Hi, friends! I cannot believe it, but the month of May is already winding down. While it’s not a month I care to repeat, I’m also not ready to see it end because June brings my daughter’s high school graduation and all of the emotions tied up in that milestone! But, as they say, the show must go on, so this is What I Wore over the past two weeks.

But first, the usual disclaimer: This is what I actually wore as I went about my everyday life, so it can get a bit repetitive, and some of the older items are no longer available. I’ll link up other options and similar-for-less styles where I can.
What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Spring Outfits
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Last Wednesday was a busy day, by the looks of my calendar! When I’m writing these posts, I always have to reference that to remember what I did and where I went in these outfits. I had a Pilates class and physical therapy that morning, and then I came home and changed into this familiar look to go to an appointment with one of my girls.
This is why I love having a few casual jackets in different colors in my spring/summer wardrobe. I can throw them on with any of my jeans and a white tee and have a put-together outfit. I opted for my Paul Green sneakers because my feet were tired from the activities of the morning, and I wanted the support and comfort they provide. I also like how they repeat the white from the t-shirt.

The next day, I took Becca to the mall to shop for her graduation dress. *sob* I am so not ready for this, y’all. Anyway, I went for the same easy outfit formula, just with different pieces.

Paul and I decided at the last minute to go out to dinner that Friday night, and I took the opportunity to wear my new tie dye sweater. I paired it with white straight ankle jeans, and I wore these chunky silver hoops that I ordered during the last Saks sale. They’re exactly what I’ve been wanting — something chunky and shiny that really makes a statement, and they’re nice and lightweight too.

It was chilly, so I threw the black Camp Jacket on top to get to and from the car, and I would have worn nicer shoes, but we went to the mall first, so I played it safe and wore my Birks.

We had a live music event to attend the next day, and then an outdoor graduation party that night, and it was cold and rainy. So I pulled out this long sleeve ribbed henley top that has come in so handy for the chilly spring we’ve had this year! I wore it with my favorite straight ankle jeans and P448 sneakers, and then I topped it off with my The North Face Laney Trench.
This coat is at least five years old… probably older than that because I remember wearing it on a Nashville trip with Paul that was waaaay before Covid. Anyway, it still looks like new, and it’s my go-to rain jacket for both dressy and casual looks. I wish it was still available to link for you, because that was money well spent!

I put this monochromatic look together for church the next day. I added rattan earrings to coordinate with the rattan slide sandals, and I carried the olive green Loewe bag that I purchased in Rome last summer. I don’t reach for it as much as I thought I would because the color is somewhat limiting, and it’s a dressier style than I normally carry. I love it, though, and I am committed to finding more opportunities to use it!

We had an outdoor get-together to attend that evening, so I changed into something a little more casual, and I went back to my Birks since I knew I’d be standing a lot.

I didn’t go anywhere that required makeup the next day, but I did pull on shorts and a t-shirt to work from home.

I spent most of last Tuesday working from home, but I pulled on this casual t-shirt dress to go to an appointment with one of the girls that afternoon. And it looks like my beek flip flops were restocked at Evereve! Nordstrom also has these, but not in the silver/birch color way, and for some reason they’re $39 more at Nordstrom. I love the contoured foam footbed, so comfortable.

It finally warmed up last week, and I spent an afternoon by the pool, trying to get a head start on my summer tan. This coverup is a nice piece to have when I don’t want to change out of my swimsuit right away, but I want to look decent for working around the house. It also comes in a short sleeve version. And in case you’re wondering, I’m holding an apple that I was snacking on, lol!

At some point, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt for the rest of the afternoon.

And I can’t remember where I wore this; there’s nothing on my calendar, but I think I made last minute plans to meet a friend for dinner that night.

The next day, I met a friend for lunch and shopping at our new Evereve store. I decided to break out my new Michael Stars gauze top, and I paired it with these strawberry-red wide leg crops. I wanted to wear these Seychells sandals, but they don’t have enough support for walking around the mall, so I ended up switching into my beek flip flops before I left the house.

And then I switched into this neutral outfit that night to take my daughter to her boyfriend’s prom. (Yes, she got a do-over! The weather cooperated this time, and she was feeling so much better with her surgery a few weeks behind her.) They were wearing cranberry red and black, and I didn’t want to clash in the pictures, with my strawberry red jeans. This black sweater is from White House Black Market last year, and I love it for an easy throw-on-and-go with any of my jeans. It always looks polished and put together.

Paul and I came home from that event, packed up our overnight bags, and went right to bed because we had a rather ambitious plan for the next day. We got up at 2AM to drive our daughter to Cleveland to perform with her high school marching band at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Amazingly, it all worked out. She was there in plenty of time to meet up with her group, and it was awesome to see her play her marimba one last time.
I wore comfy clothes in the car and changed into this outfit once we got there. I love this casual short-sleeve hoodie as an alternative to my typical t-shirt.

After the high school music groups performed, we all went in to tour the museum, and then we said our good-byes and left to find our hotel. They were going on to do other fun things, but we were exhausted and ready for a nap. It was tempting to sleep through the night, but we rallied and made plans for dinner. Yep, it’s that tie dye sweater again…

After a good night’s sleep, we were feeling a little more like ourselves, and we spent some time walking around downtown Cleveland the next morning. It’s a really pretty city. I mean, look at that chandelier! Even the trash can is a work of art.

Later that afternoon, we picked up our daughter and brought her back to her hotel to gather her things. The rest of the music department stayed another day or two, but she was tired and wanted to get home. While she was packing up, I changed into comfy clothes for the 7-hour drive home.

ATM tee (M) // Spanx wide-leg pants (M) // Birks (39)
And that brings us to last Sunday morning! I wore this black midi dress to church, and I lightened it up with rattan hoop earrings and a rattan bag. I actually ended up changing into my Staud leather flip flops, but I guess I didn’t get a picture. I felt like the raffia slides were a little too much raffia, and even though they’re comfortable, the leather flip flops are even more so.

Caslon twist-front dress (M) // Sam Edelman slides (8) // Rebecca Minkoff bag // raffia hoops
After church, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt. We had family stopping through for the night on their way up the East Coast, so that was fun. We played Hitster, and Paul grilled some meat and veggies for dinner.

Sundry Golden Hour Tee (L) // KUT from the Kloth shorts (8) // beek flip flops (8) // Jenny Bird earrings
We didn’t go anywhere on Memorial Day. We were all tired, and it was rainy, so just I threw on the same Sundry Golden Hour Tee with my comfy AG cut-off shorts.

And finally… wow, this post was a doozie! Yesterday, I threw on a tank top and shorts after PT.

And then last night, we went over to the high school to take graduation pictures with Becca. The seniors got their caps and gowns at school yesterday, and we wanted to get some family photos before the big day, so Alison met us over at the high school. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!
I didn’t purchase anything new to wear to this graduation. I’ve had my eye out for something fun, but I think I’m going to end up wearing this black wrap dress. It’s comfortable and flattering and a classic style that I don’t think I’ll regret when I look back at pictures many years from now.

And that’s a wrap, folks! This was a long one, thanks for hanging in with me!

I see you have a variety of Birks so I assume they are comfortable for you. I know the footbed molds to your foot, but do you lose cushion in your heel when they mold? I need cushion on my heel for fasciitis and don’t want to spend the money if the heel smooshes down. Thanks for your posts, so much fun to read!
I have several pairs of Birks and I wouldn’t say the heel is cushioned. I love mine and the more I wear them the more comfortable they are but I don’t have fasciitis. The Arizona footbed ones are the most comfortable to me. The plastic looking ones I think are waterproof say “EVA foam upper in a footbed sandal style with an open toe.”
I agree with Yvonne. I did struggle with plantar fasciitis many years ago. And my podiatrist told me that a slight heel is the best shoe. I don’t feel like Birks give you much of a lift.
I have finicky feet with fasciitis but love my Birks, have the leather Arizona and also the Gizeh in their “soft footbed”. They wear even better with age to me and the deep heel cup along with their arch support is the ticket for me I think. I want to try the Madrid but my feet seem to do better with more support at the mid foot as well.
I’m also a fan of the NF Laney trench you’re featuring, I ordered the tan one with navy trim in the collar and sleeves with your link several years ago, one of my best purchases! Love the post!
Ooh, I did not know they had different footbeds. I will check that out! Thanks!
I wouldn’t waste your money on them. I have tried them several times and they never work out well with my plantar fasciitis.
Love these post. Great outfit choices. I feel your emotions on the last of the third child high school events. Hard.
I love how put together and coordinated you are for every event. Even your most casual outfits look amazing! I would love to figure out how to do that for myself.
I hope that your bad ankle did okay wearing the heels the other night! I appreciate seeing some days that you didn’t wear makeup because it reminds me that you do live a normal life, like the rest of us. And I like seeing that you have some tops that are on repeat. The Caslon midi dress looks so nice on you. I am going to give it a look on the Nordstrom site. I keep seeing adds for Bleek sandals, but I just swipe on by. It sounds like I might want to check them out.
I wore my Birks and put the heels on for pictures. 🙂 But I was thrilled I can walk a bit in them. I hope to be wearing them by end of summer.
Never apologize for your lack of variety in your outfits. when I see things on repeat, tie dye sweater, I know it is a good purchase, and if I buy it I am likely to get a lot of wear out of it. Thanks
Looks like a fun quick trip to Cleveland! I didn’t realize you still had graduation ahead of you (all ours are mid May). Praying you are able to get thru the tough emotions and actually enjoy it!
If I’m going out and have errands to run before a dinner or other event where I want to level up, I just bring my nice shoes and switch out when I’m done with errands. I have cute sandals and very few places to wear them post-COVID and remote work so I take whatever opportunity I can get! My niece and nephew (from two of my husband’s siblings) are graduating high school in mid-June, so I have about 3 total events to attend. You can bet I’m taking advantage of being able to wear something nice and am carefully planning all three outfits! 🙂
I love your “What I Wore Lately” posts. Real life is entertaining. Thanks for sharing!
So many great outfits! I see that your Sundry “Golden Hour” tee is a Large. I assume that means it runs small. I usually wear a 2 in their tees. I have it in my cart but I want to be sure I order the right size.
Yes. I was in the store and I grabbed the medium and was surprised that it was too small. So I went back and got the large.
Love everything! I’m going to try the AG shorts. 5.5 is a bit long on me but I bet I can cut them! I also have the red(ish) pants from Kut. Be careful when you wash them! I had a spot on them and used oxyclean. Not a good idea, they came out with a huge white spot where the dye washed out. I was tempted to return them to Nordstrom but decide to fix them with some RIT dye and they came out pretty good.
Ohhh good to know! You can always cut the shorts. I’ve considered it.
Great post Jolynne, thank you! Which of the Rafia earrings did you choose? I’m having a tough time seeing the color?
I’m wearing the darker brown teardrop ones.
I’m sorry I meant the hoops from Nordstrom?
I love the Caslon dress, but the instructions say to wash in gentle cycle and lay flat to dry. Mine is terribly wrinkled. Do you put yours in the dryer, dry clean or iron it?
I haven’t washed mine yet, but I have a steamer that I will use if needed.
I always enjoy your What I Wore Lately posts. I know you are busy. We had one son and he kept us on our toes running every where when he was in school. I miss those days. I will be doing Physical Therapy at our local hospital starting next week. This is for heart and lung maintenance. What is the current thing to wear? I am 74 but I’m very active. Hace good muscle tone. I’ve been told I look good for my age. So I don’t want to look young or too old. Anyway, just what do you think would look good. I love talking to the girls on your Facebook . Hope your PT is going well. Take care!!
I usually wear my Vuori joggers and a top like this one. I have both in several colors.
