Fall Color Trend to Try: Red

With every new season comes a new set of trending colors, and this fall is all about red. To get us in the spirit, I styled this LOFT Ribbed Midi Polo Dress in Tamale Red! How fun is this for transition season?

LOFT polo dress (M) // Vince Camuto sandals (7.5) // J.Crew earrings // necklace // bracelet // similar bag // similar sunglasses

I like how the model dresses it down with white sneakers, but I thought I’d show you a more leveled-up version with these sleek open toe booties and a coordinating camera bag.

They’re really more of a sandal, but whatever label you put on them, they’re a really nice footwear option for transition season. I love how they almost match my skin tone, so they don’t break up the look. FIT TIP: Size down, if in between.

I accessorized with gold puffy hoops (another big trend right now) and a chunky pendant necklace to fill the neckline. I also added a mixed metal cuff bracelet from my Stella & Dot days.

It’s an easy one to dress up or down, so I reach for it a lot. Plus, the two metal tones help tie together the gold jewelry and silver hardware on the shoes and bag… not that it really needs to be tied together. It’s fine to mix metals, but I like it to look intentional.

Judging from the new arrivals I’ve been seeing, I think it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing our fair share of red this year. The nice thing about red is you can find it in warm and cool tones, so everyone can wear it.

I’ve always liked shades of red, and it looks good on me, but I haven’t worn it much in recent years. I look forward to adding a couple of pieces to my fall wardrobe. If you prefer wearing neutrals, you can add a pop of red into your fall outfits with a red lip or a red manicure.

All that to say, if you also like wearing red, this season will provide plenty of opportunities for you to add a piece or two to your wardrobe. I rounded up some of my favorites below.

  1. Jo-Lynne, that outfit is STUNNING on you! I do like red–I have a handbag and some shoes/boots. I want to add a couple of clothing pieces, in a cool shade of red.

  2. Unrelated to the post, since you mentioned last week doing some changes to ads I have had issues expanding and contracting your posts, like when I want to see something close upon my phone (a Samsung). The ad fix may have caused other issues :(.

    1. Yes, me too. I thought it might just be me but when I go to expand on my iPhone it moves around and changes size to long column of your post etc. I have to try to move it slowly to put it back in place and right size to read. It’s hard to explain. Hope this helped explain it. Anyone else have this and can explain?

  3. I love that shade of red. I need a warm tone of red. I used to wear a lot of red in the 80s but not so much now. Mostly because it was hard to find except tshirts. You look great in the whole outfit.

  4. You look fab in the dress! At only 5’1”, it would not work for me. The midi length makes me look like I am a little girl playing dress up in my mom’s closet. However, I love red and people say it’s my color. I think I might need those Mango shoes. I love Maryjanes, too!

      1. I’m petite and I wear midi dresses and skirts. It all depends on the dress and how it’s styled. I prefer shorter styles though. It’s maxi dresses that I really don’t like. I mean the ones that almost touch the floor.

  5. Love everything about this outfit! I can see why you love that purse, looks good with everything! I know you have shown dupes for it before, if you can please share a link again for similar options. Thanks!

      1. Thanks Jolynn, I really love the Tory Burch one even though it has a flap; the Devon color is so pretty will put this on my wishlist!

  6. Love this. I don’t love super bright red near my face but I think I could pull off the shade of that quilted mockneck. The crossbody bags and shoes would also be practical additions.

  7. You look so pretty. Great sandal bootie. I love that style shoe. I have two casual ones in my closet and get out this time of year. I like red but can only wear the cool tones. Might be adding something red for sure for the holidays.
