What I Wore Lately Vol. 49

Greetings, and happy hump day! It’s time for What I Wore Lately, which basically answers the question: But what do you really wear?

I actually get that question a lot — especially after wrapping up one of my seasonal style challenges like 23 Days of Spring Fashion. It’s true, I don’t keep everything I feature, and I don’t necessarily have the occasions to wear it all; but they are all outfits I choose because I like them for some reason.

That said, I like to capture what I actually wear because a lot of you like these posts, and it gives me a little extra incentive to put thought and time into my outfits.

Yes, it’s true. Even fashion bloggers need a little motivation to prioritize getting dressed sometimes. In fact, the original What I Wore Wednesday was a blog carnival linkup hosted by a stay-at-home mom/blogger as an incentive to get out of her pajamas when she was at home all day every day with young kids.

I joined up with her, as did many ladies across the Internets… I guess it struck a chord! I never intended to have a fashion blog; What I Wore Wednesday was just a weekly feature sandwiched among recipes and reality TV reviews and anecdotes about my kids. I used to prop my camera on a stack of books on my kitchen counter and use the auto timer feature. Needless to say, those were some unfortunate pictures.

Anyway, enough with the walk down memory lane. Here are my outfits from the past couple of weeks.

What I Wore Lately

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds-ish, with an hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

This first look is from two Fridays ago. I had a photo shoot with Alison that morning, and then I wore this outfit for the rest of the day.

And good news, I found more sizes of this jacket on the KUT website, and more of these jeans at Nordstrom and on the KUT from the Kloth website, as well! I recommend sizing down in the jeans.

That night, I went out to dinner with a friend. I could have stayed in the outfit above, but I had in my head I wanted to wear something a little more dressed-up. I had like 3 minutes to change, and I ended up in this, but I wish I’d worn my black Good American crop skinnies instead of the blue AGOLDE Sophies.

I like black better with the leopard print tee, and black jeans generally look more elevated, which is the look I was going for. This is a case of overthinking it — I’ve worn this outfit with black jeans before, and I’m kind of sick of my black jeans in general. I was trying to change it up, but it’s better to wear what looks best. Variety is overrated!

I don’t have any pictures from that Saturday; I think I was a bum and stayed in workout clothes all day, but this is what I wore to church on Sunday.

BR cotton hemp cardigan // ATM tee (size M) // Good American Good Legs Crop jeans  (on sale) // Everlane mules (sold out)

Monday was another “grace day” but I put myself together on Tuesday to take my daughter to a doctor appointment.

This black jacket is on sale at Zappos, and it’s fully stocked (but full price) on the KUT from the Kloth website. And these Sam Edelman espadrilles are on a really good sale, if you can find your size. This year’s version is cute too, but full price at the moment.

KUT from the Kloth Bri utility jacket (more sizes at KUT) // Free People tee // AG Farrah skinnies // similar espadrilles (budget option) // Halogen earrings

I had a photo shoot last Wednesday, and I wore this easy outfit for the rest of the day.

Treasure & Bond twist detail tee // Mother Insiders (also at Nordstrom) // Sam Edelman slides // Victoria Emerson Apple Watch Strap

And then I threw on this elevated sweatshirt and jeans to work from home on Thursday.

Everlane half zip // AGOLDE Toni straight leg jeans // Frye Ivy sneakers // similar earrings

Paul and I went out to dinner on Friday night. It was chilly, so I used the opportunity to wear one of my spring sweaters — they don’t always get a lot of air time. I love the neckline on this one.

And these suede loafer mules are very comfortable and nice quality. I’m wearing the spiced taupe, and they’re not as orangey as they look here. They’re pretty close to my skin tone, now that I’ve got a bit of a tan.

That brings us to last Saturday! R and I ran out to do some errands in the afternoon, and then we had friends over that night. It was still chilly, so my cashmere hoodie came in handy.

Quince cashmere hoodie // ATM v-neck tee // 7FAM Josefina boyfriend jeans (also at Nordstrom) // P448 sneakers (also at Evereve) // Kendra Scott hoops

I spent way too much time writing my 15 Years #CoffeeTalk post on Sunday morning, and I ended up with about 15 minutes to make myself fit for public consumption.

All things considered, I think I turned out pretty good, but I just threw on the jewelry I had left on my bathroom sink, and I didn’t have time to add a bracelet. I would have worn bigger earrings and probably my Kendra Scott cuff.

BR dolman top // Good American Good Legs crop skinnies // Dolce Vita Paily sandals (also at Bloomies) // Lagos studs

Monday was a work-at-home day, but I made myself put on some light makeup and get dressed in real clothes after my run. I always feel more productive that way. (I showered off but didn’t bother washing my hair.)

BR sweater hoodie // AG Farrah skinnies // re/done sneakers (sold out) // Lagos studs

And yesterday, once again, I was at home most of the day. I did run out to the garden center to get some flowers for the deck, but then I realized it’s going down to 30 degrees tonight, so they’re sitting in my garage until it warms up again.

AllSaints tee /KUT from the Kloth denim jacket (size S; also at KUT) // Birk Madrid in Old Rose Nubuck (other colors at Nordstrom and Zappos) // Lagos studs // Maui Jim sunnies

This up-and-down weather pattern is pretty typical for April, but I am so ready for it to get warm and stay warm. Doing 23 Days of Spring Fashion in March really messes with my mind.

So anyway, that’s it for this week! I guess it was more like a week and a half, but What I Wore Lately should be back on Wednesdays for now.

  1. These are some of my absolute fav posts. Thanks for keeping it real! The floral navy blouse with white jeans is such a great look! Spring is a tease for us here too. It is a pleasant 68F today, 37F and snowing tomorrow….. sigh…..Keeping flowers in the garage is smart.

  2. I love your ‘What I Actually Wore’ posts. A theme I noticed in this weeks post is that you have open toe or slides on almost everyday. I am so jealous. Our weather is stuck in the mid thirty-forty range. In fact it was 31 and windy (so probably colder with wind chill) on Monday morning. I didn’t wear my winter coat, but had it been this temp in October, I would have. Funny our that works. Needless to say, I’ve been in long sleeves and sweaters all week and wearing full socks and sneakers at home today.

    1. Well, it’s really up and down here. It’s 35 today… so no open toes for me! But I hear ya, if we were having these temps in November, I’d be in sweaters and boots.

  3. Hey there! All of these outfits are spot on for you! The v neck from BR is a great green on you. Can you share whether the Marrakech bomber more true to color in your picture? Or the picture in the Evereve site? Thanks!

      1. Thanks! Odd question, but do you know of any other bombers similar in color to the pic on you? I love that green! The one on Evereve is a little too light for me based on my colors. I appreciate it!

  4. I like to see what you keep and really wear. The weather this time of year is so crazy. We just got out of a week of 70’s and even some low 80’s for NW Oregon and now the marine layer is going to come in tomorrow and we will be going to rain and cloudy and in the 50’s for the weekend and awhile. We just get a taste of Summer and then back to true Spring weather in Oregon. I know it brings the pretty green and the flowers we have here but I’m so ready to keep wearing Spring clothes and shoes. When it rains, you feel you need rainboots. 🙂 Today Cyndi’s post said they have snow. UGH. Can’t imagine. Have a good day.

  5. Hi! These are some of my favourite posts as I enjoy seeing how you really dress for your days. I love how you throw in bits and pieces of your thinking about why you wore a certain item or outfit. I woke to snow on the ground this morning so yes, April is an up and down month.

    1. So glad it’s helpful! My 15-y/o daughter was telling me she was bored at school and looked at my blog. (She never reads my blog, so that cracked me up in and of itself… Not even going to wonder why she was so bored at school she thought to look at my blog. #goodgrief) But the funny part is, she was like, “You write a LOT! Who reads all that???” LOL! Again, I’m not sure what they’re doing in school…. maybe that is something I should look into. Hahaha!

  6. I am one of them that enjoys seeing what you really wear. Because we are in a very rural area and don’t see anyone but the guys we hang out with and because I never know when I will end up doing some sort of yard work, I really have to work at looking more put together on a daily basis. When I do my overall moral is lifted. We will be down in the 30’s tonight as well. I need to remind myself to put my one hanging basket in the garage before bed time. Enjoy the rest of your day!

    1. Yes, my flowers are all in the garage at the moment! I hope to get them out and pot them this afternoon. It’s only going down to 43 tonight so hopefully they’ll be okay from here on out. Crazy weather.

  7. You look so nice in the white jeans/ floral blouse outfit! Question: what is happening with white jeans this season? I’m having really hard time finding a new pair. All I see in stores are either older style skinnies or ultra high waisted flares. For years white jeans have been my go-to for spring and summer but I’m not seeing them much around here this year. 🤷‍♀️

    1. Yeah, I still see a lot of white skinnies. I just got the Mother Insider in white, and I love them. They feel fresh and on trend to me, but definitely a more casual vibe.

  8. If I remember correctly, you weren’t ever a fan of boyfriend jeans on you, but you tried them. It seems the slimmer girlfriend jeans might be growing on you! I think I need to go and do a little jean shopping myself.

    1. Yeah, I still like skinnies best, but the more relaxed styles look more modern to me, and I’ve found some that walk that fine line between being straight and baggy.
