Best of May 2024

Good morning on this last day of May! We got off to a rocky start this month, but we’re finishing strong. School is almost out for summer and our weather is finally warm, and I am so ready for it. Before we move full tilt into summer fashion here on the blog, I’m sharing the most popular products of the month.

Your Top Ten May Favorites

These are the 10 best-selling products from the blog and my social media channels this month, according to how many orders were placed through these links. These are listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

also wearing: raw edge tank (S) // MOTHER Hustler (29) // Vince wedge mules (8) (option)

10. Tommy Bahama Two Palms Linen Jacket (S) // This jacket is from last year, and I like it so much, I just got it in the white. It’s a nice elevated 3rd piece to add interest to dressy-casual outfits, and a layer of warm, if you need it.

9. Vionic Merlot Sandals // These block heel sandals have a cushioned footbed with good arch support, and the straps are soft and comfortable. They also come in black and gold, and they’re on sale at Nordstrom and Zappos! (More sizes at Zappos.)

also wearing: black crewneck tee (M) // Birks (39)

8. Linen-Blend Wide Leg Pants (S) // Easy breezy linen blend pants with a wide leg silhouette and on-trend cargo pockets. These pants run true to size, and they’re on sale at Gap Factory.

7. Amazon Woven Hobo Bag // This is an Amazon dupe for the popular Naghedi woven hobo bag (shown below). I haven’t seen it in person, but I know a lot of influencers who have this bag or one like it. It’s vegan leather, rather than neoprene.

also wearing: Paul Green sneakers (8) // NAGHEDI Nomad Hobo Bag

6. LOFT Chambray Linen Shift Dress // A simple linen shift dress, with the perfect minimalist vibe. It pairs well with sneakers or sandals.

5. Paul Green Hadley Platform Sneakers (8) // These classic white leather sneakers have amazing cushion and support, perfect for those of us with finicky feet. They’re super versatile, and they wear well without needing any breaking in.

also wearing: Splendid t-shirt (M) // KUT from the Kloth jeans (6) // Sam Edelman raffia slides (8)

4. Nordstrom Open Stitch Cardigan (S) // An update to a classic cardigan, this open stitch style is right on trend for spring. I love the 3/4-length blouson sleeves and relaxed silhouette. It runs true to size, or size down if in between.

also wearing: MOTHER denim (29) // Dolce Vita sandals (7.5)

3. LOFT Striped Modern Pocket Shirt // I love the updated styling on this button-up shirt. It’s perfect for throwing on with jeans or even shorts for an effortlessly casual vibe.

also wearing: Quince Cotton Cashmere Link-Stitch Dolman Sweater (S) // Paul Green sneakers (8)

2. Quince Ultra Stretch Ponte Pants // These are a nice classic pair of ponte pants that you can dress up or down.

And in first place, the winner is . . . Drumroll please! 🥁

also wearing: Tommy Bahama dress (S)

1. Stuart Weitzman Oasis 50 Wedge Sandals // I noticed these gorgeous sandals on sale at Nordstrom and immediately snapped them up. I love the delicate patent leather asymmetrical straps and cork wrapped wedge heel, and Stuart Weitzman always fits me so well, plus the quality of his shoes is well established. The low wedge is the perfect way for me to wean back into heels, now that my injured ankle is on the mend, and it looks like a lot of you liked them too!

Well, that was a fun walk down memory lane. Did you snag any of these items this month?

  1. I bought the Stuart Weitzman sandals and they are so pretty in person. They are very comfortable too! The wedge will be great for an outdoor wedding where heels would sink in the grass.

  2. I love the Tommy Bahama linen jackets. I bought the white last year and the navy the year before. My finger is itching to throw the black into my cart. I am just not a cardigan girl so I usually carry one of the jackets with me whenever we’re going anywhere with air conditioning in the summer. Jo-Lynne, what do you feel is the difference between the blue linen dress from Loft vs the Tommy Bahama one that’s similar? Other than the price? I have the black TB one and I can’t wait to wear it. I bought a Large because I felt like I was between sizes. That will work great as I plan to wear it in Italy and Greece in the heat and didn’t want it constricting anywhere. I discovered that I can wear it “backward” with the zipper in the front, which I love, but I can also wear it the way it’s meant to be worn so it shows off the stitching.

  3. I know that it is difficult to send your baby off to college – my baby just graduated from college; that was a tough one – but we had so much fun visiting both kids at their colleges. We actually loved the college years. We were still “home” for them but then they went off for a few months to semi adult and then they’d come back. Still easy to plan family vacays with long breaks. It’s the working adults now that are difficult! LOL As you know, those 4 years fly by, so embrace and enjoy! I love getting to know you and your family through your blogs. I look forward to hearing about your life as much as your fashion. And, oh my goodness, your daughter looks sooo much like you in that grad picture.

    1. Yeah, I hear ya, there are so many good times to come. I’ve enjoyed the college years with my older two, and they both are currently living at home, so I won’t be empty-nested just yet. It’s still hard to leave these high school days behind. I remember feeling this way about pre-school too. I loved those years. I still get a pit in my stomach when I drive past there. 🙂

    1. It’s funny, I usually don’t see that, she is a lot like her dad’s side of the family. But in that picture, I see it. In fact, she even said she thought we look alike in that picture.

  4. Wow, all the graduation photos turned out stunning! Perfect lighting and beautiful daughter!! Congrats to your whole family!! Thankful for the lovely weather this weekend, we are celebrating our granddaughter’s Sweet 16 tomorrow!! As for the Top 10, I bought the Tommy Bahama linen jacket in the navy blue that was a sale price! I love it, perfect weight and summer vibe! I will be wearing it alot when a traditional denim jacket is too casual and heavy! Thank you!!

  5. The last one doing the last things is always the toughest….but just remember that after every last comes a first and they can be pretty exciting too…its just a big change to you and your everyday life. ( all 3nof mine are grown, graduated, gone and homeowners)
If you want to become a blubbering mess listen to Michael Bubles song “Forever Now’, most effective if you watch the video on YouTube. I used it for the mother son song at my sons wedding and had to listen to it a lot before the big day so I could hold myself together.
The video is on point for all the changes in life our kids make along the way.

    1. LOL, thanks, but I’m already a blubbering mess. I don’t need to add fuel to that fire! 🙂 I know, I’ve done this before, and I know good times are to come. And it’s not like I’m empty nested. My son is still here, but I will really miss all of the band activities and things. Oh, well! All good things must come to an end! I’m just thankful we got to experience it.

  6. PS Love the grad picture. Becca looks so much like you. So beautiful. She grew up so fast. The baby is hard to let go, but you soon will settle into it as you know. Enjoy the “last” in the next weeks. I love hearing about your family over these years of following you since 2015.

  7. Decided I want to order the black linen jacket. Does it run true to size? never know if I take S or XS. I’m 5’3” about 122lbs. 34 B

      1. I agree with TTS. I am between M and L , a size 10. I was worried the Medium would be too tight in the arms, but it is not! Glad I got the medium instead of L. Linen has a natural “give” to it. It’s a sweet jacket, I got the navy blue one.

      2. Thank you. I had thought XS but then thought I better order both XS and S to see the difference. Some jackets it’s big difference and others not. I don’t want it to sell out in black. I ordered the white Wit n Wisdom one you posted once and it’s raw edge too and cheaper. The XS fits good but maybe alittle short in the arms. I didn’t want it any bigger though as I got to wear with the chambray linen dress in this post.

  8. Congratulations on the family happenings! Our daughter graduated high school one week ago. It is hard to believe! Is your daughter staying local for college or going far away?

  9. Congratulations on your daughter’s graduation. I’m a band director so I love that the trio was featured! My daughter is now officially a senior and I’m wondering where the time went.

I have the Amazon bag and love, love, love it! I got it last summer and am so happy I got it.

  10. Congratulations to your family and your daughter! That family photo is fantastic! Enjoy the graduation and time together this summer!

  11. Love the graduation picture. Congratulations to your daughter. The sandals are cute but it’s hard to believe they are number one considering the price. Wow. You look great in them and the black dress.

  12. I purchased the Amazon tote in silver after you showed it not too long ago. I’ve been carrying it daily since it arrived. Love it!!

  13. Such a great picture of the three of you! I have the GAP Factory cargo linen blend pants, in blue, and I bought the coordinating button up shirt to go with them.
