I’m finally starting to feel human again after several weeks of living mostly au natural. This summer has kicked my trash when it comes to getting dressed and fixed up. Some days I discover at dinnertime that I never even bothered to put on makeup or change out of my workout clothes. Other days I find myself doing the bare minimum to get by. I mean, who really cares, anyway???
But then I always come back to the fact that I CARE. I feel SO much better if I take care of myself. I’m pretty sure I’m a better wife and mother too because I don’t feel as frazzled when I’ve taken the time to do my hair, put on makeup, and throw on an accessory or two.
This week has been much better, mainly because I’ve had an occasional almost every day to get myself put together. We spent a few days touring Baltimore, and we spent Sunday with my inlaws after church. That kind of got me back into the swing of things.
Day 1
Recently FinishLine sent me the ASICS Gel-Noosa Tri-8 in Storm/Lightening/Mint to try out.
I gave them a test drive one casual work-from-home day last week.
They’re known for their quick, stable transitions and recommended for triathletes. I’ve been advised by my chiropractor to try running in them, as he thinks the support might help my plantar fasciitis complaints. Crossing my fingers!!!
I wore them to my strength-training workout yesterday and I love the stability they provided. I lift heavy, and they gave me great support. Here I am in all my pre-workout glory.
But what I really like about them is the styling. This is a great shoe to transition from the gym to running errands to chasing kids on the playground. My favorite part about them is that they’re designed to be worn barefoot and since I really hate socks and shoes, wearing them barefoot allows my feet to breathe (the mesh liner on top allows for airflow) and is more comfortable to me.
I’m wearing them today (yeah, getting a late start on this post this week!!) and I love them with my cut-offs and gray tee for a casual mom-about-town outfit. I wore this outfit to my chiro’s office this morning, and all the PT staff was checking out my shoes. Evidently they’re pretty hot among the triathletes.
I’m going to run in them tomorrow and see how they feel. I’ll keep you posted!
Day 2
This was the day we drove down to Baltimore. I spent the morning packing and getting ready to leave so I just threw on my cut-offs and this embroidered peasant top from Old Navy. I brought out my favorite embellished t-strap sandals because I miss wearing them. They don’t provide any support, but I wasn’t doing much walking and I thought they looked cute with this outfit. I threw on the green and blue beaded bracelet for some color.
That night we went out to dinner at Wit & Wisdom, an upscale tavern-style restaurant located in the Four Seasons hotel where we stayed, so I changed into my favorite white jeans with this tie-dye ruffled cami and coral cardigan (old, from Banana Republic a few seasons ago).
Day 3
I wore these casual plaid madras shorts and white tee the next day to visit the National Aquarium. (It was a wee bit windy!)
The necklace (no longer available) is from Stella & Dot. I regret carrying my heavy leather handbag, although it looked cute with the outfit. I should have brought something lighter for walking around all day. Live and learn!!! I did, however, choose the right shoes. My Orthaheels kept my feet comfy during all that walking — although I still took every chance I could get to sit down and rest my tootsies (and check email, of course!!)
That night we went out to dinner at Talara — I wrote about it here. I wore this V-neck tee from CAbi with my coral shorts and white Tory Burch sandals. I like the green bag against the coral shorts, but the necklace makes the outfit. I picked it up at the JCrew Factory Outlet a few months ago.
Day 4
Back at home, I wore this outfit to church on Sunday and to a family function afterwards. I actually put on wedge sandals for our family get-together, but I didn’t get a picture of those. I really prefer this outfit with heels, but I’m trying to be kind to my feet. I ran 11 miles that morning, and I knew that I needed to wear my Orthaheels for the majority of the day! My two favorite summer handbags (black-and-white striped and the green one) both clashed with this outfit so I grabbed this pink clutch. I like the contrast of pink against the green and black-and-white.
Day 5
I wore this coral top and gray cuffed khaki shorts (both old) to do some shopping with the kids on Monday. It’s nothing special, but I like the color combination. I accessorized with this coral stretch bracelet (a Kohl’s find last spring) and a pair of Silpada earrings that have an orange bead in them.

I love Asics and those are super cute!!!
Girl you look awesome for any age! I love that coral necklace
Aw thanks, dah-ling! :=) That necklace is one of my faves!! J.Crew! (the outlet – so not very pricey)
Looking amazing like always 🙂

Cute outfits as always!
Do you realize how lucky you are to get to try so many great products (and visit great places) for free?!?! So cool! 🙂
LOL, well… I absolutely love that part of my job, but I wouldn’t say it’s free. There is considerable time and effort and money that go into writing and running this blog, and that’s what gives me those opportunities. I have to watch myself, though, because I, too, often find myself saying that I get these things for free, and my husband always corrects me. 🙂
Oh, I know…nothing is really free, is it? 🙂 But it’s still cool!
It is VERY cool. 🙂
I love that you care and inspire others to care! Tooooo many women in their busy mommy/wife/job 30-40’s just let it all go as they care for everyone else but themselves. It’s sad and I’ve handed over many a tissue in my office as I’ve heard the story of a marriage collapsing. When you let yourself go, it’s too easy for others to treat you as though you have been let go. If you want your man to care and act like he is interested, you HAVE to take care of yourself. GOOD OR YOU!
Seeing you in those kicks makes me want to go work out!
