Mom Style: What I Wore This Week 05.04.11

WEDNESDAY was a gorgeous day, and I was just doing general errands and things so I pulled out these shorts and shirt (bought at Gap last summer) out threw them on with my favorite Frye Kayla T-Strap sandals.

It’s not the most flattering outfit, but I like the color combination, and I tried to take it up a notch by adding the Silpada necklace and the embellished sandals.

THURSDAY I took my daughter to Kohl’s and Kindergarten Roundup. I wanted to look a little bit nicer than normal without looking like I was trying too hard. I picked this stretchy black pencil skirt from Athleta and an orange sleeveless tee from Patagonia. The day started out warm and humid, but before our appointment at the school, a storm came through and cooled everything off so I threw on a jean jacket.

In looking at these pictures, I think the skirt would look better with flats. It’s about an inch shorter than I’d like, and the extra inch in the flips throw off the proportions.

FRIDAY I went to a Stella & Dot party and then out to lunch with my hubby. I love the contrast of the teal and the white — so crisp and fresh. The Shirred Back T and white cropped jeans are both from the Gap, the pewter braided sandals are from Target.

The earrings are Stella & Dot. Since I wasn’t doing a necklace, I wanted something that would stand out. These are just the ticket.

The weather was pleasant, but cool so I threw on my gray LOFT jacket (the one from this post.)

SATURDAY promised to be beautiful, but it started out rather chilly. I put on jeans and the tank, and then when I realized how chilly it was, I threw on the jacket. I decided to go with the sandals to keep it springy.

The jeans are Paige Premium, and the tank is the Banana Republic Timeless tank, and the khaki jacket is from LOFT. The jacket’s really cute, I should have shot a photo from the back.

The necklace is Silpada (same as Wednesday.) It’s one of my favorites. I also had on the matching earrings but I didn’t get a good picture of them.

And then I stopped taking pictures so that’s all I’ve got. For more What I Wore Wednesday, head on over to The Pleated Poppy!

  1. My favorite is the last outfit! Proof that great pieces can be ‘thrown’ one and always look amazing! Love the jacket and the necklace is really cute!

    Love your WIWW posts!

    1. Thanks, yeah, I usually have to put more thought into my outfits. I love it when things just come together. 🙂

    1. It’s a keeper. I love how the earrings go but aren’t too matchy-matchy. They had a bracelet too, at one point. I wish I’d bought it. Wonder if they still make it…

  2. I LOVE those sandals! I keep looking for something like that. LOVE the color combo of the teal and the white but I really like the color orange on you! That shirt looks lovely, goes well with skin tone and makes your face really pop! In a good way … lol! I think my favorite outfit is the last though, great colors together 🙂

    1. Thanks, yeah, I’ve never put that last outfit together before, and it just sorta happened. I like it a lot!

  3. Ahhhhhhhhhh it’s WEDNESDAY! 😀

I have that same skirt from Athleta and wondered why I am not thrilled about it. I will try it again today for my lunch date and see what I think. It’s chilly but not freezing here – I think I can make it work.

I love the khaki jacket. I love it when things are cute in the back too!

    1. Yeah, that skirt is a DITE too short. I like skirts that almost hit my knee. So flats are a must from now on. 🙂

  4. All of your outfits look great–as always! Coral is definitely your color, pops of it are so refreshing and make me think of summer.

I wish we needed jackets more often down here in TX!

    1. I really wanted the blue ones, but they didn’t have my size. I’m getting more wear out of the pewter than I thought I would, and I’m really glad I bought them!!

  5. Cute!! I was inspired today and threw on a scarf w/ my outfit to go grocery shopping. I think it was cute, but I’m definitely not a confident scarf-wearer. I kept fiddling with it. I need to just get it right and let it be!
