual day working from home after my morning Pilates class. I also had an appointment that afternoon, so I wanted to look a little more polished than usual. It was a mild day, so I took the opportunity to wear my new blue striped cropped button-up shirt. I paired it with wide-leg jeans in a medium blue wash with raw ankle-length hems. They have that soft, vintage vibe that feels really fresh right now. I finished the look with a taupe crossbody and my old VEJA Esplar sneakers in White/Sable to keep things light and casual.

The next day, I met a friend for lunch, and I wanted to wear my new LOFT bubble hem jacket. I paired it with my favorite v-neck tee and added light wash flares for a bit of contrast. Then I added silver flats to echo the silver hardware on the jacket, and I kept my jewelry silver too. I didn’t bother with a belt; I just didn’t have one that felt right with the outfit.

These woven silver flats are on sale, by the way, and this jacket is a great price right now! Also, my bracelet is just $15. It makes a nice, bold statement and is surprisingly comfortable for a bangle since it’s soft and stretchy.

Wow, I guess I was really feeling the blue and white that week! The next day, I pulled out this fun nautical-inspired pullover in a blue and white stripe. It has a henley neckline with grommet details that add a little something extra, and I paired it with wide-leg ankle jeans in a deep blue wash.

These jeans are technically called a straight leg, but I feel like they read as a wide leg on me. They also have a subtle horseshoe shape, which keeps them feeling current, and the fabric is super soft and stretchy. They are sooo comfortable. I got them during the Saks sale, which has ended, but they currently have a gift card offer.

Once again, I went with the VEJA Esplar in White/Sable and carried a taupe bag, but this time I pulled out my NAGHEDI Nomad Hobo. I love how the woven texture gives the look a nice seasonal feel.

I wore this to meet a friend at the mall. I wanted to test out an outfit I’m considering for my England travel capsule, and I figured walking the mall was a good way to break in these new Margaux ballet flats.

My feet were very happy—no blisters at all—but they don’t offer a ton of support, so that’s something to keep in mind. To accessorize the simple look, I added a chunky link necklace, knot earrings, and a wavy bangle, all in gold tones.

I topped it all off with my Sézane Clyde Trench in the camel, and I carried a black bag. It might have been a bit much for the mall, but I have to admit—I felt très chic! 😄

And then it was back to this comfy sweater and favorite jeans for a casual day working from home.

I wore this for a gym workout and ended up just keeping it on for the rest of the day. I swapped the quilted jacket for a performance hoodie once I got home to make it more comfortable for working around the house.

Later that afternoon, I did some try-ons and then changed into this comfy outfit to pack for my Nashville trip. I sometimes get asked what I wear at home to be comfortable, and… well, this is pretty much it!

After I got myself all packed, I put on sneakers and took the dog out for a walk. She patiently waited for me to take a picture.

Then it was off to Nashville! Paul had a work trip, so I went down at the end of that to join him, and we stayed a few extra days to visit our daughter and enjoy the change of scenery. I went with a fresh variation on my usual travel uniform: a t-shirt with comfortable jeans and sneakers, topped off with a cute jacket.

These jeans had just arrived, and I knew right away they were going to be my “travel jeans” because they’re so soft and comfortable. The relaxed straight-leg silhouette and bright blue wash keep them looking current, and they pair well with both neutrals and brighter colors.

The cotton terry cloth peacoat is also super comfy but looks polished, and the white slub tee works well both layered and on its own. My leather platform sneakers have the support I need for lots of walking while still looking stylish enough to complete the look. When I got to Nashville, I could shed the jacket and still feel pulled-together.

The next morning, I pulled on the same jeans with a graphic tee and leather flip flops to head down to the lobby and get a little work done. I ended up keeping the outfit on when we changed hotels. (The first night, I stayed with my husband at the Grand Hyatt where his conference was, but we moved to the W after that—I always like to get my Bonvoy points!)

I changed that afternoon to head down to Broadway for a bit, and later we met some of Paul’s work colleagues at Hampton Social for dinner. I wanted to look a little more dressed up but still casual, so I went with a tried-and-true color combo using some newer pieces.

I love how the olive green bomber looks over a heather grey tee with washed black denim. I wore the same white leather sneakers, even though I kind of wished I had brought my VEJAs with the black accents—they would’ve tied in nicely! Once again, I got the tee and jeans while on sale, but they’re currently part of the Saks gift card offer.

The next day, we met up with Becca and did some shopping. I wore the same washed black jeans with this green and ivory stripe sweater. I felt like it was fresh and fun for spring.

I changed to go to dinner at 888—a really cool sushi bar and listening room in downtown Nashville. I’ve had this floral top for a while but hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet. It’s very lightweight, so even though it was a warm night, it still worked. I knew we were going out for a nicer dinner, so I packed my new Margaux ballet flats. They have a lot of cushion and are super soft, so I was perfectly comfortable walking the half mile from our hotel to the restaurant and back.

The next morning, I found the hotel gym and walked on the treadmill for a while and then did some weights before getting ready for the day.

We met Becca and one of her roommates for brunch at Ruby Sunshine in Hillsborough Village (our favorite!). Then we dropped Paul back at the hotel, and Becca and I headed to the Green Hills Mall. After a few hours of shopping, we were ready to eat again, so we had dinner at her favorite spot for gluten-free pizza—Doughbird.

I wore the same olive jacket and grey tee, but this time with the blue jeans. In hindsight, I don’t love this combo—the volume of the jacket and the jeans together felt like a bit much. But it was fine… it worked!

The next day, it was time to head back home, so I pulled out the graphic tee and comfy blue jeans again. I wore the Splendid jacket on the plane, but I didn’t get a picture of the full outfit this time.

Back at home, I wore this outfit to Bible study yesterday morning. It was really too chilly for this lightweight jacket, but I’m just so over my winter clothes! These olive green pants are a nice alternative to jeans, and they’re very comfortable, too.

And that’s a wrap! I hope you found some fresh outfit inspo here. It’s a lot of fun to finally be styling spring clothes!

  1. Love your trench coat outfit! You are ready for England. 😊
I enjoy seeing your outfit choices. Thank you for all the inspiration.

  2. Hey Jo Lynne!! Although you’re 5 inches taller than me but the same size, and I’m old enough to be your Mom, I love this part of your blog. All of your outfits resonate with me to a tee. Your outfits look beautiful on you and your choices are impeccable. Keep up the good work.

  3. Love the Caslon jacket you ordered and great price but I can’t wear that color. Are you heading to Florida for vacation or work? Is your England trip a family one or just the two of you? Great trips to look forward to. Have fun.

    1. I’ll be working but Paul is going too, so we’ll carve out some time to see the sights and soak up some sun. My England trip is a ladies trip with Discover Walkabout.

      1. I’d never heard of Discover Walkabout so I had to google. Sounds interesting! I’m curious to hear more details on how it works after you get back.

      2. Oh so neat Paul can join you and you are getting some more couple time. I’ve never heard of Discover Walkabout. Assuming you’ll share more closer to the trip. I loved England when I went years ago.

  4. I, too, am old enough to be your Mom, but I enjoy seeing all the styles that are current and can adapt to my age and life style. Thanks for your hard work ! I live about 50 miles from Nashville so enjoy hearing about your visits there!

  5. I always enjoy your “What I Wore”! Love the “re-wear-ness”……. it’s more real & relatable.
Totally OFF topic…. In one of your Italy posts, you alluded to an issue w your expected VAT return, but I cannot find what the issue was. I will be in Italy this summer & am hoping to find a deal on a “special leather item” & am looking for a head’s up re the VAT. Can you comment? Were prices on luxury brands significantly better?
    Thanks

  6. You definitely gave me some inspiration! I can’t believe you two are already heading back to FL. I know y’all will have fun meeting up with Cyndi & Wayne. Have the guys met before?

  7. Hi Jo-Lynne,

Wondering what size Rocky Two Pocket Utility you have. This post says M, but in a previous post it said S. We are around the same size so I would get the same size as you, but I’m not sure which size that is lol. In both posts it looks really good on you. Not sure if there is a typo or if you swapped the size out for a different one.

  8. Hi! I have a question and don’t meant to be negative but I’m curious… what would you wear if jeans didn’t exist?

  9. Love those Citizens jeans on you! I grabbed a pair and they are so comfortable. Perfect jeans for warmer weather. Also picked up the Sezanne trench but got the midi length one. Love it and can’t wait to wear it. I noticed a lot of people IRL are wearing it with the cuffs rolled to show the plaid and its defy adds an extra “french chic” to the look.

  10. I have the Paul Green Hadley, and like you find them to be so comfortable. My question is, what do you do to keep them so clean and white?
I love your blog and look forward to it every morning! Thanks so much for all your efforts in keeping us all up to date in our fashion lives 🥰

  11. I am looking forward to hearing about your England trip with WalkaboutTours! I also have never heard about it and am especially interested in the faith aspect. Enjoy!
