Best of 2022: Reader Favorites in Fashion, Beauty & Home

Well, it’s that time again. Let the year end recaps begin! Today I’ve rounded up your favorite products from my blog and social media channels this year, and I decided to make three separate lists for fashion, beauty, and home.

It’s always fun to look back over the year and see what items resonated the most with you all, and some may surprise you. They did me.

similar coat // sweater (option) // jeans // booties // scarf (option) // similar bag // sunnies

2022 Top Ten Reader Favorites in Fashion

Of course, fashion is by far my most popular topic and the focus of this blog. I found it interesting that no shoes made this year’s Top Ten, but there’s a good variety in the clothing categories represented. I was also pleasantly surprised that most of these items are still in stock!

As always, these reader favorites are listed in typical Top Ten countdown order, with the most popular item at the end.

also wearing: Michael Kors Cleo Slingback Sandals

#10. Caslon Textured Knit Tie Waist Cotton Blend Midi Dress (S) // This transitional dress was a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchase, and I looked forward to wearing it but never had the opportunity. Oh, well! I hope those of you who purchased it fared better than I did. It’s currently marked down to $33.75 so definitely snap one up if you didn’t grab one last summer!

also wearing: Edwin Ryder Bootcut Jeans (29; more) // Sam Edelman Agnes Western Boots (8)

#9. LOFT Tie Neck Floral Blouse (S) // This fun boho style blouse is actually still in stock in most sizes, and marked down to $19 with code WOW. I think the color palette is so pretty, and it’s one of those 3-season tops so you get a really good cost per wear.

also wearing: Paige Cindy Straight Ankle Jeans (29) // Sam Edelman Agnes Western Boots (8) // AllSaints Captain Round Leather Crossbody

#8. Treasure & Bond V-Neck Sweater (S) // This sweater was another #NSale purchase. I love the fit and the details, and the price point is great too. It came in three colors, and I believe there are a few sizes left in the taupe and burgundy. I actually have both!

#7. Leather Bomber Jacket with Faux Shearling Collar (S; option/option) // And another #NSale purchase… this one, unfortunately, has not stayed well stocked, which is a shame, because I love it. I haven’t worn it as much as I expected to because it’s been such a cold fall and winter so far, but it’s definitely a keeper. The shearling collar is removable, which is a nice feature.

also wearing: Evereve Chloe Cable Vest (S) // Kork-Ease Darby Clogs (8)

#6. Mother Raw Hem Flare Jeans (28; more options here) // These jeans are one of my favorite #NSale purchases, and I later realized they are the Weekender style, even though they didn’t use that label for some reason. They’re a mid-rise fray hem bootcut, so flattering as well as stretchy and soft and comfortable.

also wearing: Spanx 4-In Stretch Twill Shorts (M) // YSL 55MM Square Sunglasses

#5. LOFT Smocked V-Neck Muscle Tee (S) // I love this elevated tee with the smocked muscle tee design. It makes it a little more special than a plain tee, but just as wearable. And somehow it is still available, AND it comes down to $7.94 with code WOW. (These shorts are also on sale, marked down to $40 at Nordstrom!)

also wearing: Mother Insiders (28) // Vince Camuto Molisana Wedge Sandals (8)

#4. Old Navy Shirred Double Weave Long Sleeve Blouse (S) // This blouse was so popular last spring, it was in the top ten products for several months. Such a cute one, and very soft and comfortable for a woven fabric. Also, still available, and it comes down to $24.49 in cart.

also wearing: Sam Edelman Kia Sandals (8) // blouse not available

#3. Good Straight High Waist Raw Hem Jeans (6) // These white jeans sold like hotcakes last spring. They were my favorites before I got the Mother Dazzlers, which I ended up gravitating to more for some reason. These are really good, though – nice and thick and stretchy, and they hold in all the fluff. They’re true to size, and fit really tight at first, but don’t size up because they will mold to your body in the best of ways.

also wearing: similar Mother Weekender Flares // Dolce Vita Volli Boots (8)

#2. Loft Fair Isle Sweater (S) // This sweater is no stranger to you regulars, it’s been extremely popular this month. I like that it has a festive flair, but it can also be worn after the holidays. Unfortunately, it does appear to be sold out at the moment, but it seems to be going in and out of stock, so keep an eye on it if you’ve been wanting one.

And first place goes to . . . *drum roll please* 🥁

#1. Frame Le High Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans (29) // These jeans were by far and away the top seller of 2022, and for good reason. They’re pretty much the perfect pair of straight ankle blue jeans. The fit is just about perfect, they’re comfortable, and the wash goes with almost anything. They’re true to size, or size up if in between.

2022 Top Ten Beauty Favorites

I tend to find things I like and stick with the same beauty products for years, but I’ve had the opportunity to try some new things this year that I ended up loving. Some of those made this list, along with a lot of my tried and true favorites from past years.

Once again, these reader favorites are listed in typical Top Ten countdown order, with the most popular item at the end.

#10. MAC Cosmetics 5-Pc Everyday Favorites Collection // This was a QVC find, and it has become my go-to eyeshadow for bolder everyday looks and when I want to amp it up for nighttime. It has some really nice neutral shades, and it blends easily and stays all day (and night) without creasing or fading. It comes in a set with a really good eye shadow as well!

#9. The Laundress Sweater Stone // This is a necessity for keeping your knitwear in tip-top shape!

#8. COOLA Organic Liplux Lip Balm And Sunscreen With SPF 30 // A lip balm by my favorite organic sunscreen brand.

#7. L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil // I’ve been using this shower oil/cleansing gel for years, so I have no idea why I don’t have a better picture of it, but this will do. I keep this moisturizing body wash in my shower, and I have the travel size that I bring with me on trips. It smells so good and is moisturizing and gentle on the skin. I also use it for shaving, so no need to have another product for that!

#6. ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm // This is my go-to cleansing balm; I use it every night to remove my makeup. I love the scent, and the way it melts away the makeup along with the dirt and grime from the day. It’s also currently 30% off at Amazon!

#5. CND SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care // I’ve been using this product almost as long as the L’Occitane Shower Oil. The ladies at the nail salon where I used to get my nails done regularly swore by this cuticle oil, and they were right. When I’m consistent with it (I put it on right before bed at night) my nails stay really healthy and strong.

#4. LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask // I can’t remember when I found this lip balm, but I’ve been using it for quite some time, and it’s a favorite of one of my daughters as well. I usually put it on at night before bed, but you can use it as a chapstick during the daytime as well.

#3. tarte Shape Tape Cream Foundation & Brush // This was another QVC find – a full coverage cream foundation that I love for covering my melasma and other skin discolorations due to aging and sun exposure over the years.

#2. Perricone MD No Makeup Eyeshadow // I discovered this product last summer; I don’t even remember what made me order it, but it’s a really nice one for when you want a natural look. As we age, our eyelids often show veins and other discolorations, and this product gives you that youthful no-makeup look with a soft, satin finish.

#1. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer & Eye Cream w/ Luxe Brush // This product took the blog by storm this month! It’s amazing at under eye coverage, especially when you use the brush and eye cream that come with it. It’s also an amazing price! If purchased separately, these products would be over $100, and they’re currently a QVC $49.96 + free standard S&H through 12/31/22.

2022 Top Ten Favorites in Home/Lifestyle

This area is definitely not my focus, but I do link to various home and lifestyle products throughout the year, and I thought it would be interesting to see what made the top ten. These are basically the Amazon best sellers apart from beauty products.

#10. SMARTAKE 13-Piece Drawer Organizers with Non-Slip Silicone Pads // I bought two sets of these drawer organizers for my new master bathroom vanity, and they work great for keeping my makeup and skincare organized. We also use some in the kitchen.

#9. Echo Dot with Clock // I love my Echo Dot! I sits on the nightstand by my bed, and I can tell Alexa to turn the lights on or off, to set my alarm, or to set a reminder. I especially love the clock so I don’t need a separate alarm clock.

#8. Amazon.com Gift Card in a Holiday Gift Box // These gift cards are top sellers every year. I love how they come in cute gift boxes.

#7. Panasonic Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer // This is such a random gadget that I mentioned once, and it cracks me up that it made the top ten for the year! But seriously, this little gadget is something everyone needs. For some reason, they label it for men, but shhh…. I use it too.

#6. Aibocn Power Bank 6700mAh Lipstick-Sized Portable Charger // This is a nifty little gizmo that anyone with a smartphone can use. I rely on mine when traveling.

#5. The Things We Cannot Say // This is the best book I read all year; my son gave it to me for Christmas last year, and since I love historical fiction, it is right up my alley! It is well written, well researched, and I appreciate that there’s no gratuitous sex or language.

#4. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C // I don’t use this product, but I hear it recommended often, so I linked it when it went on sale for Prime Day. It is #4 out of 10 for the year, so it must be good!

#3. Olivia Garden Brush Cleaner // I love my Bio Ionic Hairbrush; I’ve had it for 5 years, and it’s still going strong, but it does collect a lot of hair, so this brush cleaner helps me keep it clean and ready to use every day.

#2. Conair Fabric Shaver and Lint Remover // I love this shaver for de-pilling my sweaters, and it also works great on upholstery. Our couch gets pilled terribly, and I use this every few months to keep it looking nice.

#1. Apple AirPods (2nd Generation) Wireless Earbuds with Lightning Charging Case // These AirPods went on an amazing sale during Amazon Prime Day, and they were also priced to sell during Black Friday Weekend, and it looks like many of you snapped them up! I’ve bought these for everyone in our family at one time or another; we all love them! They’re still a great price.

I hope that was fun to read. It definitely helps me know what to hone in on as far as products to experiment with and feature on the blog next year.

Tomorrow I’ll be back with my Top Ten Posts from 2022, so stay tuned for that!

  1. #10 Does ANYONE have suggestions for how to clean organizers LIKE these? I have white plastic organizers like this and they get dirty with make up, esp powder blush residue and for the life of me I can’t seem to get back to the white color.

  2. Love this post! Do you think 30% off is the best sale we will see on Elemis cleansing balm? You turned me in to it and I love it! It really is like a mini facial every night.

  3. I just ordered the black tank from Loft! I started to order it earlier, but the shipping fee deterred me. Tonight, I decided to try a “live chat” and ask if they could possibly waive the shipping fee, since what I was ordering was so cheap lol. They did! I’m also surprised no shoes made the list. I know I ordered at least 2 pair. One twice 🤦🏼‍♀️ lol
