Best of August

Happy Labor Day, friends! I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend. We don’t have any plans today, so I’m hoping to get my closet and master bathroom organized, and I still have to finish unpacking from all of my travels. Meanwhile, I rounded up the most popular blog posts and top sellers from the month of August, and most of them are on sale right now!

I’ve also made a few more updates to my Labor Day Weekend Sale Roundup, so don’t miss that if you’re still shopping for some late summer deals.

Top 10 Products in August 2024

I’d love to know if you scored any of these and how they worked out for you. These are listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last. (All links and descriptions are below the pictures.)

also wearing: Birks (39) // KUT Jane shorts (8)

#10. Faherty Golden Hour Pullover Sweater – 35% off (S) // This lightweight sweater with the easy fit and rolled scoop neck is in the Top Ten for the 2nd month in a row, and it’s back on sale at Nordstrom.

also wearing: Oakley Mesh Shirt – 10% off (S) // Vince Pia wedge sandals

#9. MOTHER The Rider High Waist Ankle Slim Straight Leg Jeans (29) // These jeans are so good, and I can’t improve upon the description on the Nordstrom website: “These high-waisted jeans cut from soft stretch denim in a subtly faded dark blue wash are the perfect compromise between straight-leg silhouettes and skinnies.” They were part of the #NSale but are back to full price for now.

also wearing: Lucky Brand shirt (S)

#8. tarte Maracuja Juicy Plump Rose Trio // My favorite lip color in a 3-pack of versatile rose shades is on sale at QVC.

#7. Sanctuary Chill Vibes Stripe Cotton V-Neck Sweater // I love the cropped fit and the design of the v-neck on this easy stripe 100% cotton sweater.

also wearing: KUT Ana (8) // AllSaints Stevie t-shirt (M) // Blondo boots – 40% off (8)

#6. Caslon Crop Utility Jacket (S) // This is such a nice update on the classic utility jacket for fall 2024. I love the crop length and all of the small details that make it look far more expensive than it is. It does run big; size down, if in between.

also wearing: MOTHER Rider jeans (29) // Splendid t-shirt (M)

#5. KUT from the Kloth Zinnia Patch Pocket Jacket (S) // This jacket is extremely lightweight, so perfect for those in warmer climates who want a nice outfit completer piece for fall. It also comes in grey, and it runs a little small; you may want to try a size up, if in between.

also wearing: Lucky Brand shirt (S) // Vionic sandals – 33% off (7.5) // JW PEI handbag

#4. MOTHER Hustler Roller Skimp High Rise Wide Leg Jeans – 30% off (29) // I’m going to be wearing these 70s-inspired wide leg jeans on repeat this fall, and they just went on sale! I love the clean hem and the mid-blue wash with just enough whiskering and fading at the knees for a lived-in look.

also wearing: MOTHER Rider jeans (29) // similar espadrilles

#3. Lara Twist Muscle Tee // The perfect top for transition season, lightweight for those warm late summer days, in a rich burgundy hue that gives a nod to fall.

#2. Elsa Mary Jane Ballet Flats // These on-trend and budget-friendly Mary Jane ballet flats with a memory foam insole are just $20 at Target!

And in 1st place… Drumroll please!  🥁🥁🥁

also wearing: Gap Factory wide leg jeans – 60% off (29) // Franco Sarto boots (8)

#1. Gap Factory Roll Neck Sweater // This 100% cotton classic roll neck sweater comes in a bunch of solid and stripe color ways, and you can’t beat the price!

Top 5 Blog Posts in August 2024

Based on Google Analytics, these were the 5 most popular blog posts that I published this month.

#5. My Favorite Style Hack for Making Simple Outfits Look Chic // It wasn’t until I started playing around with this outfit-making strategy that I started to come into my own and feel confident in my personal style.

#4. Early Fall Try-On Haul // I tried a bunch of budget-friendly denim, some transitional tops, a few dresses, and a few pairs of shoes & boots. It was a bit hit-or-miss, but I found a few great pieces to add to my fall closet.

#3. Fall Shoe Trends to Wear in 2024 // In which I break down all of the top fall footwear trends… You don’t need all of these in your closet, but this should give you plenty of options to choose from, if you want to integrate some fresh shoe styles into your wardrobe this fall.

#2. Top Denim Trends for Fall 2024 // A deep dive into the most asked-about wardrobe category and how we’re wearing these denim trends for fall 2024.

#1. Fall Fashion Forecast // Not surprisingly, this post was by far and away the most popular this month! These are 12 of the most wearable 2024 fall fashion trends for the everyday woman, and then I also pulled together a list of styles that are on their way “out” for the time being.

And that’s it for August! I’m excited for a new month and a new season. How about you???

  1. I purchased #2 red Mary Jane’s from Target. I wore them 2x to work last week and received many compliments. They are comfy, too! I’d purchased a pair of red leather Naturalizer Mary Jane’s from Nordstrom Rack for $99, but the red was not a deep red like the Target ones. Thanks for posting about them!

  2. Good luck with your tasks today! I have things I need to do today, but I’m struggling because I heard a snap in my upper left arm on Saturday and it is very painful to extend that arm or put any weight on it. While I didn’t purchase any of the top 10, I am strongly considering the roll neck sweater from GAP Factory. I can’t wait to change over my closet and for the cooler temps to move in for good. When you are sharing footwear with us, I would appreciate it if you could share some that are available in a narrow width, especially the loafers and Mary Jane flats. I would really like to add one of them to my closet, but the medium width just won’t work.

  3. I also purchased the red mary jane’s from Target. They are adorable and really comfy but it’s still too hot here to wear them. September in Georgia is basically just as hot as August and often a lot more humid. Yuck. I also bought the striped Faherty sweater during the NSale but returned it. I felt it was slightly scratchy and was afraid that would make me avoid wearing it. But every time I see a pic of you in it I question my decision and wonder if the scratchy thing was just in my head. Ha!

I am busy trying to gather appropriate travel clothes and shoes for an early November trip to Europe. We are doing a Rhine River cruise and I’m trying to balance things that are comfortable, easy to pack, and weather appropriate while still being at least moderately stylish. It’s trickier than I expected.
